Abstract
An outdoor unit for an air conditioner, comprising: a cabinet which forms an exterior cover; a terminal disposed within the cabinet and to which the wiring for electric power supply is connected; a metallic rising section which rises to form the peripheral surface of the cabinet and having a window opened to face the terminal; and a lid which is a resin molding and opens and closes the window. The lid is provided with: an outer peripheral rib which protrudes from the periphery of the rear surface of the lid and makes contact with the rising section; and a ridge section which extends along the inner periphery of the outer peripheral rib and protrudes from the rear surface of the lid to form a groove between the ridge section and the outer peripheral rib and which makes contact with the rising section.
Description
- The present invention relates to an outdoor unit for an air conditioner and particularly relates to an outdoor unit for an air conditioner, which has a lid for covering a terminal portion to which power supply wiring is connected.

Patent Document 1 discloses a conventional outdoor unit for an air conditioner. - This outdoor unit for an air conditioner is disposed outside a room, and electrical components such as a compressor, a fan, and so on are covered with a metallic cabinet constituting an outer casing of the outdoor unit. The cabinet has a bottom plate on which a side plate, a front plate, and a back plate that constitute vertical surfaces are provided in a standing manner and a top plate that is fitted over an upper surface of the cabinet.
- At the side plate, a window portion is provided that is opened/closed with a removable lid, and a terminal portion to which power supply wiring is connected is disposed so as to face the window portion. An operation of establishing connection to the terminal portion is performed via the window portion. On an outer surface of the side plate, a groove constituted by a bead in a semicircular shape in cross section is provided in a recessed manner so as to extend in an L-shape continuously above and on one lateral side of the window portion.
- Since the outdoor unit is disposed outside a room, water that has flowed from the top plate down onto the side plate in the event of rain or the like enters a gap between the side plate and the lid. At this time, the water passes within the groove around the window portion, thus being led downward, so as to be discharged. This can prevent water entry into the terminal portion.

Pages 2 to 4,FIG. 1 ) - According to the above-described conventional outdoor unit for an air conditioner, however, since the groove constituted by a bead is formed on the metallic side plate, the strength of the side plate is locally increased, so that the side plate becomes likely to be deformed. This has led to a problem that such deformation of the side plate needs to be corrected at the time of assembling the cabinet, resulting in an increase in man-hours required to manufacture the outdoor unit.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide an outdoor unit for an air conditioner that can reduce man-hours required for manufacturing.
- In order to achieve the above-described object, the present invention provides an outdoor unit for an air conditioner including: a cabinet that constitutes an outer casing; a terminal portion that is disposed in the cabinet and to which power supply wiring is connected; a metallic standing portion that is provided in a standing manner so as to constitute a peripheral surface of the cabinet and at which a window portion is open so as to face the terminal portion; and a lid that is a resin molded article and with which the window portion is opened/closed. In the outdoor unit for an air conditioner, an outer peripheral rib is provided that protrudes on the periphery of a back surface of the lid and comes in contact with the standing portion, and a protruding portion is provided that protrudes from the back surface of the lid along an inner peripheral side with respect to the outer peripheral rib so that a groove is formed between the protruding portion and the outer peripheral rib and comes in contact with the standing portion.
- According to this configuration, the outdoor unit for an air conditioner is covered with the cabinet including the metallic standing portion. The wiring for supplying power to electrical components in the cabinet is connected to the terminal portion, and an operation of establishing connection is performed via the window portion that is open at the standing portion. In the lid that covers the window portion, the outer peripheral rib and the protruding portion that protrude from the back surface of the lid come in contact with the standing portion. The groove is formed between the outer peripheral rib provided on the periphery of the lid and the protruding portion disposed on the inner peripheral side with respect to the outer peripheral rib. Water droplets entering a gap between the standing portion and the outer peripheral rib under wind pressure in the event of rain or the like are released from the pressure in the groove and thus flow down within the groove on an outer side with respect to the protruding portion, being led to below the terminal portion.
- Furthermore, in the present invention, preferably, in the outer unit for an air conditioner configured as above, the outer peripheral-rib and the protruding portion are each formed on both side portions of the lid. Further, a concave portion is provided that is formed in a U-shape in cross section by being recessed from a front surface of the lid while protruding into the window portion and has an upper wall that extends horizontally along an upper end of the window portion and is inclined downward to the front side, and a blocking rib is provided that protrudes into the window portion so as to be continuous with a side end of the concave portion and extends vertically along a side edge of the window portion.
