Abstract

A dye hairbrush includes a pair of chambers formed within a main body. Dye is stored in a first chamber and a second chamber. The pair of chambers hold liquid dye components. An intermediate channel is in fluid connection with the first chamber and the second chamber. A pair of plungers includes a first plunger and a second plunger. The pair of plungers are mounted within the first chamber and the second chamber respectively, so that the pair of plungers expel the contents. A brush stem is substantially hollow and has brush bristles extending from the brush stem. The brush stem has liquid openings disposed on a wall of the brush stem. A baffle member placed within the brush stem promotes dye mixing.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • The brush generally has a main body 1. In a first embodiment of the present invention FIG. 1, the brush comprises a plurality of bristles extending from a brush stem. The figures are not drawn to scale. The brush stem is drawn to an enlarged size for purposes of clarity and in actual use, the stem has a smaller volume. The brush 20 has a brush stem 22. Bristles extend from the brush. Liquid openings 24 are disposed in a side wall of the brush stem. The liquid openings direct liquid dye from the base of the main channel 26 to a user's hair. An intermediate channel also drawn to an enlarged size for purposes of clarity, would have a smaller volume. The intermediate channel receives the liquid from a first chamber 31 and a second chamber 32. The first chamber has a first dye component and the second chamber 32 has a second dye component. The first chamber and the second chamber are driven by a worm gear 37 which is actuated by a rotating handle 38. The handle allows fine control of the output of dye components to the main channel 26.
  • A lid 50 closes a storage shell 52. The storage shell can be telescopically mounted over the brush main body 1 so that it slides back during years to reveal the brush. The storage shell is telescopic mounted over the main body, so the storage shell houses the brush in a storage configuration and retracts to expose the brush in a retracted position. A first plate 98 is located in a first chamber 31 supported by a first plunger 35. A second plate 96 is located in a second chamber 32 supported by a second plunger 36. The first plate 98 and the second plate 96 travel from a base position 92 up to a top position 94. The length of the plunger is also not necessarily to scale and can be relatively short, or relatively long as seen in the present drawings.
  • FIG. 2 shows a second embodiment of the present invention with a brush 20 having liquid openings 24 mounted on a shaft extension 42. A plurality of baffles can be placed within the shaft extension 42. Optionally, the plurality of baffles can be placed in the main channel 26. The liquid mixes itself around the baffles. A dual plunger 310 is actuated when a user pushes a dye pusher 68 against the dye cartridge 60. The cartridge 60 has a cartridge front cap 62 and a cartridge rear cap 64. The cartridge front cap 62 has front openings extending into the shaft extension 42. The cartridge rear cap 64 receives a present for us from the dual plunger 310. The dual plunger can have a cylindrical profile fitting within a cylindrical dual plunger recess 69. The dye cartridge recess 66 receives the cartridge 60. After use, a user may remove the cartridge. The cartridge 60 is preferably collapsible to allow full compression. The cartridge front cap 62 forms a seal so that dye is not released from the shaft extension 42. The volume of the shaft extension 42 is preferably negligible.
  • The plunger assembly in both embodiments is a syringe type configuration with the first chamber 31 and the second chamber 32 formed as cylindrical chambers and with the first plate 98 and the second plate 96 formed as circular plates. The circular plates form watertight seals with the cylindrical chamber wall. The handle 38 can be rotated to expel contents by pushing the plate. Optionally, a round cap 88 provides a surface to press against. Fluid passages located in the intermediate channel, not shown, direct liquid from the first and second chamber to the main channel 26. The main body and other parts of the device can be made in transparent plastic.
