Abstract

This time saving device is apparent during the course of play. In addition, virtually all of The “Golfer's Sidekick 2” towel is used while on average only 30 to 40 percent of the standard towel is used and is attached either to the golf cart or one is tucked into the trouser making only a small portion of the towel available for use. Time constraints, especially during tournament play makes the “Golfer's Sidekick 2” extremely valuable. Existing towels lacks convenience of use and the inability to consistently make available the total use of the towel. The total embodiment, reversible towel with scouring pads, the pouch with attached accessories makes the “Golfer's Sidekick 2” the most versatile golfer's cleaning kit available.

      • Glue—Perma Bond
  • Terry Cloth
  • The terry cloth material can be of varied weight or color, and should be cut at about eight and one half inches by approximately thirty-six inches in length. The extra half inch in width is to allow for sewing space bringing the finished width to about four inches. Once cut, fold lengthwise and sew a lengthwise seam. Then invert, turning the seam inside out; join the two ends forming a tube.
  • Genuine leather or nagahyde—Golfers Sidekick (2) Pouch
  • The “Golfer's Sidekick (2) pouch (FIG. 11) should be sewn with an upholstery strength thread. Cut materials as follows:
      • 1. Pouch—Two pieces of leather or nagahyde material measuring six and three-fourths inches square. (FIG. 14)
      • 2. Slip Ring Loop—One piece of leather or nagahyde material measuring three inches wide by three and one quarter inches long (FIG. 16)
      • 3. Belt Loop—One piece of leather or nagahyde material measuring five and one quarter inches wide by seven and one half inches long (FIG. 15)
      • 4. Tee Holder—One piece of elastic measuring 2½″ long (FIG. 11)
  • Assembly—
      • Step 1 Stitch zipper to the top edges of the 6¾″ square pieces (cut in #1 above) allowing ⅝″ on either end of the zipper for side seams, as follows:
        • a. Open zipper (FIG. 13) and place face down on right side of material, placing the zipper teeth ⅝″ from the raw edge of material. Stitch close to teeth.
        • b. Turn zipper face up, folding material back from zipper teeth; topstitch ⅛″ from fold.
        • c. Close zipper and align second piece of material so that side seams are even; pin zipper in place.
        • d. Open zipper and follow steps a and b again.
        • e. Close zipper. (If it is necessary to shorten zipper, bar tack across bottom of zipper, and trim excess zipper even with sides of material.)
      • Step 2 Elastic Tee Holder—(FIG. 11)
        • a. With zipper closed and pull tab to the left, fold one raw edge of elastic piece (cut in #4 above) under and place the top right corner 1″ below zipper topstitching and 1⅛″ from right side (raw edge), laying the folded edge of elastic parallel to raw edge; stitch in place along folded edge.
        • b. Without stretching elastic, fold under opposite raw edge of elastic and stitch in place.
        • c. Divide the distance between top and bottom stitching into three equal sections; stitch along each dividing line parallel to top and bottom stitching, forming three “pouches” for insertion of tees.
      • Step 3 Slip Ring Loop (FIG. 16)
        • a. Fold piece cut in #2 above in half lengthwise with right sides together.
        • b. Stitch one end and along lengthwise edge ⅝″ from raw edges.
        • c. Trim seam allowances to ¼″, and trim corners diagonally.
        • d. Turn piece right-side-out, keeping corners square.
        • e. Topstitch along seamed and folded edges ¼″ from edge, beginning at unfinished edge making one continuous stitching line ending at unfinished edge.
        • f. Fold over ½″ of bottom raw edge of same piece. Place fold ⅛ below top stitching of zipper ensuring folded edges are evenly aligned; stitch in place.
      • Step 4 Belt Loop—(FIG. 15)
        • a. Fold piece cut in #3 above in half lengthwise with right sides together.
        • b. Stitch one end and along lengthwise edge ⅝″ from raw edges.
        • c. Trim seam allowances to ¼″, and trim corners diagonally.
        • d. Turn piece right-side-out, keeping corners square.
        • e. Topstitch along seamed and folded edges ¼″ from edge, beginning at unfinished edge making one continuous stitching line ending at unfinished edge.
        • f. On back side of Golfer's Sidekick (2), place unfinished edge ¼″ below topstitching at zipper (with finished edge away from zipper) and centered between side edges; stitch in place.
        • g. Fold finished edge toward zipper and topstitch in place ensuring that raw edges are enclosed (covered).
      • Step 5 Finishing Pouch (FIG. 14)
        • a. With right sides together and raw edges aligned, stitch side and bottom seams having a ⅝″ seam allowance.
        • b. Trim seam allowance to ¼″, trimming corners diagonally.
        • c. Fold right-side-out ensuring corners are square.
        • d. Fold finished edge of belt loop toward front of Golfer's Sidekick (2) aligning finished edge ⅛″ above zipper; attach snap with placement such that maximum room is allowed for belt.
        • e. Attach ball marker to bottom left corner of front side of Golfer's Sidekick (2) using Perma Bond glue.

Bond the base of marker, FIG. 140 a, at lower right or lower left corner of Sidekick 2 caddy. A dab of industrial strength Perma Bond type glue is all that is needed at center back of base and then held in place with a clamp for a minimum of fifteen minutes.
  • 3 Inch Slip Ring (FIG. 8)
  • The three inch (3″) slip ring can be purchased through a manufacturer or ordered through a local craft merchant. Attached diagram shows method of slip ring installation.
  • Snap (FIG. 9, 120)
  • A snap tool is required.
  • Scour Pad Material (FIG. 4)
  • Scotch bright or similar type scour pad can be purchased at most grocery stores and or home improvement stores. Pad should be one-quarter of an inch in thickness. Cut four (4) standard scour pads into three-quarter inch squares. Place scour pads at either end of each side of terry cloth. Sew to terry cloth in place so as to have a pad at top and bottom of terry cloth.
  • Glue
  • An industrial Perma Bond type glue would be necessary for a strong hold.
  • Golf/Sports Cleaning Device
  • 1. Field of the Invention
