Abstract

A connection member for connecting boards includes a tubular body having two flanges extending radially outward from an outer surface thereof and the two flanges are located at a distance from two ends of the tubular body. The two ends of the connection member are inserted into holes defined in the boards so as to connect the boards in the longitudinal direction. The connection member may include two parallel tubular bodies so as to connect the boards in the transversal direction.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates generally to a connection member, and in particular to a connection member for connecting boards to be a display rack.
  • 2. The Prior Arts
  • A conventional display rack is generally made by wood, metal or plastic. The wood requires a lot of trees, which is considered as not friendly to environmental protection, and the metal is too heavy. Plastic is an ideal material for making the display racks but it is not convenient to be assembled and cannot bear heavy loads.
  • The present invention provides connection members for connecting boards, and the connection members are easily fabricated and assembled with boards. The display rack equipped with the connection members can bear heavy loads and the boards can be connected in the transversal and longitudinal directions.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • According to the present invention, a connection member for connecting boards is provided and includes a tubular body having two flanges extending radially outward from an outer surface thereof. The two flanges are located at a distance from two ends of the tubular body and the two ends of the connection member are inserted into holes defined in the boards so as to connect the boards in the longitudinal direction. The connection member may include two parallel tubular bodies so as to connect the boards in the transversal direction.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art by reading the following detailed description of a preferred embodiment thereof, with reference to the attached drawings, in which:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view showing a connection member in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view showing a connection member in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention;
  • FIG. 3 is an exploded view to show boards and the connection members as shown in FIG. 1 in accordance with the present invention; and
  • FIG. 4 shows that the connection members as shown in FIG. 1 and FIG. 2 connect the boards in the longitudinal and transversal directions.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • With reference to the drawings and in particular to FIG. 1, a connection member for connecting boards in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention comprises a hollow and tubular body 1 which includes two flanges 11, 12 extending radially outward from an outer surface thereof. The two flanges 11, 12 are located at a distance from two ends of the tubular body 1. An outer diameter of each flange is larger than an outer diameter of the tubular body 1.
  • Referring to FIG. 3, the boards 3 each include long grooves defined in a top and bottom surface thereof to form reinforcement ribs, so as to reinforce the structural strength of the boards. A plurality of holes 31 are defined in corners of the boards 3. The two ends of the connection members 1 are inserted into the holes 31, and the flanges 11 are in contact with the top and bottom surface of the boards 3. The boards 3 are easily assembled in a longitudinal direction to form a display rack.
  • Referring to FIGS. 2 and 4, the connection member in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention comprises two tubular bodies 2 which are located in parallel to each other, and three bridge members 23 are connected between the two tubular bodies 2. Each tubular body 2 includes two flanges 21, 22 extending radially outward from an outer surface thereof. The two flanges 21, 22 are located at a distance from two ends of each of the tubular bodies 2 and an outer diameter of each of the two flanges 21, 22 is larger than an outer diameter of each of the tubular bodies 2.
  • One of the two tubular bodies 2 of the connection members according to the second embodiment of the present invention is used to connect a set of boards 3 in the longitudinal direction, and the other one of the two tubular bodies 2 of the connection members is used to connect another set of boards 3 in the longitudinal direction by inserting the two ends of the connection members respectively into the holes 31 of the boards 3.
  • Although the present invention has been described with reference to the preferred embodiment thereof, it is apparent to those skilled in the art that a variety of modifications and changes may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention which is intended to be defined by the appended claims.

Claims (2)

1. A connection member for connecting boards, comprising:
a tubular body having two flanges extending radially outward from an outer surface thereof, the two flanges located at a distance from two ends of the tubular body, and an outer diameter of each flange being larger than an outer diameter of the tubular body.
2. A connection member for connecting boards, comprising:
two tubular bodies located in parallel to each other, at least one bridge member connected between the two tubular bodies, each tubular body having two flanges extending radially outward from an outer surface thereof, the two flanges located at a distance from two ends of each of the tubular bodies, and an outer diameter of each flange being larger than an outer diameter of each of the tubular bodies.