- According to this configuration, water droplets entering a gap between the standing portion and the outer peripheral rib from a side end portion of the lid flow down within the groove. Water droplets entering the gap between the standing portion and the outer peripheral rib from an upper end portion of the lid flow down on an upper surface of the concave portion protruding into the window portion. Since the upper wall of the concave portion is inclined downward to the front side, the water droplets are partly led to the front side and partly led in a horizontal direction toward both side portions and then flow down on an outer side with respect to the blocking rib.
- Furthermore, in the present invention, preferably, in the outdoor unit for an air conditioner configured as above, the upper wall of the concave portion protrudes to the front side from the front surface of the lid and has a hole. According to this configuration, part of water droplets on the upper surface of the concave portion flows down to the front side so as to be discharged from the hole.
- Furthermore, in the present invention, preferably, in the outdoor unit for an air conditioner configured as above, an engagement portion is provided that is formed so as to protrude on an inner surface of the lid and is engaged with the upper end of the window portion when the lid is lifted with fingers hooked on the concave portion, so that water dropping on the engagement portion is led to both the side portions of the lid by the engagement portion.
- According to this configuration, when lifting is performed with fingers hooked on the concave portion, the engagement portion is engaged with the upper end of the window portion, thus allowing the outdoor unit to be lifted. Water droplets entering a gap between the standing portion and the outer peripheral rib from the upper end portion of the lid flow down the engagement portion, being led in the horizontal direction, and drop on the upper surface of the concave portion or on the outer side with respect to the blocking rib.
- Furthermore, in the present invention, preferably, in the outdoor unit for an air conditioner configured as above, the outer peripheral rib and the protruding portion are each provided to extend continuously in both side portions and an upper portion of the lid, so that the groove is formed in a U-shape in a front view. According to this configuration, water droplets entering a gap between the standing portion and the outer peripheral rib from the side end portion of the lid flow down within the groove. Further, water droplets entering the gap between the standing portion and the outer peripheral rib from the upper end portion of the lid are led to lateral sides by an upper end portion of the protruding portion and then flow down therefrom within regions of the groove lying on both the side portions.
- Furthermore, in the present invention, preferably, in the outdoor unit for an air conditioner configured as above, a through hole is provided through the standing portion at a position lower than the position of the terminal portion so as to face a lower portion of the groove. According to this configuration, water droplets flowing down the groove are led to an inner surface of the standing portion via the through hole and flow down in an inner portion of the outdoor unit so as to be discharged.
- According to the present invention, since the lid that is a resin molded article and with which the window portion provided at the metallic standing portion of the cabinet is opened/closed has the groove formed by the outer peripheral rib and the protruding portion that come in contact with the standing portion, water droplets entering a gap between the standing portion and the outer peripheral rib are released from pressure by the groove and thus flow down within the groove. This can prevent water entry into the terminal portion. Furthermore, since the lid is a resin molded article, the outer peripheral rib and the protruding portion can be easily formed, and since a groove is not provided on the metallic standing portion, deformation of the standing portion can be suppressed. Thus, man-hours required to manufacture the outdoor unit for an air conditioner can be reduced.

FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing an outdoor unit for an air conditioner of one embodiment, andFIG. 2 is a side view thereof. Anoutdoor unit 1 is disposed outside a room, and electrical components such as a compressor, a fan, and so on are covered with acabinet 2 constituting an outer casing of theoutdoor unit 1. Thecabinet 2 has abottom plate 3 on which a side plate 5 (standing portion), afront plate 4, and a back plate (not shown) that constitute peripheral surfaces are provided in a standing manner and atop plate 6 that is fitted over an upper surface of thecabinet 2. Thebottom plate 3, theside plate 5, thefront plate 4, the back plate, and thetop plate 6 are made of metal in the faun of a steel plate or the like. - In the
cabinet 2, aterminal portion 8 is provided to which wiring for supplying power to the electrical components is connected. Awindow portion 5 a is open at theside plate 5 so as to face theterminal portion 8. An operation of establishing connection to theterminal portion 8 is performed via thewindow portion 5 a. On theside plate 5, afitting portion 5 b is provided in a recessed manner around thewindow portion 5 a, and aremovable lid 10 that is a resin molded article is fitted to thefitting portion 5 b so as to close thewindow portion 5 a. -
FIG. 3 shows a perspective view of thelid 10, andFIG. 4 shows a back view thereof. Furthermore,FIG. 5 shows a sectional view taken on line A-A ofFIG. 4 , andFIG. 6 shows a sectional view taken on line B-B ofFIG. 4 . At a lower end of thelid 10 on a back surface side thereof, apositioning rib 18 is provided in a protruding manner. In thefitting portion 5 b (seeFIG. 1 ) of theside plate 5, aninsertion hole 5 d (seeFIG. 1 ) into which thepositioning rib 18 is to be inserted is provided. Positioning of thelid 10 is performed by engaging an upper edge of thewindow portion 5 a with an after-mentionedengagement portion 17 and by inserting thepositioning rib 18 into theinsertion hole 5 d, and thelid 10 is then fastened with a screw 21 (seeFIG. 1 ). - On the periphery of a back surface of the
lid 10, an outerperipheral rib 11 is provided in a protruding manner. The outerperipheral rib 11 has anupper portion 11 a disposed along an upper edge of thelid 10 and aside portion 11 b disposed along each of both side edges of thelid 10 so as to be continuous with theupper portion 11 a and thus is formed in a U-shape in a front view. - On an inner peripheral side of the outer
peripheral rib 11, an inner peripheral rib 12 (protruding portion) is provided at a predetermined distance from the outerperipheral rib 11 so as to protrude from the back surface of thelid 10. The innerperipheral rib 12 has anupper portion 12 a and aside portion 12 b that are opposed to theupper portion 11 a and theside portion 11 b of the outerperipheral rib 11, respectively. Agroove 13 is therefore formed between the outerperipheral rib 11 and the innerperipheral rib 12. Theupper portion 12 a is provided in such a manner as to be divided to the right and left sides of the after-mentionedengagement portion 17, and resulting partialupper portions 12 a on the right and left sides are continuous with theside portions 12 b on the right and left sides, respectively. The innerperipheral rib 12 is therefore formed in an L-shape in a front view. - In this embodiment, the
groove 13 is formed to have a depth of about 1 mm and a width W3 of about 5 mm that is sufficiently wide with respect to the depth thereof. Furthermore, the outerperipheral rib 11 and the innerperipheral rib 12 are formed to have narrow widths W1 and W2 of about 1.5 mm, respectively. - When the
lid 10 is closed, the outerperipheral rib 11 and the innerperipheral rib 12 come in contact with thefitting portion 5 b (seeFIG. 1 ) of theside plate 5. Furthermore, the outerperipheral rib 11 and the innerperipheral rib 12 are formed to extend to a lower portion of thelid 10, and thegroove 13 is open at a lower end thereof. In thefitting portion 5 b, a throughhole 5 c (seeFIG. 1 ) is formed at a position lower than the position of the terminal portion 8 (seeFIG. 1 ) so as to be opposed to a lower portion of thegroove 13. - A
grip portion 14 is provided at an upper portion of thelid 10. Thegrip portion 14 has aconvex portion 15 in a U-shape in cross section that protrudes on a front surface and aconcave portion 16 in a U-shape in cross section that is recessed from the front surface so as to protrude to the back surface side, which are continuous with each other, and thus is formed in an S-shape in cross section. At a location in theconvex portion 15 on the back surface side, theengagement portion 17 in an L-shape in cross section that is open on an upper side thereof is provided. When a user lifts thelid 10 with his/her fingers hooked on thegrip portion 14, even in a case where thescrew 21 is loose, theengagement portion 17 is engaged with the upper edge of thewindow portion 5 a (seeFIG. 1 ). This allows theoutdoor unit 1 to be lifted and carried. - An
upper wall 15 a of theconvex portion 15 is inclined downward to the front side. Water derived from rain or the like therefore flows down theconvex portion 15, so that water accumulation at a rear end of theconvex portion 15 is prevented, and thus soiling can be reduced. Furthermore, anupper wall 16 a of theconcave portion 16 extends to the front side of thelid 10 while constituting a lower wall of theconvex portion 15 and is inclined downward to the front side. Theupper wall 16 a is provided with ahole 16 b that can prevent slipping of fingers hooked on thegrip portion 14 at the time of lifting theoutdoor unit 1. - The
