Abstract
The Smart Zipper is designed to seal off all openings for bugs to escape from. The encasements come with a 3 sided zipper that come around and ends at the extended zipper part. The extended zipper is about 5 5/12 inches and has an extra lining inside to eliminate all spaces. Attached to the zipper extension is Velcro that folds in half to create a blockage in the path way. The concept in the design was to leave no passage way but eliminating all the free space and also add the seal wall for guaranteed protection.
Description
- The invention relates to a mattress encasements, and, more specifically is related to the extension closing on the mattress encasement. The extension that seals all openings for escape.
- Bedbugs are known to be traveling pests that hide in dark places. Bed bugs can be found almost anywhere, mainly in used furniture, cruise ships, hotels, motels and in homes. Bedbugs feed off blood, only coming out an hour before dawn. After getting their blood meal they like to go back to their safe hiding place. Having such a flat and small body they are able to crawl and escape from almost anywhere.
- The technique used is to starve the bed bugs within the mattress. The encasement covers all the surroundings and sealing off the exit. After the encasement is put on, the zipper area is closed off by an extension that folds over and closes forming a barrier.
- Problems exist when either the encasement is ripped or the zipper is not closed all the way and there is room for the bugs to escape.
- The objective of the current invention is to provide a structure to prevent bed bug escapement using an extension that closes and forms a barrier wall to block the passage.
- Another objective is forming a housing for the bed bugs within the encasement and starving them.
- In one embodiment, creating a seal for the mattress, box spring and pillow cases. The system covers the entire structure, with a closing mechanism that seals any openings for escape. The zipper extension is attached to the encasement and closes tight.
- The drawing included are not to scale. It is to give a better understand of the invention.
