Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a wire retainer made to be used with portable electronic devices such that said size of the invention and coiled wire is compact in relation to the device.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • A wire organizer for use with mobile electronics device which require the use of wired speakers or microphones. Said wire organizer may be attached directly onto the device. Alternatively said organizer may be attached to the holder of said device. Said organizer will allow the user to instantly deploy the entire length of the wire attached to speakers or microphones. Alternatively, once use of the device is finished the user may quickly rearrange the wire in a compact fashion in relation to the device. The preferred embodiment includes a middle portion which maybe removably attached to the surface of said device or holder, where one of the cooperating arms has male velcro backing and the other velcro arm has female velcro backing mounted so that the two cooperate to allow the velcro to interact when one arm overlaps the other.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Reference herein to “one embodiment” or “an embodiment” means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment can be included in at least one embodiment of the invention. The appearances of the phrase “in one embodiment” in various places in the specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment, nor are separate or alternative embodiments mutually exclusive of other embodiments.
  • Wire organizers of various sorts are widely used in many different industries. Keeping these wires organized and easily accessible in a compact size in relation to a compact portable electronic device is a recognized problem, which, prior to the present invention, did not have a good solution.
  • The preferred embodiment of the present invention is secured by the main body anchoring onto a relatively flat surface. Methods commonly known to persons skilled in the art to anchor the present invention is utilized such as but not limited to: adhesives, removable clips, or stitching. The present invention may be purchased separately by the user and anchored onto surfaces in which the user predetermined. As an example the user can anchor the present invention directly onto the portable electronic device in an effort to reduce clutter. Alternatively, the user may anchor the device onto the exterior surface of a case or holder which contains the portable electronic device. Further, portable device cases or holders may have said present invention prefabricated onto said exterior surface. Even further, articles of clothing may have said present invention prefabricated and integrated with said clothing.
  • In the preferred embodiment, a user anchors the present invention onto the exterior surface of a portable electronic device by removing the adhesive backing paper exposing the adhesive. The user presses the main body of the present invention with said adhesive on the underside to the surface of the portable electronic device. The user coils the wire of the device accessory with at least one finger for the desired length of the coiled wire. The user places the coiled wire within the present device on the topside of said main body. The user then takes cooperating arms with a male velcro backing and the other velcro arm has female velcro backing mounted so that the two cooperate to allow the velcro to interact when one arm overlaps the other creating a sealing loop to secure the coiled wire in a compact fashion. When the user desires to use the wired accessory with the device, the user can either pull on one of the arms or pull on the coiled wire for a quick release. Once the coiled wire is released it is in a relatively untangled state for ease of use.
  • Construction
  • The present invention can be manufactured from a variety of materials including vinyl, nylon, polyester, polypropylene, laminated fabrics, cotton duck, leather (including synthetic or imitation leathers), canvas, plastic, or any fabric that can be sewn, bound, or formed in any way into a loop to retain electrical wires of portable electronic devices.
  • In the preferred embodiment, the mechanism for closure can be accomplished using one or more of Velcro material, latch and hook, snaps, zipper, buckle, buttons or combinations of the aforementioned or equivalents. Alternatively, the invention is made with a semi-flexible plastic which forms a open ended loop.
  • The present invention can be made in various sizes to accommodate the many different lengths of wire on the device accessory. An alternative embodiment for the present invention provides an adjustable-length arm by making a sleeve that slides over the upper portion and can be secured (e.g., via snaps or Velcro material) at one of a number of different positions from the top, corresponding to popular tie wrap sizes. Note that the tote may have its loading opening (and associated length adjustment mechanism) at either the bottom or top.
  • While the above invention has been described with reference to certain preferred embodiments, the scope of the present invention is not limited to these embodiments. One skilled in the art may find variations of these preferred embodiments which, nevertheless, fall within the spirit of the present invention, whose scope is defined by the claims set forth below.

Claims (16)

1. A compact wire organizer to be use in conjunction with portable electronic devices comprising:
a. A main body having a means for attachment to a relatively flat surface;
b. At least one flexible opposing arm extending from the main vertical body with a mechanism for securing an enclosed loop; and
c. A coiled wire of a device accessory to be placed within said main body and fastened with said closed loop.
2. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said device accessory is at least one headphone, headset, microphone, or earphones.
3. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said device may be a MP3 player, music player, phone, PDA, portable gaming system, laptop, cellular phone, radio, portable wireless communication device, portable video player or portable television.
4. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said flat surface is on the portable electronic device.
5. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said flat surface is on the portable electronic device case or holder.
6. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said flat surface is on an article of clothing of the user.
7. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said mechanism is Velcro.
8. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said mechanism is a clasp.
9. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said mechanism is at least one magnet.
10. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said mechanism is a snapping mechanism.
11. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said mechanism is a catch.
12. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said mechanism is a hook-and-loop.
13. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said arms are semi flexible which forms a loop with a partition in the center of the loop opposite of the main body.
14. A compact wire organizer as in claim 1 wherein, said arms are elastic.
15. A compact wire organizer to be use in conjunction with portable electronic devices comprising:
a. A main body having a means for attachment to a relatively flat surface;
b. At least one flexible opposing arm extending from the main vertical body with a mechanism for securing an enclosed loop;
c. A coiled wire of a device accessory to be placed within said main body and fastened with said closed loop; and
d. Said user being able to quickly deploy said coiled wire in a relatively untangled fashion by un-securing said loop.
16. A method of organizing wire from a device accessory used in conjunction with a portable electronic device comprising:
a. Looping said wire with at least one finger;
b. Placing said wire within the main body;
c. Fastening said wire within said main body by closing said arm creating a loop; and
d. Removing said coiled wire from said organizer by pulling said fastened wire.
