Abstract

An upper corner cabinet includes front and rear frames separated from each other, first and second lateral panels each extending from the front frame to the rear frame and including an end pivotally joined to the front frame and another end joined to the rear frame and being foldable, a bottom panel selectively abutted against the front and rear frames and the first and second lateral panels, and a top panel selectively positioned above the bottom panel and abutted against the front and rear frames and the first and second lateral panels. Moreover, the upper corner cabinet is operable in an extended position and a collapsed position and able to be changed therebetween without the aid of a tool.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to an upper corner cabinet and, in particular, to an upper corner cabinet that is operable in an extended position and a collapsed position and is able to be changed therebetween without the aid of a tool.
2. Description of the Related Art
U.S. Pat. No. 6,099,096 discloses a conventional corner cabinet. Like all other convention corner cabinets, the cabinet disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 6,099,096 is not foldable to a smaller size. It is appreciated that the corner cabinet may be dissembled into parts for easy transportation. However, tools are usually required to disassemble the corner cabinet, and it is laborious and time consuming.
The present invention is, therefore, intended to obviate or at least alleviate the problems encountered in the prior art.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

According to the present invention, an upper corner cabinet includes front and rear frames, first and second lateral panels, and bottom and top panels. The rear frame is separated from the front frame. Each of the first and second lateral panels extends from the front frame to the rear frame and includes an end pivotally joined to the front frame and another end joined to the rear frame and is foldable. The bottom panel is selectively abutted against the front and rear frames and the first and second lateral panels. The top panel is selectively positioned above the bottom panel and abutted against the front and rear frames and the first and second lateral panels. The upper corner cabinet is operable in an extended position and a collapsed position and able to be changed therebetween without the aid of a tool. The upper corner cabinet includes a room including a periphery delimited by the front and rear frames as well as the first and second lateral panels. The upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the room having a first size. The upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the room having a second size. The second is size is smaller than the first size.
It is an objective of the present invention to provide an upper corner cabinet operable in an extended position and a collapsed position.
It is a further objective of the present invention to provide an upper corner cabinet operable in an extended position and a collapsed position and able to be changed therebetween without the aid of a tool.
Other objects, advantages, and new features of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description of the invention when considered in conjunction with the accompanied drawings.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIGS. 1 through 6 show an upper corner cabinet in accordance with the present invention. The upper corner cabinet includes front and rear frames 10 and 20, first and second lateral panels 30 a and 30 b, and bottom and top panels 50 and 90.
The front frame 10 includes a configuration including first, second, third, and fourth extensions 11, 12, 13, and 14 and an opening delimited by the first, second, third, and fourth extensions 11, 12, 13, and 14. The first and second extensions 11 and 12 are disposed opposite to and separated from each other. The third and fourth extensions 13 and 14 extend from the first extension 11 to the second extension 12 and are disposed opposite to and separated from each other.
The rear frame 20 is separated from the front frame 10. The rear frame 20 includes a configuration including first, second, third, and fourth sides 201, 202, 203, and 204. The first side 201 includes a first slot 21 a and the second side 202 includes a second slot 21 b inset respectively. Each of the first and second slots 21 a and 21 b has a dovetail shape. Each of the first and second sides 201 and 202 has a length longer than a length of each of the third and fourth sides 203 and 204. The third and fourth sides 203 and 204 extend from the first side 201 to the second side 202. The third side 203 is adjacent to the top panel 90. The fourth side 204 is adjacent to the bottom panel 50. The rear frame 20 further includes a plurality of first apertures 23 defined therein. The plurality of first apertures 23 are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent first apertures 23 equaling to each other.
Each of the first and second lateral panels 30 a and 30 b extends from the front frame 10 to the rear frame 20 and includes an end pivotally joined to the front frame 10 and another end joined to the rear frame 20 and is foldable. The first lateral panel 30 a is pivotally joined to the third extension 13. The second lateral panel 30 b is pivotally joined to the fourth extension 14. The first lateral panel 30 a includes a configuration including first, second, and third boards 31 a, 32 a, and 33 a. The first board 31 a is pivotally joined to the third extension 13. The second board 32 a is joined to the rear frame 20. The second board 32 a includes a plurality of second apertures 321 a defined therein. The plurality of second apertures 321 a are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent second apertures 321 a equaling to each other. The third board 33 a is pivotally joined to the first and second boards 30 a and 30 b and disposed therebetween. The third board 33 includes a plurality of third apertures 331 a defined therein. The plurality of third apertures 331 a are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent third apertures 331 a equaling to each other. The first board 31 a includes a third slot 34 a inset. The third slot 34 a has a dovetail shape. The second lateral panel 30 b includes a configuration including fourth, fifth, and sixth boards 31 b, 32 b, and 33 b. The fourth board 31 b is pivotally joined to the fourth extension 14. The fifth board 32 b is joined to the rear frame 20. The fifth board 32 b includes a plurality of fourth apertures 321 b defined therein. The plurality of fourth apertures 321 b are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent fourth apertures 321 b equaling to each other. The sixth board 33 b is pivotally joined to the fourth and fifth boards 31 b and 32 b and disposed therebetween. The sixth board 33 b includes a plurality of fifth apertures 331 b defined therein. The plurality of fifth apertures 331 b are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent fifth apertures 331 b equaling to each other The fourth board 31 b includes a fourth slot 34 b inset. The fourth slot 34 b has a dovetail shape.
