Abstract
A keepsake cake kit includes at least one of a cake mix for making a cake having a first predetermined size and a first predetermined shape, and a pre-made cake having a second predetermined size and a second predetermined shape. A base is provided for supporting at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake. A covering member is releasably securable to such base for covering such base and such at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake supported on such base. Edible decorations are included for decorating at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake. At least one keepsake decoration which is disposable on such at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake is also included in the kit.
Description
- This patent application is related to and claims priority from U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 61/020,288 filed Jan. 10, 2008.
- The present invention relates, in general, to cake kits and, more particularly, this invention relates to a cake kit which includes at least one keepsake item.
- Prior to the conception and development of the present invention, cakes, as are generally well known in the prior art, have been used to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays, holidays, baby showers, weddings, bridal showers, anniversaries, graduations, engagements, and the like. Although cake may be enjoyed during these important times, cake is perishable and therefore there is nothing left after such cake has been consumed to aid in remembrance of the special occasion for which such cake was bought or made. Moreover, because many important cakes are bought from a bakery or store in pre-decorated condition the special significance of such cakes is limited and memories and bonding which could have been had if only the cake been baked and decorated or at least decorated by loving hands is lost forever.
- The present invention provides a keepsake cake kit including at least one of a cake mix for making a cake having a first predetermined size and a first predetermined shape, and a pre-made cake having a second predetermined size and a second predetermined shape. A base, manufactured from a first predetermined material and having a third predetermined size and a third predetermined shape, is provided for supporting at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake. A covering member, manufactured from a second predetermined material and having a fourth predetermined size and a fourth predetermined shape, is releasably securable to such base for covering such base and such at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake supported on such base. Edible decorating means is included in such cake kit for decorating at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake. At least one keepsake decoration which is disposable on such at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made cake is also included in the kit.
- It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a cake kit which includes a pre-made cake, a cake plate, a cover for such cake plate sufficient to cover such pre-made cake disposed on such cake plate, decorating ingredients such as icing, sprinkles, a cake topper, candles, and a combination thereof.
- Another object of the present invention is to provide a cake kit for decorating a cake for a predetermined special occasion such as a birthday, a holiday, a wedding, an anniversary, an engagement, a graduation, a baby shower, a bridal shower, and the like.
- Still another object of the present invention is to provide a cake kit which includes a cake mix or a cake, a cake supporting member, a cover member for covering a cake disposed on such cake supporting member, a cake topper, and predetermined decorations for a cake.
- Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a cake kit specifically geared toward decorating a cake for a specific occasion, for example, such cake kit including at least one of a pre-made cake in the form of a stable, a cake supporting platform, an icing spreader, icing in preferably a plurality of at least one of colors, flavors, and a combination thereof, sprinkles, at least one candle, at least one of a keepsake cake topper in the form of Baby Jesus in a manger, a keepsake ornament in the form of a stable of sufficient size to house such cake topper therein and a combination thereof, a lid member releasably securable to such cake supporting member such lid member being formed such that such lid member covers such cake supported on such cake supporting member and such cake supporting member, a marker for writing on at least one of such cake supporting member, such lid member, and a combination thereof.
- An additional object of the present invention is to provide a cake kit including at least one keepsake item for retaining by a user, such at least one keepsake item may include at least one Christmas ornament, knick knack, cake topper, and other trinket type items which may become of sentimental value to a user.
- It is meant that such cake kit enable a user to at least one of prepare a cake, decorate a cake, and a combination thereof either alone or with at least one other person in an enjoyable manner thereby creating memories and generating pleasant feelings, such cake kit including a keepsake item which may be retained and cherished by a user and which will at a future time encourage such user to remember the experience of preparing and/or decorating such cake and the occasions for which such cake was prepared and/or decorated.
- In addition to the various objects and advantages of the present invention described with some degree of specificity above it should be obvious that additional objects and advantages of the present invention will become more readily apparent to those persons who are skilled in the relevant art from the following more detailed description of the invention, particularly, when such description is taken in conjunction with the attached drawing figures and with the appended claims.

FIG. 5 is a partial perspective view of the invention according to one embodiment of the invention in which at least one hinge member connects such covering member to such base member and a latch member includes a first portion and a second portion for latching such covering member to such base member. - Prior to proceeding to the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity and understanding, identical components which have identical functions have been identified with identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawing figures.
