Abstract
A cigarette or cigar cover comprises attaching means for attaching to the cigarette/cigar, and covering means of a diameter so devised as to keep a distance between cigarette and cover. The covering means has a length so devised as to fully cover the cigarette to protect it from rain. In the cigarette cover, the attaching means is a generally cylindrical part of an inner diameter so devised as to hold the cigarette therein. The cover may also be useful to protect from humidity, dust and other interference.
Description
- The invention relates to a cigarette shield or cover device, and more specifically to such a device for protecting a cigarette or cigar from rain.
- At present, it is difficult or impossible to smoke in the rain, because the rain drops may wet the cigarette and extinguish the fire therein.
- The problem exists in cigarettes, cigars, etc.
- Other factors which may interfere with a cigar or cigarette smoking may include humidity in the air, water, fog, dust, etc.
- A large device may be difficult or inconvenient to carry on one's person.
- According to the present invention, a new cigarette shield or cover protects the cigarette from rain, thus allowing to smoke in the rain.
- Accordingly, the cover attaches to the cigarette during smoking, so it is easy and convenient for the user to hold both cigarette and cover with two fingers, just like holding a cigarette.
- Such a cover may be used to protect the cigar or cigarette from humidity in the air, water, fog, dust, etc., which may interfere with smoking and/or damage the quality of the cigarette/cigar.
- According to another aspect of the invention, the cigarette cover may be telescopic, comprising several parts, so it has a small size when not in use, but can be extended to the required length to effectively cover the cigarette while smoking. The telescopic structure is not mandatory, rather it is one possible embodiment of the invention; in another embodiment, the cover is not telescopic, see for example
FIG. 1 . -
FIG. 1 illustrates a cigarette with a cigarette cover -
FIG. 2 details a telescopic cigarette cover in its closed state -
FIG. 3 details a telescopic cigarette cover in its open state -
FIG. 1 illustrates acigarette 1 with acigarette cover 2. Thecigarette cover 2 has attaching means 21 for attaching to the cigarette. Themeans 21 is a narrower, generally cylindrical part of an inner diameter so devised as to hold thecigarette 1 therein. Thecover 2 further includescovering means 22, which has a larger inner diameter so as not to contact thecigarette 1; rather, there is a distance, possibly about 1 to 2 millimeters (mm) between them. This separation allows thecover 2 to remain relatively cool, while the cigarette end may be very hot; moreover, thecool cover 2 will not interfere with the burning of thecigarette 1. - The
cover 2 will stop rain drops from reaching thecigarette 1. Thecigarette 1 will remain dry and can burn freely when used in the rain. Thecover 2 may also help in a dense fog, possibly creating a more dry air atmosphere in the vicinity of thecigarette 1. - In a preferred embodiment, the
length 31 of the attaching means may be about 1 centimeter (cm), thelength 32 of the covering means may be such as to keep the tip of thecigarette 1 protected, for example extending about 2 to 5 mm beyond the tip of a new cigarette. - The
outer diameter 33 of the covering means may be such as to keep a distance of about 1 to 2 mm between cigarette and cover. - In the embodiment as illustrated, the
cover 2 is made of one piece. -
FIG. 2 details atelescopic cigarette cover 2 in its closed state, with thecigarette 1 inserted into thecigarette cover 2, and held there by theattaching means 21. - Also is illustrated the external part of the cover, the telescopic covering means 24.
-
FIG. 3 details atelescopic cigarette cover 2 in its open state, with thecigarette 1 held in thecigarette cover 2 by theattaching means 21. - Also illustrated are the
parts cover 2 is extended, theparts cigarette 1, and will extend the cover for some distance beyond the cigarette tip. - The
cigarette cover 2 may be made of various materials, such as gold, silver, plastic, paper, wood, other metals, etc. - The cover is so devised as to allow easy, simple insertion of the cigarette or cigar therein, as well as to remove the remains of the used cigarette/cigar after use.
- It will be recognized that the foregoing is but one example of an apparatus and method within the scope of the present invention and that various modifications will occur to those skilled in the art upon reading the disclosure set forth hereinbefore.
Claims (5)

2. The cigarette cover according to claim 1 , wherein the attaching means is a generally cylindrical part of an inner diameter so devised as to hold the cigarette therein.
3. The cigarette cover according to claim 1 , wherein the covering means has an inner diameter large enough so as not to contact the cigarette.
4. A telescopic cigarette cover comprising attaching means for attaching to the cigarette, and covering means of a diameter so devised as to keep a distance between cigarette and cover, and wherein the covering means comprises two or more parts which may extend to cover the cigarette or retract into each other to form a compact package.
