Abstract
A bench-top chip removing vacuum hood includes a hood main body provided at a bottom with a plurality of magnets, an iron base plate, a zigzag connector having a front end screwed to a rear edge of the iron base plate and a rear end connected to a clamping plate, and a C-clamp for firmly holding the clamping plate to an edge of a bench. When the bench has an iron top, the hood main body is directly positioned on the bench and magnetically attached thereto via the magnets. When the bench has a non-iron top, the zigzag connector is extended to locate the iron base plate near a workpiece and the hood main body is magnetically attached to the iron base plate. Thus, the chip removing vacuum hood is usable on both of an iron and a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a workpiece.
Description
- The present invention relates to a bench-top chip removing vacuum hood, and more particularly to a chip removing vacuum hood that could be used on either an iron bench top or a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a wood workpiece.
- There are various differently designed vacuum hoods available for use on a bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a wood workpiece.
FIGS. 1 and 2 are exploded and assembled perspective views, respectively, of a conventional bench-top chip removing vacuum hood. Generally, such a conventional bench-top chip removing vacuum hood includes a hoodmain body 1 having a plurality ofmagnets 2 mounted to a bottom thereof, so that the hoodmain body 1 is magnetically attached to an iron top of abench 3 for use. However, when thebench 3 has a non-iron top, the hood main body could not be securely attached to the non-iron bench top via themagnets 2 at all. This would apparently largely limit the applicability of the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood. - It is therefore a primary object of the present invention to provide a bench-top chip removing vacuum hood that could be used on either an iron bench top or a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a wood workpiece.
- To achieve the above and other objects, the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention includes a hood main body provided at a bottom with a plurality of magnets, an iron base plate, a zigzag connector having a front end screwed to a rear edge of the iron base plate and a rear end connected to a clamping plate, and a C-clamp for firmly holding the clamping plate to an edge of a bench. When the bench has an iron top, the hood main body is directly positioned on the bench and magnetically attached thereto via the magnets. When the bench has a non-iron top, the zigzag connector is extended to locate the iron base plate near a workpiece and the hood main body is magnetically attached to the iron base plate via the magnets. Thus, the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood is usable on both of an iron and a non-iron bench top to suck flying chips produced during machining a workpiece.
- The structure and the technical means adopted by the present invention to achieve the above and other objects can be best understood by referring to the following detailed description of the preferred embodiments and the accompanying drawings, wherein
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a conventional bench-top chip removing vacuum hood; -
FIG. 2 is an assembled view ofFIG. 1 ; -
FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of a bench-top chip removing vacuum hood according to the present invention; -
FIG. 4 is an assembled view ofFIG. 3 ; -
FIG. 5 shows the manner of fixing an iron base plate of the chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention to a bench top; -
FIG. 6 shows the manner of moving the iron base plate ofFIG. 5 to a different position on the bench top; -
FIG. 7 shows the chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention is magnetically attached to the iron base plate for use on a non-iron bench top; and -
FIG. 8 shows the chip removing vacuum hood ofFIG. 7 is connected to a chip collector via a hose. - Please refer to
FIGS. 3 and 4 that are exploded and assembled perspective views, respectively, of a bench-top chip removing vacuum hood according to the present invention. As shown, the present invention includes a hoodmain body 1, aniron base plate 4, azigzag connector 5, and a C-clamp 7 (seeFIGS. 5 and 6 ). A plurality ofmagnets 2 are mounted to a bottom of the hoodmain body 1 for magnetically attaching the hoodmain body 1 to theiron base plate 4. Thezigzag connector 5 has a front end screwed to a rear edge of theiron base plate 4, and a rear end connected to aclamping plate 6. Theclamping plate 6 may be tightly attached to an edge of a bench 3 (seeFIG. 5 ) using the C-clamp 7. - When the chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention is used on a
bench 3 having an iron top, the hoodmain body 1 is removed from theiron base plate 4 and directly positioned on thebench 3 for use. At this point, the hoodmain body 1 is magnetically attached to the iron top of thebench 3 via the plurality ofmagnets 2. On the other hand, when the chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention is used on abench 3 having a non-iron top, the hoodmain body 1 is magnetically attached to a top of theiron base plate 4 for use. - Please refer to
FIG. 5 . To use the bench-top chip removing vacuum hood of the present invention on abench 3 having a non-iron top, first use the C-clamp 7 to tightly hold theclamping plate 6 to an edge of thebench 3. Then, extend thezigzag connector 5, so that theclamping plate 6 is located near a workpiece (not shown) to be machined, as shown inFIG. 6 . Thereafter, magnetically connect the hoodmain body 1 to theiron base plate 4, as shown inFIG. 7 . Then, the hoodmain body 1 may be connected to a chip collector via a host (not numbered), as shown inFIG. 8 .
