This invention relates to a smoking device which may be used as a pipe, or

holder,

the general object of the invention a cigarette or cigar being means whereby the device can be easily and quickly cleaned.

This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accom- I panying .drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

The front or inner portion of the stem is substantially cylindrical and the rest of the stem tapers to the tip 3. Figure 4 shows an attachment for thestem A, so that the stem can be used as a holder for cigarettes. This attachment consists of a body part I3, preferably of the shape shown in Figure 1, and having its small end reduced and internally threaded, as shown at 4, to receive the tube 3, if the tube and spreader are to be used, and an internally threaded sleeve i5 is attached to the large end of the body in spaced relation therefrom to receive the threaded end of the lining used with the stem. Thus by placing a cigarette in the body !3 and threading the body to the stem, said stem can be used as a cigarette holder.

Figure 5 shows an attachment E6 to be used with the stem so that the same can be used as a cigar holder. This attachment comprises a body having a large socket l1 therein for receiving the small end of the cigar and its other end is provided with a small internally threaded socket i8 for receiving the threaded end of the stem and this socket I8 is in communication with the socket ll through a small threaded bore I9 which may receive the threaded end of the tube 8 so that the tube and spreader may also be used with the device when the same is used as a cigar holder. The use of the tube and spreader, however, is optional. 7

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.

It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

A smoking device of the class described comprising a stem formed with a tip adapted to be 5 z v 2,011,478 r t received in the mouth of the user; a lining extending from the tip through the stem with its front portion projecting beyond the stem, said projecting portion being externallyscrew threaded, a member threaded in said extended part, a tube carried by said member and extending into the front part of the bore of the stem, a collar carried by the free end of said tube, a pair of oppositely arranged arms having one end connected to the collar and a conical spreader connected to the rear ends of said arms with its conical part directed forwardly.