concave portion 16 protrudes into thewindow portion 5 a (seeFIG. 1 ), and theupper wall 16 a thereof is formed to extend in a horizontal direction along the upper edge of thewindow portion 5 a. At each of both side ends of theconcave portion 16, a blockingrib 19 is provided to extend vertically so as to be continuous with theconcave portion 16. The blockingrib 19 is disposed on an inner peripheral side with respect to the innerperipheral rib 12 so as to protrude into thewindow portion 5 a and extends to below the terminal portion 8 (seeFIG. 1 ) along a side edge of thewindow portion 5 a. - In the
outdoor unit 1 configured as above, water derived from rain or the like falls on theoutdoor unit 1, and under the pressure of wind and rain, water droplets enter a gap between thefitting portion 5 b of theside plate 5 and the outerperipheral rib 11. Since thegroove 13 has a large cross-sectional area with respect to the gap between thefitting portion 5 b and the outerperipheral rib 11, water droplets entering from theside portion 11 b of the outerperipheral rib 11 are released from the pressure in thegroove 13. The water droplets thus flow down within thegroove 13 on an outer side with respect to the innerperipheral rib 12 without entering the inner peripheral side with respect to the innerperipheral rib 12. The water droplets flowing down within thegroove 13 partly flow down an outer surface of theside plate 5 from a lower end of thelid 10 and partly flow down an inner surface of theside plate 5 via the throughhole 5 c. The water droplets are thus discharged outside thewindow portion 5 a. - The outer
peripheral rib 11 and the innerperipheral rib 12 may be connected at lower ends thereof so that the lower end of thegroove 13 is closed. This causes water droplets flowing down thegroove 13 to pass inside thecabinet 2 so as to be discharged and thus can reduce soiling of an outer surface of thecabinet 2. - Water droplets entering from the
upper portion 11 a of the outerperipheral rib 11 flow down onto theengagement portion 17 on which they flow in the horizontal direction and drop therefrom onto an upper surface of theconcave portion 16. The water droplets are partly led to the front side since theupper wall 16 a of theconcave portion 16 is inclined and partly flow in the horizontal direction toward both side portions of theconcave portion 16. Water droplets flowing down theupper wall 16 a to the front side are discharged via thehole 16 b. Water droplets that have been led to both side ends of theupper wall 16 a flow down on an outer side with respect to the blockingrib 19, being led to below theterminal portion 8, and run on the inner surface of theside plate 5 so as to be discharged. This can prevent water entry into theterminal portion 8. - According to this embodiment, since the
lid 10 that is a resin molded article and with which thewindow portion 5 a provided at the metallic side plate 5 (standing portion) of thecabinet 2 is opened/closed has thegroove 13 formed by the outerperipheral rib 11 and the inner peripheral rib 12 (protruding portion) that come in contact with theside plate 5, water droplets entering a gap between theside plate 5 and the outerperipheral rib 11 are released from pressure by thegroove 13 and thus flow down within thegroove 13 so as to be discharged. This can prevent water entry into theterminal portion 8. Furthermore, since thelid 10 is a resin molded article, the outerperipheral rib 11 and the innerperipheral rib 12 can be easily formed, and since a groove is not provided on themetallic side plate 5, deformation of theside plate 5 can be suppressed. Thus, man-hours required to manufacture theoutdoor unit 1 for an air conditioner can be reduced. - Furthermore, the
side portion 11 b of the outerperipheral rib 11 and theside portion 12 b of the innerperipheral portion 12 are formed at each of both side portions of thelid 10, and theconcave portion 16 extending horizontally along an upper end of thewindow portion 5 a and the blockingrib 19 extending vertically so as to be continuous with theconcave portion 16 are provided so as to protrude into thewindow portion 5 a. Theconcave portion 16 is formed in a U-shape in cross section and has theupper wall 16 a inclined downward to the front side. Thus, water droplets entering from theside portion 11 b of the outerperipheral rib 11 flow down thegroove 13, and water droplets entering from theupper portion 11 a drop on theconcave portion 16 and, while flowing down the inclinedupper wall 16 a to the front side, flow in the horizontal direction and then flow down on the outer side with respect to the blockingrib 19. This prevents water droplets from dropping from theconcave portion 16 to aterminal portion 8 side and thus can reliably prevent water entry into theterminal portion 8. - Furthermore, since the
upper wall 16 a of theconcave portion 16 protrudes to the front side from the front surface of thelid 10 and has thehole 16 b, water droplets that have dropped on theconcave portion 16 can be discharged from thehole 16 b. - Furthermore, since water dropping on the
