Description
- This application is a Continuation-In-Part of my patent application Ser. No. 11/746,068, filed on May 9, 2007.
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to badges and more particularly, to a souvenir badge, which comprises a badge body made of a magnetically attractive material with a particular shape to show a design, and a positioning block made of a magnet for attracting the badge body to secure the badge body to an object.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- A badge is a device presented or displayed to indicate some feat of service, a special accomplishment, a symbol of authority, a sign of legitmate employment or student status, or to tell other something interesting about you. They are also used in advertising and publicity. Like coins and stamps, badges have become highly collectible: Monument badge is one of the popular badges functions. When a new monument is established, the landscape owner or management authority may issue a badge for memory. For example, when Hong Kong Disneyland is opened, it becomes a hot landsacpe in Asia. While visiting this landscape, visitors usually will buy a souvenir badge from the shops in Disneyland.
- Further, when a local, national, or international festival, cultral activity or sports activity is held, the organization in charge may also issue souvenir badges for collection. Since Athens Olympic, it has become a convention of the Olympic games to issue souvenir badges. Generally an Olympic souvenir badge is a circular copper plate carrying the Olympic logo, the symbol of the holding city, and other marks concerned.
- Further, modern people have critical requirements for badges. In addition to practical use, beauty, innovation and unique feature are the main factors to attract people to buy a badge. To compete in market, it is necessary to provide a creative design. Further, many souvenir badges are commercially available. A conventional souvenir badge is known comprising a badge body and a positioning block. The badge body has a downwardly extending stem that has a pointed tip. The positioning block has a center hole and a plurality of springy clamping portions. During installation, press the springy clamping portions and insert the stem of the badge body into the center hole of the positioning block, and then release the hand from springy clamping portions after insertion of the stem of the badge body into the center hole of the positioning block to have the springy clamping portions secure the stem to the positioning block. This design of souvenir badge is still not satisfactory in function. Because the stem has a smooth surface, the positioning block may be unable to secure the badge body in place when the clamping force of the springy clamping portions begins to deteriorate. Further, a souvenir badge generally has a small size, it is not easy to accurately insert the stem of the badge body into the center hole of the positioning block at the first attempt. When inserting the stem of the badge body into the center hole of the locating bloc, the pointed tip of the stem of the badge body may injure the user's hand accidentally. When pressing the springy clamping portions and detaching the badge body from the positioning block, the pointed tip of the stem of the badge body may also injure the user's hand accidentally.
- Therefore, it is desirable to provide a souvenir badge, which eliminates the aforesaid drawbacks.
- The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is therefore the main object of the present invention to provide a souvenir badge, which has high pull-out force, assuring quick and positive positioning. It is another object of the present invention to provide a souvenir badge, which is inexpensive to manufacture and safety to use.
- To achieve these and other objects of the present invention, a souvenir badge comprises a badge body and a positioning block. The badge body is made of a magnetically attractive material, having a head and a stem perpendicularly extending from the bottom side of the head for fastening the badge body to a nonmetal sheet member. The head can be made in any of a variety of shapes to show a symbol or design. The positioning block is made of a magnet, having a positioning hole for receiving the stem of the badge body. By means of inserting the stem of the badge body through a nonmetal sheet member and capping the positioning block with its positioning hole onto the stem, the badge body and the positioning block are secured to the nonmetal sheet member by a magnetic attractive force between the badge body and the positioning block. Because the badge body and the positioning block are simple in structure, they are easy and inexpensive to manufacture.
- Further, the stem of the badge body can be made having a pointed tip. By means of the pointed tip, the stem can easily be inserted through a nonmetal sheet member. Further, by means of magnetic attraction between the badge body and the positioning block, the pointed tip of the stem can be inserted into the positioning hole of the positioning block quickly and accurately with low insertion force, avoiding accidental injury.
