Abstract
A box cover includes a cover panel, a pair of first side panels, and a pair of second side panels. After assembly, the box cover is collapsable.
Description
- 1. Technical Field
- The present disclosure relates to box covers, and more particularly to a box cover which facilitates storage and transportation.
- 2. Description of Related Art
- Referring to
FIGS. 4 and 5 , a typical box cover may include acover panel 102, a pair offirst side panels 104 extending from a first pair of opposite edges of thecover panel 102, and a pair ofsecond side panels 106 extending from a second pair of opposite edges of thecover panel 102. A pair ofglue panels 108 is located at opposite ends of each of thefirst side panels 104. After the box cover is folded from an unassembled state (seeFIG. 4 ) to an assembled state (seeFIG. 5 ), thefirst side panels 104 and thesecond side panels 106 are folded to be perpendicular to thecover panel 102. Theglue panels 108 are folded and adhered to the interior surfaces thesecond side panels 106. However, the assembled box cover, which is thicker than an unassembled box cover, takes up considerable storage space, which does not facilitate economical storage and transportation. - Therefore, there is room for improvement within the art.
-
FIG. 1 is a developed (flat) view of a box cover according to an exemplary embodiment of the present disclosure. -
FIG. 2 is an assembled schematic view of the assembled box cover inFIG. 1 . -
FIG. 3 is a collapsed view of the box cover ofFIG. 2 . -
FIG. 4 is a developed (flat) view of a typical box cover. -
FIG. 5 is an assembled schematic view of the box cover inFIG. 4 . - The disclosure is illustrated by way of example and not by way of limitation. In the figures of the accompanying drawings in which like references indicate similar elements. It should be noted that references to “an” or “one” embodiment in this disclosure are not necessarily to the same embodiment, and such references mean at least one.
- Referring to
FIG. 1 , an exemplary embodiment of abox cover 10 comprises an integral panel (such as a sheet of paperboard) which is divided into several parts: acover panel 12, a pair offirst side panels 14, a pair ofsecond side panels 16, and fourglue panels 145 located at four corners of thecover panel 12. Thecover panel 12 has a rectangle shape with four vertices. Each of thefirst side panels 14 is connected with thecover panel 12 by afirst score 11. Each of thesecond side panels 16 is connected with thecover panel 12 by asecond score 13. Each of theglue panels 145 has a square shape and connects with thefirst side panels 14 by athird score 143. Each of thefirst side panels 14 has a pair of diagonal perforatedfold lines 141 at opposite corners thereof. Each of the diagonalperforated fold lines 141 extends from one of the vertices of thecover panel 12 to an outer edge of the correspondingfirst side panel 14. An angle between thefirst score 11 and each of the diagonal perforatedfold lines 141 may be 45 degrees. Acut 147 is defined between theglue panel 145 and thesecond side panel 16 at each of the four corners of thecover panel 12. In an exemplary embodiment, a width of each of thefirst side panels 14 is substantially equal to the width of thesecond side panels 16. - Referring to
FIG. 2 , to fold thebox cover 10 into an assembled state, thefirst side panels 14 and thesecond side panels 16 are folded along thefirst scores 11 and thesecond scores 13 to form a certain angle (typically 90 degrees). Theglue panels 145 are folded and affixed to inner surfaces of thesecond side panels 16. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , to fold the assembledbox cover 10 into a collapsed state, triangular corners 14 a of thefirst side panels 14 and thesecond side panels 16 are folded inwardly along the diagonal perforatedfold lines 141 and thesecond scores 13 until abutting on an inner side of thecover panel 12. Simultaneously, a trapezoidal-shapedmain portion 14 b of each of thefirst side panels 14 is folded out into a collapsed position onto thecover panel 12. In the collapsed state, thebox cover 10 takes up less storage space than that of abox cover 10 being shipped assembled and not collapsed, which improves storage and increases transportation yield. - While the present disclosure has been illustrated by the description of preferred embodiments thereof, and while the preferred embodiments have been described in considerable detail, it is not intended to restrict or in any way limit the scope of the appended claims to such details. Additional advantages and modifications within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure will readily appear to those skilled in the art. Therefore, the present disclosure is not limited to the specific details and illustrative examples shown and described.
