Abstract

An enclosure includes a main body defining an opening, and a venting apparatus. The venting apparatus includes a first body defining a number of first vents, and a second body defining a number of second vents. The first body is fixed to the main body to cover the opening. The second body is pivotably attached to an outer surface of the first body. The second body may be rotated relative to the first body to partly overlap the first vents with the second vents to adjust the rate or volume of airflow permitted through a heat-generating device.

Description

    BACKGROUND
  • 1. Technical Field
  • The present disclosure relates to enclosures and, more particularly, to an enclosure with a vent.
  • 2. Description of Related Art

  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • Many aspects of the present embodiments can be better understood with reference to the following drawings. The components in the drawings are not necessarily drawn to scale, the emphasis instead being placed upon clearly illustrating the principles of the present embodiments. Moreover, in the drawings, all the views are schematic, and like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
  • FIG. 1 is an assembled, isometric view of an embodiment of an enclosure, the enclosure includes a venting apparatus.
  • FIG. 2 is an exploded, isometric view of FIG. 1.
  • FIG. 3 is an enlarged view of the venting apparatus of FIG. 2, but viewed from another perspective.
  • FIG. 4 is an exploded, isometric view of the venting apparatus of FIG. 3, the venting apparatus includes a fastener.
  • FIG. 5 is an enlarged view of the fastener of FIG. 4.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • The disclosure, including the accompanying drawings, is illustrated by way of examples and not by way of limitation. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.
  • Referring to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, an exemplary embodiment of an enclosure includes a main body 10 and a venting apparatus 20 attached to the main body 10.
  • The main body 10 includes a sidewall 12 defining an opening 122.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, the venting apparatus 20 is fixed to the sidewall 12 for covering the opening. The venting apparatus 20 includes a first body 21, a second body 22 pivotably fixed to the first body 21, and a fastener. The first body 21 and the second body 22 are both circular-plate-shaped. The first body 21 defines a plurality of first vents 215. The second body 22 defines a plurality of second vents 223. The diameter of the first body 21 is greater than the diameter of the second body 22. The first body 21 further defines a through hole 211 in a center of the first body 21 and two locking holes 213 around the through hole 211. In this embodiment, the locking holes 213 are same as first vents 215. A plurality of fixing portions 212 is set on a side of the first body 21, for fixing the first body 21 to the sidewall 12 to cover the opening. The fixing portions 212 may utilise magnets or adhesive. In an alternative embodiment, the first body 21 may define a plurality of fixing holes to fix the first body 21 to the sidewall 12 by screws. A plurality of signs 214 is marked on the side of an outer surface of the first body 21, facing the second body 22.
  • The second body 22 further defines a through hole 221 in a center of the second body 22. Two opposite handles 222 extend in from a side of an outer surface of the second body 22, opposite to the first body 21. An arrowhead 224 is marked on the side of the outer surface the second body 22.
  • The venting apparatus 20 further includes a fastener 23, a washer 24, a resilient member 25, and a nut 26. In one embodiment, the resilient member 25 is a coil spring. The fastener 23 is a flat-headed bolt.
  • Referring to FIG. 5, the fastener 23 includes a pole 231, a head 232 formed on a first end of the pole 231, and a threaded portion 234 formed on a second end of the pole 231. A plurality of anti-twist tabs or other protuberances (tabs 233) extend from the underside of the head 232 and are parallel to the pole 231.
  • Referring to FIG. 3 and FIG. 4, in assembly, the pole 231 extends through the through holes 211 and 221. The tabs 233 are inserted in the locking holes 213 of the first body 21 to prevent the fastener 23 from twisting or revolving in relation to the first body 21. The washer 24 and the resilient member 25 are positioned on the pole 231 in that order, thereby the washer 24 distributes pressure and provides a bearing surface against the outer surface of the second body 22. The nut 26 is screwed to the threaded portion 234. Therefore the second body 22 is pivotably connected to the first body 21.
  • In use, the handles 222 are operated to rotate the second body 22 relative to the first body 21 to misalign the second vents 223 of the second body 22 relative to the first vents 215 of the first body 21. The first and second vents 215 and 223 can partly overlap, thereby changing the airflow permitted through the first and second vents 215 and 223.
  • The nuts 26 compresses the resilient member 25 to keep the second body 22 in firm contact with the first body 21, thus the second body 22 may be positioned in any position relative to the first body 21. The arrowhead 224 can indicate the degree of overlap between the first and second vents 215 and 223.
  • It is to be understood, however, that even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the embodiments have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and function of the embodiments, the disclosure is illustrative only, and changes may be made in detail, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the present disclosure to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