The bottom panel 50 is selectively abutted against the front and rear frames 10 and 20 and the first and second lateral panels 30 a and 30 b. The bottom panel 50 includes a hexagonal configuration including first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth edges 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, and 56. The first edge 51 is adapted to be abutted against the second extension 12. The second edge 52 is adapted to be abutted against the rear frame 20 and engaged in a channel 22 inset in the rear frame 20. The third edge 53 is adapted to be abutted against the first board 31 a. The fourth edge 54 is adapted to be abutted against the second and third boards 32 a and 33 a. The fifth edge 55 is adapted to be abutted against the fourth board 31 b. The sixth edge is adapted to be abutted against the fifth and sixth boards 32 b and 33 b.
The top panel 90 is selectively positioned above the bottom panel 50 and abutted against the front and rear frames 10 and 20 and the first and second lateral panels 30 a and 30 b. The top panel 90 includes a hexagonal configuration including first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth perimeters 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, and 96. The first perimeter 91 is adapted to be abutted against the second extension 12 and engaged in a groove 15. The groove 15 is inset and extends from a distal end adjacent to the third extension 13 to another distal end adjacent to the fourth extension 14. The second perimeter 92 is adapted to be abutted against the rear frame 20. The third perimeter 93 is adapted to be abutted against the first board 31 a. The fourth perimeter 94 is adapted to be abutted against the second and third boards 32 a and 33 a. The fifth perimeter 95 is adapted to be abutted against the fourth board 31 b. The sixth perimeter 96 is adapted to be abutted against the fifth and sixth boards 32 b and 33 b.
Further, a door panel 60 is pivotally joined to one of the third and fourth extensions 13 and 14 and selectively closes the opening of the front frame 10.
The upper corner cabinet is operable in an extended position and a collapsed position and able to be changed therebetween without the aid of a tool.
The upper corner cabinet includes a room including a periphery delimited by the front and rear frames 10 and 20 as well as the first and second lateral panels 30 a and 30 b. Objects to be stored in the upper corner cabinet is disposed in the room. The upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position including the room having a reference A having a first size. The room A has a hexagonal cross section, with the first and third boards 31 a and 33 a including a first acute included angle, with the second and third boards 32 a and 33 a aligned, with the fourth and sixth boards 31 b and 33 b including a second acute included angle, with the fifth and sixth boards 32 b and 33 b aligned. The upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the room having a reference B having a second size. The second is size is smaller than the first size. The room B has a trapezoid cross section, with the first and third boards 31 a and 33 a overlapped and extending parallel to each other, with the second board 32 a and the front frame 10 including a third acute included angle, with the fifth board 31 b and the front frame 10 including a fourth acute included angle.
The upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the front and rear frames 10 and 20 disposed opposite to each other. The upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the front and rear frames 10 and 20 disposed opposite to each other. Additionally, the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the front and rear frames 10 and 20 operably movable in opposite directions until positioned in the extended position.
The upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes a first frontal area and includes the first and fourth boards 31 a and 31 b extending obliquely away from each other. The upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes a second frontal area and includes the first and fourth boards 31 a and 31 b aligned with the front frame 10. The second frontal is greater than the first frontal area.
The upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the first and third slots 21 a and 34 a including a first latch 40 a engaged therein, with the first latch 40 including one of two distal ends engaged in the first slot 21 a and the other distal end engaged in the third slot 34 a and extending transversely across the second and third boards 32 a and 33 a and preventing the second and third boards 32 a and 33 a from pivoting relative to each other. Additionally, the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the first latch 40 disengaged from the first and third slots 21 a and 34 a. Furthermore, the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position including the second and fourth slots 21 b and 34 b including a second latch 40 b engaged therein, with the second latch 40 including one of two distal ends engaged in the second slot 21 b and the other distal end engaged in the fourth slot 34 b and extending transversely across the fifth and sixth boards 32 b and 33 b and preventing the fifth and sixth boards 32 b and 33 b from pivoting relative to each other. Additionally, the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position including the second latch 40 disengaged from the second and fourth slots 21 b and 34 b.
The upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the room including a shelf 80 selectively received therein and circumscribed by the front and rear frames 10 and 20 and the first and second lateral panels 30 a and 30 b and supported at a height. The shelf 80 can bear objects to be stored in the upper corner cabinet. Each of the plurality of first, second, third, fourth, and fifth apertures 23, 321 a, 331 a, 321 b, and 331 b includes a stud 70 selectively engaged therein for supporting the shelf 80 at the height. The stud 70 includes a configuration including an engaging portion 71 and a supporting portion 72. Each of the plurality of first, second, third, fourth, and fifth apertures 23, 321 a, 331 a, 321 b, and 331 b having the stud 70 engaged therein receives the engaging portion 71 of the stud 70 and includes the supporting portion 72 exposed thereoutside. The supporting portion 72 includes a configuration including first and second walls, with the first and second walls having a common edge and extending in an angled relationship. The stud 70 further includes the supporting portion 72 including an anti-slip portion 73 extended thereon. The stud 70 supporting the shelf 80 includes the shelf 80 in frictional contact with the anti-slip portion 73.
While the specific embodiment has been illustrated and described, numerous modifications come to mind without significantly departing from the spirit of invention, and the scope of invention is only limited by the scope of the accompanying claims.

