AN OUTDOOR UNIT (1) FOR AN AIR CONDITIONER, COMPRISING: A CABINET (2) WHICH FORMS THE EXTERIOR COVER OF THE OUTDOOR UNIT; A TERMINAL (8) WHICH IS DISPOSED WITHIN THE CABINET (2) AND TO WHICH THE WIRING FOR ELECTRIC POWER SUPPLY IS CONNECTED; A METALLIC RISING SECTION (5) WHICH RISES SO AS TO FORM THE PERIPHERAL SURFACE OF THE CABINET (2) AND HAS A WINDOW (5A) OPENED SO AS TO FACE THE TERMINAL (8); AND A LID (10) WHICH IS A RESIN MOLDING AND OPENS AND CLOSES THE WINDOW (5A). THE LID (10) IS PROVIDED WITH: AN OUTER PERIPHERAL RIB (11) WHICH PROTRUDES FROM THE PERIPHERY OF THE REAR SURFACE OF THE LID (10) AND MAKES CONTACT WITH THE RISING SECTION (5); AND A RIDGE SECTION (12) WHICH EXTENDS ALONG THE INNER PERIPHERY OF THE OUTER PERIPHERAL RIB (11) AND PROTRUDES FROM THE REAR SURFACE OF THE LID (10) TO FORM A GROOVE (13) BETWEEN THE RIDGE SECTION (12) AND THE OUTER PERIPHERAL RIB (11) AND WHICH MAKES CONTACT WITH THE RISING SECTION (5).