engagement portion 17 is led to both the side portions of thelid 10 by theengagement portion 17 that is engaged with the upper end of thewindow portion 5 a, water droplets can be easily led to the outer side with respect to the blockingrib 19. Thus, water droplets can be more reliably prevented from dropping from theconcave portion 16 to theterminal portion 8 side. Theengagement portion 17 may be formed to extend in the horizontal direction to positions opposed to both the side ends of theconcave portion 16. - Furthermore, since the through
hole 5 c is provided through theside plate 5 at a position lower than the position of theterminal portion 8 so as to face the lower portion of thegroove 13, water droplets flowing down thegroove 13 can be easily made to pass inside thecabinet 2 so as to be discharged. - Although in this embodiment, the
window portion 5 a is provided at theside plate 5, thewindow portion 5 a may be provided at thefront plate 4 or the back plate that constitutes a peripheral surface of thecabinet 2. Furthermore, although thewindow portion 5 a is provided on a vertical surface of theside plate 5, thewindow portion 5 a may be provided on an inclined surface provided on a peripheral surface of thecabinet 2. Furthermore, theside plate 5 may be formed integrally with one or a plurality among thefront plate 4, the back plate, and thetop plate 6. - Furthermore, the inner
peripheral rib 12 may be formed in the shape of a flat plate that is wide in a width W2 direction. That is, a protruding portion that protrudes from the back surface of thelid 10 and is disposed on the inner peripheral side with respect to the outerperipheral rib 11 could be used to form thegroove 13. - Furthermore, the
engagement portion 17 may be replaced with another member that can support a load applied thereto when thegrip portion 14 is lifted. In this case, theupper portion 12 a of the innerperipheral rib 12 provided in such a manner as to be divided to both the lateral sides of theengagement portion 17, i.e. the partialupper portions 12 a could be formed to extend in the horizontal direction so as to be continuous with each other, so that thegroove 13 is formed in a U-shape in a front view. This causes water droplets entering from theupper portion 11 a of the outerperipheral rib 11 to be led within thegroove 13 to the lateral sides along theupper portion 12 a of the innerperipheral rib 12 and then to flow down therefrom so as to be discharged. - The present invention is applicable to an outdoor unit for an air conditioner, which has a lid for covering a terminal portion to which power supply wiring is connected.

Claims (7)
1. An outdoor unit for an air conditioner, comprising:
a cabinet that constitutes an outer casing;
a terminal portion that is disposed in the cabinet and to which power supply wiring is connected;
a metallic standing portion that is provided in a standing manner so as to constitute a peripheral surface of the cabinet and at which a window portion is open so as to face the terminal portion; and
a lid that is a resin molded article and with which the window portion is opened/closed,
wherein
an outer peripheral rib is provided that protrudes on a periphery of a back surface of the lid and comes in contact with the standing portion, and
a protruding portion is provided that protrudes from the back surface of the lid along an inner peripheral side with respect to the outer peripheral rib so that a groove is formed between the protruding portion and the outer peripheral rib and comes in contact with the standing portion.
2. The outdoor unit for an air conditioner according to claim 1 , wherein
the outer peripheral rib and the protruding portion are each formed on both side portions of the lid,
a concave portion is provided that is formed in a U-shape in cross section by being recessed from a front surface of the lid while protruding into the window portion and has an upper wall that extends horizontally along an upper end of the window portion and is inclined downward to a front side, and
a blocking rib is provided that protrudes into the window portion so as to be continuous with a side end of the concave portion and extends vertically along a side edge of the window portion.
3. The outdoor unit for an air conditioner according to claim 2 , wherein
the upper wall of the concave portion protrudes to the front side from the front surface of the lid and has a hole.
4. The outdoor unit for an air conditioner according to claim 2 , wherein
an engagement portion is provided that is formed so as to protrude on an inner surface of the lid and is engaged with the upper end of the window portion when the lid is lifted with fingers hooked on the concave portion, so that water dropping on the engagement portion is led to both the side portions of the lid by the engagement portion.
5. The outdoor unit for an air conditioner according to claim 1 , wherein
the outer peripheral rib and the protruding portion are each provided to extend continuously in both side portions and an upper portion of the lid, so that the groove is formed in a U-shape in a front view.
6. The outdoor unit for an air conditioner according to claim 1 , wherein
a through hole is provided through the standing portion at a position lower than a position of the terminal portion so as to face a lower portion of the groove.
7. The outdoor unit for an air conditioner according to claim 3 , wherein
an engagement portion is provided that is formed so as to protrude on an inner surface of the lid and is engaged with the upper end of the window portion when the lid is lifted with fingers hooked on the concave portion, so that water dropping on the engagement portion is led to both the side portions of the lid by the engagement portion.