Claims

1. An upper corner cabinet comprising:

a front frame;

a rear frame separated from the front frame;

a first lateral panel extending from the front frame to the rear frame and including an end pivotally joined to the front frame and another end joined to the rear frame and being foldable;

a second lateral panel extending from the front frame to the rear frame and including an end pivotally joined to the front frame and another end joined to the rear frame and being foldable;

a bottom panel selectively abutted against the front and rear frames and the first and second lateral panels;

a top panel selectively positioned above the bottom panel and abutted against the front and rear frames and the first and second lateral panels; and

wherein the upper corner cabinet is operable in an extended position and a collapsed position and able to be operably changed therebetween without the aid of a tool, with the upper corner cabinet including a room including a periphery delimited by the front and rear frames as well as the first and second lateral panels, with the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position including the room having a first size, with the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position including the room having a second size, with the second size smaller than the first size.

The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 1, wherein the front frame includes a configuration including first, second, third, and fourth extensions and an opening delimited by the first, second, third, and fourth extensions, with the first and second extensions disposed opposite to and separated from each other, with the third and fourth extensions extending from the first extension to the second extension and disposed opposite to and separated from each other, wherein the first lateral panel is pivotally joined to the third extension, wherein the second lateral panel is pivotally joined to the fourth extension.

3. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 2 further comprising a door panel pivotally joined to one of the third and fourth extensions and selectively closing the opening.

The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 2, wherein the rear frame includes a configuration including first, second, third, and fourth sides, with the first side including a first slot and the second side including a second slot inset respectively, wherein the first lateral panel includes a configuration including first, second, and third boards, with the first board pivotally joined to the third extension, with the second board joined to the rear frame, with the third board pivotally joined to the first and second boards and disposed therebetween, with the first board including a third slot inset, with the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position including the first and third slots including a first latch engaged therein, with the first latch including one of two distal ends engaged in the first slot and the other distal end engaged in the third slot and extending transversely across the second and third boards and preventing the second and third boards from pivoting relative to each other, with the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position including the first latch disengaged from the first and third slots, wherein the second lateral panel includes a configuration including fourth, fifth, and sixth boards, with the fourth board pivotally joined to the fourth extension, with the fifth board joined to the rear frame, with the sixth board pivotally joined to the fourth and fifth boards and disposed therebetween, with the fourth board including a fourth slot inset, with the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position including the second and fourth slots including a second latch engaged therein, with the second latch including one of two distal ends engaged in the second slot and the other distal end engaged in the fourth slot and extending transversely across the fifth and sixth boards and preventing the fifth and sixth boards from pivoting relative to each other, with the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position including the second latch disengaged from the second and fourth slots.

5. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of the first and second sides has a length longer than a length of each of the third and fourth sides, with the third and fourth sides extending from the first side to the second side, with the third side adjacent to the top panel, with the fourth side adjacent to the bottom panel.

6. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 4, wherein each of the first, second, third, and fourth slots has a dovetail shape.

The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 4, wherein the rear frame includes a plurality of first apertures defined therein, wherein the second board includes a plurality of second apertures defined therein, wherein the third board includes a plurality of third apertures defined therein, wherein the fifth board includes a plurality of fourth apertures defined therein, wherein the sixth board includes a plurality of fifth apertures defined therein, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the room including a shelf selectively received therein and circumscribed by the front and rear frames and the first and second lateral panels and supported at a height, wherein each of the plurality of first, second, third, fourth, and fifth apertures includes a stud selectively engaged therein for supporting the shelf at the height.

8. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 7, wherein the stud includes a configuration including an engaging portion and a supporting portion, wherein each of the plurality of first, second, third, fourth, and fifth apertures having the stud engaged therein receives the engaging portion of the stud and includes the supporting portion exposed thereoutside.

9. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 7, wherein the plurality of first apertures are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent first apertures equaling to each other, wherein the plurality of second apertures are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent second apertures equaling to each other, wherein the plurality of third apertures are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent third apertures equaling to each other, wherein the plurality of fourth apertures are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent fourth apertures equaling to each other, wherein the plurality of fifth apertures are disposed one next to another in a spaced relationship, with distances defined between any two adjacent fifth apertures equaling to each other.

10. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 8, wherein the stud includes the supporting portion including a configuration including first and second walls, with the first and second walls having a common edge and extending in an angled relationship.

11. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 10, wherein the stud includes the supporting portion including an anti-slip portion extended thereon, wherein the stud supporting the shelf includes the shelf in frictional contact with the anti-slip portion.

12. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 4, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes a first frontal area, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes a second frontal area, with the second frontal greater than the first frontal area.

13. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 12, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the first and fourth boards extending obliquely away from each other, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position including the first and fourth boards aligned with the front frame.

14. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 13, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the room including a hexagonal cross section, with the first and third boards include a first acute included angle, with the second and third boards aligned, with the fourth and sixth boards including a second acute included angle, with the fifth and sixth boards aligned, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the room including a trapezoid cross section, with the first and third boards overlapped and extending parallel to each other, with the second board and the front frame including a third acute included angle, with the fifth board and the front frame including a fourth acute included angle.

15. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 14, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the extended position includes the front and rear frames disposed opposite to each other, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the front and rear frames disposed opposite to each other, wherein the upper corner cabinet positioned in the collapsed position includes the front and rear frames operably movable in opposite directions until positioned in the extended position.

The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 14, wherein the bottom panel includes a hexagonal configuration including first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth edges, wherein the upper corner cabinet having the bottom panel engaged therewith includes the first edge abutted against the second extension and includes the second edge abutted against the rear frame and engaged in a channel inset in the rear frame and includes the third edge abutted against the first board and includes the fourth edge abutted against the second and third boards and includes the fifth edge abutted against the fourth board and includes the sixth edge abutted against the fifth and sixth boards.

17. The upper corner cabinet as claimed in claim 14, wherein the first extension includes a groove inset and extending from a distal end adjacent to the third extension to another distal end adjacent to the fourth extension, wherein the top panel includes a hexagonal configuration including first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth perimeters, wherein the upper corner cabinet having the includes the first perimeter abutted against the second extension and engaged in the groove and includes the second perimeter abutted against the rear frame and includes the third perimeter abutted against the first board and includes the fourth perimeter abutted against the second and third boards and includes the fifth perimeter abutted against the fourth board and includes the sixth perimeter abutted against the fifth and sixth boards.
