Abstract

A non-constricting garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest. The garment includes a chest/back-engaging portion, and a pair of long sleeves. The chest/back-engaging portion has a pair of shoulders. The pair of long sleeves extend from the pair of shoulders of the chest/back-engaging portion, respectively, so as to form the non-constricting garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.

Description

1. CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

The instant non-provisional patent application claims priority from provisional patent application No. 61/465,695, which was flied on Mar. 23, 2011, for an UPPER TORSO GARMENT FOR USE WITH SLEEVELESS APPAREL, by Sheila Tronn, and incorporated entirely herein by reference thereto.

2. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A. Field of the Invention
The embodiments of the present invention relate to a garment for a wearer, and more particularly, the embodiments of the present invention relate to a non-constricting sleeve garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.
B. Description of the Prior Art
Numerous innovations for garments have been provided in the prior art, which will be described below in chronological order to show advancement in the art, and which are incorporated entirely herein by reference thereto. Even though these innovations may be suitable for the specific individual purposes to which they address, however, they differ from the embodiments of the present invention in that they do not teach a non-constricting sleeve garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.
(1) U.S. Pat. No. 4,625,338 to Starling.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,625,338 issued to Starling on Dec. 2, 1986 in U.S. class 2 and subclass 106 teaches a ladies' garment for smoothing the wrinkles and flabbiness in the skin and muscles of the forearm and upper arm to improve appearance, primarily, when wearing sleeveless dresses and blouses. The garment is made of a two-way resilient stretchable sheer fabric, and includes a waist encircling portion connected to a pair of spaced extending arm portions. The arm portions extend to the wrist, and are hidden from view by wearing a bracelet or the like. The wrist portion is provided with separable segments for adjusting the length thereof. The other end of the arm portions extend to the shoulders for applying a tension to maintain the arm portions in position. The garment is not visible from the front or rear of the wearer.
(2) U.S. Pat. No. 5,431,030 to Ishizaki et al.
U.S. Pat. No. 5,431,030 issued to Ishizaki et al. on Jul. 11, 1995 in U.S. class 66 and subclass 176 teaches a garment with sleeves, which includes a stretchable and fabric. An underbust area of the garment includes a high-gauge knitting with relatively high density shoulders. An upper back area of the garment includes a low-gauge knitting with relatively low density, and cuff areas of the garment includes a medium-gauge knitting with relatively medium density.
(3) U.S. Pat. No. Des. 463,092 to Perez.
U.S. Pat. No. Des. 463,092 issued to Perez on Sep. 24, 2002 in U.S. class D2 and subclass 717 teaches the ornamental design for a shirt.
(4) U.S. Pat. No. Des. 474,323 to Carter.
U.S. Pat. No. Des. 474,323 issued to Carter on May 13, 2003 in U.S. class D2 and subclass 717 teaches the ornamental design for a tee shirt with thermal sleeves.
(5) United States Patent Application Publication Number 2005/0015865 to Chaix et al.
United States Patent Application Publication Number 2005/0015865 published to Chaix et al. on Jan. 27, 2005 in U.S. class 2 and subclass 456 teaches a garment for protecting the upper portion of the body having, on the back and on the shoulders, a yoke made of a material resistant to abrasion.
(6) U.S. Pat. No. 7,429,206 to Perry.
U.S. Pat. No. 7,429,206 issued to Perry on Sep. 30, 2008 in U.S. class 450 and subclass 86 teaches a ladies garment to be worn under a brassiere for supporting and lifting the breasts and smoothing the appearance of the upper torso and arms without interfering with the appearance of the brassiere under outerwear. The garment, made primarily from hosiery material, includes tapered sides fastening in front between the breasts with adjustable and releasable fasteners providing adjustable support and lift, and having sub-pectoral support portions disposed in the tapered sides and covering and supporting the lower lateral and bottom portions of the breasts and the sub-pectorals. The garment additionally include support portions on the underside of the sleeves at the triceps, and armpit panels made from breathable or moisture-wicking fabric allowing for ventilation and moisture-wicking. To minimize slippage and displacement, the garment is secured to the brassiere straps by cloth strips attached at the shoulder area of the garment.
(7) United States Patent Application Publication Number 2010/0199403 to Greenblat.
United States Patent Application Publication Number 2010/0199403 published to Greenblat on Aug. 12, 2010 in U.S. class 2 and subclass 69 teaches a reversible garment accessory to be seamlessly worn with sleeveless or strapless tops, dresses, or other garments for the purpose of varying the appearance of the original garment, while at the same time concealing a woman's arms without adding undue bulkiness on the torso of the wearer.
It is apparent that numerous innovations for garments have been provided in the prior art that are adapted to be used. Furthermore, even though these innovations may be suitable for the specific individual purposes to which they address, however, they would not be suitable for the purposes of the embodiments of the present invention as heretofore described, namely, a non-constricting sleeve garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.

3. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Thus, an object of the embodiments of the present invention is to provide a non-constricting sleeve garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest, which avoids the disadvantages of the prior art.
Briefly stated, another object of the embodiments of the present invention is to provide a non-constricting sleeve garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest. The garment includes a chest/back-engaging portion, and a pair of long sleeves. The chest/back-engaging portion has a pair of shoulders. The pair of long sleeves extend from the pair of shoulders of the chest/back-engaging portion, respectively, so as to form the non-constricting garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.
The novel features considered characteristic of the embodiments of the present invention are set forth in the appended claims. The embodiments of the present invention themselves, however, both as to their construction and to their method of operation together with additional objects and advantages thereof will be best understood from the following description of the specific embodiments when read and understood in connection with the accompanying figures of the drawing.

6. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

A. Introductory.
Referring now to the figures, in which like numerals indicate like parts, and particularly to FIGS. 1 and 2, which are, respectively, a diagrammatic front perspective view of the non-constricting sleeve garment of the embodiments of the present invention covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest, and a diagrammatic rear perspective view of the non-constricting sleeve garment of the embodiments of the present invention covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest, the non-constricting garment of the embodiments of the present invention is shown generally at 10 for covering flawed and normal upper arms 12, armpits 14, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.
B. Configuration of the Non-Constricting Garment 10.
The non-constricting garment 10 comprises a chest/back-engaging portion 16 and a pair of long sleeves 18. The chest/back-engaging portion 16 has a pair of shoulders 20. The pair of long sleeves 18 extend from the pair of shoulders 20 of the chest/back-engaging portion 16, respectively, so as to form the non-constricting garment 10 for covering flawed and normal upper arms 12, armpits 14, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.
The non-constricting garment 10 is one-piece, and can be either worn alone or as an add-on to another garment and conceals a woman's arms without adding undue bulkiness to the woman by not adding another layer of clothing.
The pair of long sleeves 18 are loosely fitting.
The chest/back-engaging portion 16 has a low neck line 22, both front and back.
The chest/back-engaging portion 16 taperingly depends and terminates in an elastic hand 24 for applying a tension to maintain the chest/back-engaging portion 16 in position and avoid slippage and displacement, while the presence of the chest/back-engaging portion 16 holds the pair of long sleeves 18 in place.
The non-constricting garment 10 is washable, provides a good fit without wrinkles, is not bulky, not heavy, not hot, does not show lines, and does not create another layer of clothing.
The non-constricting garment 10 can also be worn as a post mastectomy garment and as a post weight-loss garment.
The chest/back-engaging portion 16 conforms via size, while the long sleeves 18 don't because they are loose.
The non-constricting garment 10 is made, preferably, from 80% spandex and 20% nylon.
C. Impressions.
It will be understood that each of the elements described above or two or more together may also find a useful application in other types of constructions differing from the types described above.
While the embodiments of, the present invention have been, illustrated and described as embodied in a non-constricting garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest, however, they are not limited to the details shown, since it will be understood that various omissions, modifications, substitutions, and changes in the forms and details of the embodiments of the present invention illustrated and their operation can be made by those skilled in the art without departing in any way from the spirit of the embodiments of the present invention.
Without further analysis the foregoing will so fully reveal the gist of the embodiments of the present invention that others can by applying current knowledge readily adapt them for various applications without omitting features that from the standpoint of prior art fairly constitute characteristics of the generic or specific aspects of the embodiments of the present invention.

Claims

1. A non-constricting garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest, said garment comprising:

a) a chest/back-engaging portion; and

b) a pair of long sleeves;

wherein the chest/back-engaging portion has a pair of shoulders; and

wherein the pair of long sleeves extend from the pair of shoulders of the chest/back-engaging portion, respectively, so as to form the non-constricting garment for covering flawed and normal upper arms, armpits, and/or full length arms when wearing under sleeveless or short sleeved garments, as well as accessorizing sleeveless and short sleeved garments to add beauty and fashion interest.

2. The garment of claim 1, wherein said non-constricting garment is one-piece.

3. The garment of claim 1, wherein said pair of long sleeves are loosely fitting.

4. The garment of claim 1, wherein said chest/back-engaging portion has a low neck line, both front and back.

5. The garment of claim 1, wherein said chest/back-engaging portion taperingly depends and terminates in an elastic band for applying a tension to maintain said chest/back-engaging portion in position and avoid slippage and displacement, while the presence of said chest/back-engaging portion holds said pair of long sleeves in place.

6. The garment of claim 1, wherein said non-constricting garment is washable.

7. The garment of claim 1, wherein said non-constricting garment does not wrinkle.

8. The garment of claim 1, wherein said chest/back-engaging portion conforms via size, while said pair of long sleeves don't because said pair of long sleeves are loose.

9. The garment of claim 1, wherein said non-constricting garment is made from 80% spandex and 20% nylon.