- Reference is now made, more particularly, to
FIGS. 1-5 . - The present invention provides a keepsake cake kit, generally designated 10. Such
keepsake cake kit 10 includes at least one of a cake mix (not shown) for making a cake having a first predetermined size and a first predetermined shape, and apre-made cake 12 having a second predetermined size and a second predetermined shape. It is presently preferred that such first predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, and a combination thereof. It is presently preferred that such first predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof. It is presently preferred that such second predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof. - A
base 14, manufactured from a first predetermined material and having a third predetermined size and a third predetermined shape, is provided for supporting at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-madecake 12. It is presently preferred that such third predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof. - A covering
member 16, manufactured from a second predetermined material and having a fourth predetermined size and a fourth predetermined shape, is releasably securable tosuch base 14 for coveringsuch base 14 and such at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-madecake 12 supported onsuch base 14. It is presently preferred that such fourth predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof. It is further presently preferred that such third predetermined shape and such fourth predetermined shape are substantially identical. It is presently preferred that such coveringmember 16 includes ahandle member 18 disposed thereon. - Edible decorating means 22 is included for decorating at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-made
cake 12. It is presently preferred that such edible decorating means 22 includes a predetermined amount oficing 24, such predetermined amount oficing 24 including at least one of at least one flavor, at least one color and a combination thereof. - At least one
keepsake decoration 26 which is disposable on such at least one of such cake made from such cake mix and such pre-madecake 12 is also included in thekit 10. It is presently preferred that such at least onekeepsake decoration 26 is at least onecake topper 28 formed as at least one of a predetermined object, a predetermined person, a predetermined animal, a predetermined character, and a combination thereof. - It is presently preferred that
such cake kit 10 further includes at least one of amarker 29, a predetermined number ofcandles 32,edible cake confetti 34,sprinkles 36, anicing spreader 38, at least onedecorating bag 42, at least one decoratingtip 44,crystal sprinkles 46, and a combination thereof. It is further presently preferred thatsuch cake kit 10 further includes at least one of at least onedisposable decorating bag 48, at least onedisposable decorating tip 52, and a combination thereof. - According to one embodiment such at least one
keepsake decoration 26 is formed as a predetermined portion of a predetermined Nativity scene. Such at least onekeepsake decoration 26 be formed as a Baby Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Joseph husband of the Virgin Mary, a shepherd, an angel, a Wise Man, an innkeeper, a Little Drummer Boy, a predetermined animal, a palm tree, and the like. However, the invention is not meant to be limited as such and such at least onekeepsake decoration 26 may be formed as other objects, characters, persons, etc. For example, such at least onekeepsake decoration 26 may be a Christmas tree, Santa Claus, a snowman, Jack Frost, a candy cane, a train, a sled, a plant (such as a poinsettia), a Christmas present, and any other Christmas decoration. However, such at least onekeepsake decoration 26 is not meant to be limited to Christmas type items. Such at least onekeepsake decoration 26 may therefore be formed as any other celebratory item for example, a birthday cake, a Menorah, a candy dish, a baby carriage, an umbrella, a wedding cake, a birthday cake, a candle, a bible, the Easter Bunny, a pumpkin, a predetermined character, a firecracker, a flag, a heart, a Pilgrim, an Indian, a cross and the like. Such at least onekeepsake decoration 26 may also be formed as a combination of objects, characters, persons, etc., for example a penguin and a polar bear on a sled or something similar. - According to a presently preferred embodiment such covering
member 16 is releasably securable tosuch base 14 via a tongue in groove securing means 62 having afirst portion 64 disposed on such coveringmember 16 and asecond portion 66 disposed onsuch base 14, suchfirst portion 64 and suchsecond portion 66 being releasably engageable with each other. The tongue and groove securing means 62 is one way of securing and is not meant to be limiting.Such base 14 and such coveringmember 16 may be secured together by an securing means which reasonably facilitates such purpose. - According to another embodiment such covering
member 16 is releasably connectable tosuch base 14 via a clamp type securing means (not shown) operably connected to such at least one ofsuch base 14, such coveringmember 16, and a combination thereof. - According to still another embodiment such covering
member 16 is releasably securable tosuch base 14 via a magnet type securing means (not shown) having a first portion disposed on such coveringmember 16 and a second portion disposed onsuch base 14 such first portion and such second portion being releasably magnetically engageable with each other. - According to yet another embodiment, referring to
FIG. 5 , such coveringmember 16 is secured tosuch base 14 via at least onehinge 72 operably connected tosuch base 14 and such coveringmember 16 for hingedly joiningsuch cover member 16 tosuch base 14 and wherein alatch member 76 releasably securessuch cover member 16 tosuch base 14, suchlatch member 76 having afirst portion 78 disposed on such coveringmember 16 and asecond portion 82 disposed onsuch base 14, such first portion and such second portion being releasably engageable with each other. - According to one embodiment (not shown) wherein such keepsake cake kit includes such cake mix, such keepsake cake kit also includes a baking pan for use in baking a cake mixed from such cake mix.
