Abstract

“Cabana Golf” is set in a “driving range” type of atmosphere. Existing ranges would be a perfect fit to install “Cabana Golf”. The concept consists of taking practice at a driving range to the next level. The objective of this design is for the golfer to play a regular golf round from a single location, with shade from a cabana or tent. It has a distinct course design and complete set of rules. These rules are geared towards the basic strategy of traditional golf. This concept will allow a player to practice or compete with all types of golf shots without the physical stress of walking the course, poor weather or unavailable tee times. “Cabana Golf” will also assist the novice player to prepare him or her for the actual course.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The field of endeavor is pertaining to the game play style of golf. The game of golf is Traditionally played on a course designed with 9 to 18 holes. Each hole includes a Turf tee box, fairway, rough, sand bunker and green with a hole or better known as the pin. The rate of play on a traditional golf course is rather fast. Less experienced players may tend to be rushed by the other players playing behind a novice golfer. The extensive amount energy it takes to walk the course as well as the weather factors of the hot sun, wind or rain can greatly affect the players ability to perform up to par. It is all of these factors from first hand experience that have brought to light the concept of “Cabana Golf”.
The concept of “Cabana Golf” is designed to solve the negative issues of playing golf on a traditional golf course. Included but not limited to the following, denial of requested tee time, poor Weather, little or no experience and lack of physical strength required to play the course.

BREIF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The concept of “Cabana Golf” is to offer a potential golfer a distinct or certain style of golf Play without the negative issues of a traditional golf course. This concept is designed to be played in a Driving range atmosphere. There are a set of rules that apply to this type of “Cabana Golf” play. It is the set of rules and course design that make up the distinct or certain style of play. The rules of “Cabana Golf” incorporate all the different types of golf shots required in traditional golf. The “Cabana Golf” course is made up of 3 areas to shoot from. The turf area (short synthetic grass), the rough area (long synthetic grass) and sand or bunker area. Also there are 3 greens placed at different distances. The first green is placed at 10 yards from the turf, the second green is placed at a distance of 45 yards from the turf and the third green is placed at a distance of 90 yards from the turf. The final portion is the fairway driving screen, which is placed at 100 yards from the turf.
The distinct style of play will allow the golfer (s) to spend most of the time under the shade of a cabana or tent, stop the issue of “rate of play” since there are no players waiting behind and it will also help the player conserve energy by not walking the entire course with the heavy golf clubs over the shoulder.
The “Cabana Golf” course can be played on by using an actual golf course score card or the course can be practiced on by selecting different types of shots from the turf, rough or sand. The golfer(s) will have the option of either practice or play. The cabana will allow up to four players at one time. The cabana or tent is rented to the golfers at an hourly rate.

BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 is a birds-eye view of the overall layout of a 3 stall cabana course. It shows the cabana, sand, turf, and rough areas. It also shows the three greens and the fairway screen distances and where they are placed.

FIG. 2 is a 3D view of a 3 stall cabana course. It shows the table for the players, the T.V, Clubs, balls and cabana placement in regards to the players and the course. It also shows the sand, turf, rough areas and the fairway screen with distances.

FIG. 3 is a drawing of the sand, turf, rough and the golf clubs, balls and T.V console. Also the turf area holes to putt into.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

The construction process to build the “Cabana golf course will consist an area of flat land or an existing driving range. An area of 15000 square feet is needed to build a three stall course. The seven greens would be installed first, then the console and the three areas of turf, sand and rough. The console is made of wood and holds the balls inside and the clubs rest on the outside. A flat screen t.v is installed on the inner side of the console facing the players table and chairs. The fairway screen and borders are made of vinyl and nylon with wood supports every 50 feet. The greens are natural grass. The turf and rough are synthetic man made products with a rubber backing. The sand is of a fine grade and is 8 inches deep.
The rules of play are the key to the distinctive design of the course. The rules are as follows: A player will step up to the turf and place a ball on the turf tee. The player will drive the ball for the fairway screen. If the players' ball hits the fairway screen on a fly, then that shot is considered on the fairway. If the players' ball hits the upper fairway screen, then this would be considered a long drive on the fairway, his or her next shot would be from the turf, without the use of the tee to the 45 yard green. If the players' ball hits the lower portion of the fairway screen, then this would be considered a short drive on the fairway and his or her next shot would be from the turf, with the use of the tee to the 90 yard green. If a player misses the fairway screen on the drive for the fairway, but hits the upper portion of the screen then this would be considered a long drive but in the rough and the player will have to hit the next shot from the rough to the 45 yard green. If the players' drive for the fairway misses the fairway screen, but hits the lower portion, then this would be considered a short drive in the rough. The players' next shot would be from the rough to the 90 yard green. The player will shoot for the green from the turf of the rough. If a player misses the shot for the green then this would be considered in the sand trap or bunker. The player will then have to shoot from the sand to the 10 yard green. The player will keep shooting from the sand until the ball makes it way onto the 10 yard green. Once the players' ball is on the green he or she now putts. The turf has two holes to putt into. The right side hole is for a right handed putter and the left side hole is for a left handed putter. Once the ball is finally putt into the hole then the player will score the number of strokes on the designated score card.
The rules for a par 3 hole would be to shoot for the 90 yard green instead of the fairway screen. The rules for the par 5 would be to drive for the fairway screen, if the fairway screen is hit then the next shot would be from the turf without the use of the tee to the fairway screen again. Two upper fairway screen shots will allow the player to shoot for the 10 yard green and two lower fairway screen shots will allow the player to shot for the 90 yard green and one upper and one lower shot will allow the player to shoot for the 45 yard green. If any shot misses the fairway screen then the next shot will be from the rough.

1. The concept of “Cabana Golf” is to help potential golfers play a distinct type of golf without the negative or physical issues pertaining to traditional golf play. “Cabana Golf” will create a stress free environment for all golf skill levels and allow practice play as well as competition.
