Abstract

Improvements made to patent N° P200601904 relating to a doll having a flexible, positionable internal structure, comprising a plastic-covered copper cable (5) forming the skeleton of the doll, formed by a wire, the ends (5 a and 5 b) of which are disposed in the doll's head (2). The wire is coiled around itself such as to extend from the head to all of the parts of the doll, including the arms (6) and the legs (7), and back into the head (2), thereby forming to-and-fro (continuous) dual (twisted) segments with rounded ends (5 c) located inside the hands (3) and feet (4). The wire is in turn provided with a cover (9) in the form of a cable sheath made from latex or silicon that is applied thereto by means of immersion or injection.

Description

    FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention relates to a doll having a flexible, positionable structure, with a number of advantages and characteristics, which will be described in detail further on, and which represent an innovative alternative and/or improvement on this field.
  • The object of the present invention consists of a doll, whose physical appearance can be either human or animal. The doll's body is made of a soft material, such as cotton, foam rubber, etc., as rug and plush dolls, and its head, hands, and feet are made of a harder material (plastic, rubber, etc.), forming an internal structure or skeleton that permits a total articulation and mobility of the head, trunk, and extremities to adopt any position with no risk of breaking such structure or doll, composed of a plastic-covered copper cable formed by a wire. The improvements of the present invention are related to the form and structure covering such cable which makes impossible to note the cable's existence when manipulating the doll to articulate it.
  • BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • The applicant is aware of the existence of several documents presenting dolls with characteristics similar to the ones of the present invention, such as U.S. Pat. No. 4,136,484, and GB 656087, on which the skeleton or internal structure which make articulation possible, usually made of wire, is covered of plastic to avoid its breaking.
  • However, such plastic cover does not hide the existence of the wire as a hard body when pressing the soft part of the doll, the objective of the present addition certificate being to improve this circumstance, making that the internal cable is not rigid and seem non-existent to obtain a doll with a more real touch. It must be stated that the applicant ignores the existence of any other invention with the same technical, structural, and configuration characteristics.
  • SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The inventive doll, having a flexible, positionable internal structure, whose physical appearance can be, as we have mentioned before, either human or animal, is comprised by a body made of a soft material, as rug or plush dolls (cotton, foam rubber, etc.), head, hands, feet (or any other appendixes, such as ears, tail, etc.) made of a harder material (plastic, rubber, etc.), and an skeleton inside, formed by a plastic-covered copper cable (similar to electrical ones), coiled around itself (multiple wires twisted or braided), as a result of which the doll is able to move, bend, and keep any of its extremities, arms and legs, hands and feet, head, and trunk or tail bent, and to adopt any position. Besides, this cable is formed by a wire, the ends of which are disposed in the doll's head, which is coiled around itself so as to extend from the head to all of the parts of the doll, including the arms and the legs, and back into the head, thereby forming to-and-fro (continuous) dual segments with no sharp-pointed ends.
  • The copper cable, which is part of the internal skeleton of the doll and make articulation possible, is provided with a cover in the form of a cable sheath made of latex or silicon that is applied thereto by means of immersion or injection.
  • This method results in an advantage, because the contact with the cable through the foam rubber or cotton filling is almost imperceptible when manipulating the doll to articulate its different parts, thus rigidity disappears, but not flexibility.
  • Finally, it is important to remark that the invention plans to use a special adhesive in the extremities to prevent their detachment from the soft body of the doll.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The invention is illustrated in the enclosed figures, which intend to complete the present description and help to achieve a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention:
  • FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of an implementation example, in this case of a baby, of the new doll according to the invention, on which some zones partially sectioned have been represented, to give a better appreciation of the configuration, and disposition of the inventive internal structure.
  • FIG. 2 equally shows a perspective view of the same example, with the cable sheath made from latex or silicon added to the internal structure.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION, INCLUDING THE PRESENT BEST MODE OF CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
  • In view of the reference numbers given to the figures, it can be observed that the doll consists of a body (1) made of a soft material (cotton, foam rubber, etc.), to which the head (2), hands (3), and feet (4), made of a harder material (plastic, rubber, etc.) are joined, a support or skeleton inside formed by a plastic-covered copper cable (5) (similar to the electrical ones), of a suitable diameter and unbreakable, as a result of which the doll is able to move, bend, and keep any of its extremities, arms (6) and legs (7), hands (3) and feet (4), head (2) and trunk (1) bent, and to adopt any position.
  • The armature cable (5) is formed by a wire, the ends (5 a) and (5 b) of which are disposed in the doll's head (2). The wire is coiled around itself such as to extend from the head to all of the parts of the doll, including the arms (6) and the legs (7), and back into the head (2), thereby forming to-and-fro (continuous) dual segments with rounded ends (5 c) located inside the hands (3) and feet (4).
  • (That is, stated another way: a plastic-sheathed copper wire is formed into a loop with the opposed ends aligned; the now double wire is twisted around itself in forming the bendable armature segments for the extremities: head, arms and legs; at the chest area no twists are done so that a twisted branch extends into each arm, and separate twist branches extend down the torso into the legs; the free-end twist segment extends up the neck into the head.)
  • The wire is in turn provided with a cover (9) in the form of a cable sheath made of latex or silicon that is applied thereto by means of immersion or injection, making the cable almost inexistent, without any loss of its flexibility.
  • Finally, the invention plans to use a suitable adhesive in the extremities' joints (8), between hands (3) and arms (6), and between feet (4) and legs (7) to prevent their detachment from the soft body of the doll.
  • INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY
  • In view that the nature and the ways to put the present invention into practice have been described, it is not considered necessary to go into the subject in greater depth since any expert on the field can have enough information to be aware of its reach, and the advantages derived from it, as well as to proceed to its reproduction, taking into account that it will be possible to put it into practice in other ways that differ in detail to the one given as an example, and to which the protection will reach, provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.

Claims (3)

1. Doll having a flexible, positionable structure, with either a human or animal physical appearance, comprised of:
a) a body (1) made of a soft material (plush, cotton, foam rubber, etc.), to which the head (2), hands (3), feet (4) or any other appendages made of a harder material (plastic, rubber, etc.) are joined;
b) an internal armature structure or skeleton (5) disposed in said body formed by a plastic-covered copper cable, of a suitable diameter and unbreakable, so that said body of said doll can totally move, bend, and keep any of its extremities, trunk and head bent; and
c) said internal armature cable (5) being formed by a continuous twisted wire, the twisted ends (5 a) and (5 b) of which are disposed in the doll's head (2), the wire being twisted or coiled around itself such as to extend from the head to all of the parts of the doll, including the arms (6) and the legs (7), and back into the head (2), thereby forming continuous twisted, dual wire segments with rounded ends (5 c) located inside the hands (3) and feet (4).
2. Doll having a flexible, positionable structure according to claim 1 wherein an adhesive is applied in the extremities' joints (8), between hands (3) and arms (6), and between feet (4) and legs (7) to prevent their detachment from the soft body of the doll.
3. Doll having a flexible, positionable structure according to claim 2 wherein said plastic-covered armature cable (5), is in turn provided with a cover (9) in the form of a cable sheath made of latex or silicon that is applied thereto by means of immersion or injection.
