Description

PORTABLE GOLF ACCESSORY APPARATUS
Field
A portable apparatus for holding golf accessories is described, in particular an apparatus that can be carried on one's person.
Background
The game of golf requires the use of multiple accessories including balls, tees, ball markers, and divot repair tools. A number of golf bags and accessories exist for holding such items.
Summary
Oftentimes, players keep their golf accessories in their golf bag, where they are not easily accessible, particularly if a player is not near his bag. Players may also keep their golf accessories in the golf cart. This can be inconvenient, particularly when the player is on the green or in a sand trap where golf bags and carts are not allowed. If a player chooses to store their golf accessories in their pockets, those accessories may be mixed together with other items in the pocket so they are difficult to access and/or are unorganized. Moreover, if a player forgets to remove the accessories from their pocket after a round of golf, the accessories can easily be lost or ruined for example in the washing machine. It would be convenient for a player to have one's golf accessories in one place, preferably on the player's person for easy access anywhere on the golf course.
A portable holder for golf accessories is described that can be worn on one's person. In particular, a holder is described that can store golf accessories such as golf balls, tees, ball markers, divot repair tools, pencils, score cards, club cleaners, score counters, and groove sharpeners, etc. in one spot. The holder is attachable to an article of clothing so that it is easily accessible to the golfer throughout the golf course. In one embodiment, the holder is attachable to one's hip by an attachment fastener to the player's waistband. The holder could also be attached to a belt or pocket. In one embodiment, the attachment fastener is a clip. However, the attachment fastener is not meant to be limited to a clip and can be for example, but also not limited to, a clasp, tie or loop. The holder is not limited to being attached to waistband. For example, the holder could be attached to a pocket of a pant, jacket, short, skirt or shirt, or to a belt or belt loop.
In one embodiment, the holder comprises a container with a pouch for holding golf balls, a front with a ball marker holder for storing a ball marker, a first side having a divot repair holder for storing a divot repair device, and a second side having a tee holder for storing tees. The back of the container has an attachment fastener in the form of a clip that attaches to the waist of a golfer's waistband or belt. The top of the container is capable of folding over the front of the container to secure the top to prevent balls from falling out of the pouch during the physical demands of golf, such as when the golfer is bending over.

Detailed Description
With reference to Figures 1-3, a portable golf accessories apparatus is illustrated. The portable golf accessories apparatus 10 is capable of storing golf accessories in a detachable and portable holder. In one embodiment, the portable golf accessory apparatus may be attached to the waistband of a golfer's pants, shorts, skirt or belt. However, the portable golf accessory apparatus may be attached to other clothing items, such as back pockets, jackets and shirts, or any other item of clothing that is accessible while playing golf. Any combination of golf accessories may be stored in the portable golf accessory apparatus. For example, the golf accessories may include a combination of golf balls, tees, ball markers, divot repair tools, pencils, score cards, club cleaners, score counters, and/or groove sharpeners, etc.
In one embodiment, the portable golf accessories apparatus 10 holds 2 golf balls, tees, a divot repair tool and a ball marker. Specifically, the portable golf accessory apparatus comprises a container 12 having at least one wall 14 and a pouch 16 configured to hold at least two golf balls 18, but may be sized to hold a number of golf balls. In one embodiment, the pouch is configured to hold only 2 golf balls. In one embodiment, the container 12 is rectangular in shape, but the container may be round or any shape capable of holding two golf balls. The container 12 may be made out of nylon, leather, or cotton, or any lightweight fabric or material. The fabric or material may be water resistant. In one embodiment, the container 12 has a front 20, a back 22, a first side 24 and a second side 26, and a top 28 and a bottom 30 which surround the pouch 16. The first and second sides 24 and 26 may or may not touch the bottom 30 of the container. In one embodiment, the first and second sides 24 and 26 do not touch the bottom 30 of the container 12 such that one can see inside of the pouch 16. The bottom and first and second sides 30, 24 and 26 may be made of the same or different material. In one embodiment the first and second sides 24 and 26 and bottom 30 are made of an elastic material or fabric. The front 20 and back 22 and top 28 may be made from the same material. In one embodiment, the front 20, back 22 and top 28 are made from nylon.