- While a presently preferred and various alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in sufficient detail above to enable a person skilled in the relevant art to make and use the same it should be obvious that various other adaptations and modifications can be envisioned by those persons skilled in such art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.
Claims (18)
1. A keepsake cake kit comprising:
a. at least one of a cake mix for making a cake having a first predetermined size and a first predetermined shape, and a pre-made cake having a second predetermined size and a second predetermined shape;
b. a base, manufactured from a first predetermined material and having a third predetermined size and a third predetermined shape, for supporting at least one of said cake made from said cake mix and said pre-made cake;
c. a covering member, manufactured from a second predetermined material and having a fourth predetermined size and a fourth predetermined shape, releasably securable to said base for covering said base and said at least one of said cake made from said cake mix and said pre-made cake supported on said base;
d. edible decorating means for decorating said at least one of said cake made from said cake mix and said pre-made cake; and
e. at least one keepsake decoration disposable on said at least one of said cake made from said cake mix and said pre-made cake.
2. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said edible decorating means is a predetermined amount of icing, said predetermined amount of icing including at least one of at least one flavor, at least one color and a combination thereof.
3. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said at least one keepsake decoration is at least one cake topper formed as at least one of a predetermined object, a predetermined person, a predetermined animal, a predetermined character, and a combination thereof.
4. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said cake kit further includes at least one of a marker, a predetermined number of candles, edible cake confetti, sprinkles, an icing spreader, at least one decorating bag, at least one decorating tip, crystal sprinkles, and a combination thereof.
5. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said cake kit further includes at least one of at least one disposable decorating bag, at least one disposable decorating tip, and a combination thereof.
6. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said at least one keepsake decoration is formed as a predetermined portion of a predetermined Nativity scene.
7. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 6 wherein said at least one keepsake decoration is formed as at least one of a Baby Jesus, the Virgin Mary, Joseph husband of the Virgin Mary, a shepherd, an angel, a Wise Man, an innkeeper, a Little Drummer Boy, a predetermined animal, a palm tree, a Christmas tree, Santa Claus, a snowman, Jack Frost, a candy cane, a train, a sled, a plant, a Christmas present, a birthday cake, a Menorah, a predetermined Christmas tree ornament, a candy dish, a baby carriage, an umbrella, a wedding cake, a birthday cake, a candle, a bible, the Easter Bunny, a pumpkin, a predetermined character, a firecracker, a flag, a heart, a Pilgrim, an Indian, a cross and a combination thereof.
8. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said first predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof.
9. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said second predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof.
10. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said third predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof.
11. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said fourth predetermined shape is at least one of round, rectangular, square, oval, Christmas tree shaped, angel shaped, Santa Claus shaped, stable shaped, menorah shaped, candy cane shaped, cross shaped, umbrella shaped, pumpkin shaped, cat shaped, bunny shaped, train shaped, and a combination thereof.
12. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said third predetermined shape and said fourth predetermined shape are substantially identical.
13. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said covering member includes a handle member disposed thereon.
14. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said covering member is releasably securable to said base via a tongue in groove securing means having a first portion disposed on said covering member and a second portion disposed on said base such first portion and such second portion being releasably engageable with each other.
15. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said covering member is releasably connectable to said base via a clamp type securing means operably connected to at least one of said covering member, said base member, and a combination thereof.
16. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said covering member is releasably securable to said base via a magnet type securing means having a first portion disposed on said covering member and a second portion disposed on said base such first portion and such second portion being releasably magnetically engageable with each other.
17. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said covering member is secured to said base member via at least one hinge operably connected to said base and said covering member and wherein a latch member releasably secures said covering member to said base member opposite said at least one hinge, said latch member having a first portion disposed on said covering member and a second portion disposed on said base such first portion and such second portion being releasably engageable with each other.
18. A keepsake cake kit according to claim 1 wherein said keepsake cake kit further includes said cake mix and wherein said keepsake cake kit further includes a baking pan for baking said cake having said first predetermined shape and said first predetermined size therein.