The front 20 and sides 24 and 26 of the container 12 are designed to hold golf accessories. In one embodiment, the front 20 of the container 12 contains a ball marker holder 32 for holding a ball marker 34. In the present embodiment, the ball marker holder 32 is shown as a pocket. The pocket may be made of an elastic material or any material capable of keeping the ball marker in place. However, the ball marker holder 32 is not limited to being a pocket and can be anything capable of holding a ball marker 34 in place, such as a snap, clip or a clasp. The front 20 of container 12 further comprises a first fastener 36 that is capable of fastening the front 20 of the container 12 to the top 28 so that the container can be securely closed. In one embodiment the first fastener 36 may be made of hook and loop material. Any other golf accessory may be stored on the front 20 of the container 12 as long as the accessory is capable of fitting on the front 20 when flap 38 (discussed below) of the top 28 is fastened to first fastener 36 (i.e. when the container 12 is closed). It will be appreciated that the ball marker holder, e.g. holder 32 is located proximate the closure, e.g. flap 38, of the device 10, so as to allow the device to close the pouch 16. The holder 32 can be sized relatively smaller than the other
holders/pockets of the device, depending on where the closure, e.g. flap 38 is placed. In one embodiment, the pouch 16 is sized and configured relatively larger than the tees holder 50 and the divot repair holder 42 which are in turn larger than the ball marker holder 32. In one embodiment, the top 28 of container 12 contains a flap 38 which is capable of folding over at least part of the front 20 of container 12. The flap 38 is connected to the back 22 or may be an extension of the back 22. A second fastener 40 is located on the underside of the flap 38 of the container 12 so that when the flap 38 is pulled over the front 20, the second fastener 40 fastens to the first fastener 36. In the present embodiment, both the first and second fasteners 36 and 40 are made of hook and loop material. However, the first and second fasteners 34 and 40 could be buttons, snaps, magnets or clasps, or any other type of capable fastener that is easy to open and close.
Figure 2 is a side view of the portable golf accessory apparatus 10 showing the first side 24. The first side 24 contains a divot repair holder 42 for holding a divot repair device 44. In the present embodiment, the divot repair holder 42 is shown as a pocket made from an elastic material that is designed to securely fit around the divot repair device 44 so that the device 44 stays in place on the container 12 while being worn on a person during the physical activity of playing golf. Figure 2 also shows a side view of the portable golf accessory apparatus 10 when the top 28 is open.
Figure 3 is a side view of the portable golf accessory apparatus 10 showing the second side 26. In the present embodiment, the tees holder 50 is shown as a pocket made from an elastic material designed to securely fit around the tees 52 so that the tees 52 stay in place on the container 12 while the container 12 is worn on a person during the physical activity of playing golf. In one embodiment, the tees 52 are stored upright in the tees holder 50 for easy access. Figure 3 also shows a side view of when the top 28 is closed and the flap 38 is fastened to the front 20 of the container 12.
As shown in figures 2 and 3 secured to the back 22 of the container 12 is an attachment fastener 46 that is capable of attaching and detaching to the waistband of pants, shorts and skirts or to a belt so that the container 12 is easily attachable and detachable from clothing. In one embodiment, the attachment fastener 46 is a clip. However, the attachment fastener 46 can be any type of detachable device capable of securing the container 12 to an article of clothing and keeping it in place during the physical activity of the game of golf. The attachment fastener 46 could be a clasp, pin, tie, etc.
The particular arrangement of the golf accessories is not limited to what has been disclosed above. The arrangement of the accessories on the device could be done in different ways. For example, accessories could be stored on either the front 20, the first or second sides 20 and 22, on the top 28, and/or in the pouch 16 of the container 12 itself. An accessory may even be placed on the flap 38.
With regard to the foregoing description, it is to be understood that changes may be made in detail, without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is intended that the specification and depicted embodiments are to be considered exemplary only, with a true scope and spirit of the invention being indicated by the broad meaning of the claim.
