This invention relates to a container and a dispensing device for collapsible tubes of the charaster generally used foil" the dispensing of tooth paste, shaving cream and other like and similar 5 substances of a paste-like consistency that are to be exuded through the dispensing head of the container into which the collapsible tube is to be placed; 1

My present invention comprises a pair of hinged wall-forming members that are hingedly secured together at o'ne'oftheir ends. The oppositely disposed ends of the pair of sidewall members have latches disposedthereup'on for securing; the hinged members together. Half circular holes are disposed within the free ends of the hinged side wall members and through which the neck of the tube passes. An elongated slot is disposed in one side of one of the side wall members. A pressing head is provided for being secured to andniov'ed along the tube. The pressing head comprises a base and a yoke. The primary object-of this invention is to provide a simple and easily operated form of .container for tubes having a plastic compound disposed therein. The hinged containers have move able means disposed therein for applying a definite pressing action upon the walls of the con .tainer for exuding the contents therefrom. Through the use of the device as herein outlined, practically the entire contents of the tube may be dispensed therefrom in'an orderly and efficient manner. V w

And a stilliurther object of my invention consists in providing a tube holder that may be held in one hand and the contents of the tube or partial contents of the tube be exuded from the tube with one hand, leaving the other hand fre e tor holding the brush or other applicator to the contents of the tube are to be applied.
And a still further object of my invention 0on sists in'providing a pressure applicator that may be moved longitudinally of the tube from time to time to provide a pressure applicator for the dispensing of the contents of the tube in an orderly manner and withoutthe use of a reacting element for moving the pressure applicator along the tube.

I provide a pair of hinged half shell closures I and 2. These hinged closures are preferably made semi-circular or elliptical in transverse cross section. The two are hinged together at one end about a common hinge pin 3. A locking latch end of one of the hair t is secured to the free shell-forming members. The locking latch is made of spring material and a loop 5 passes through the head t of one of the half shell 2 embers and the loop is then flattened out as illustrated in Fig. 7 to lock one end of the latch relative to one of the half-shell members. A tall l is disposed upon the outside of the head 6 to act as a support for the latch. A loop. 3 is disposed adjacent the free end 9 of the locking latch and the same normally passes through a receiving hole iii disposed within the head. it of the oppositely disposed end of the other half-shell section and when so normally engaged secures the two shell members together.
Best results are to be obtained where two of these locking latches are used as illustrated at l2 and E3 in Fig. 2. The container should be made of a size to fit the collapsible tube it. These collapsible tubes holding different quantities of materials.
Generally speaking, the tooth paste tube is of one size and shaving cream or-cold cream tubes are of different sizesand' my holder should be made of a size tosubstantiallyencompass the filled tube of material to be placed therein.
Half cylindricalholes it and i8 are placed in the oppositely disposed faces of the heads 6 and II in order to provide a precise locator for the neck ii) of the tube it. The outer end of the neck i9 is threaded to provide suitable means for removably securing the exuding head Ell thereto. A valve 2! is disposed transversely of the exude ing head and a bail or otherv suitable turning member massacres to the valve 2 H. An exuding slot 23 is disposed as an outlet through the exuding head and the valve-2i has alike slot disposed therein that is adapted for being placed into andout of registry with the slot '23.
When thetwo'slots are in registry the slot 23 then communicates with the interior of the tube and permits material to be exuded therethrough when abnormal pressure is applied to the body of the collapsible tube. V
I provide a pressure assembly within the container. The pressure assembly is not secured directly or indirectly to either one of the halfshell members of the container and the same is adapted to be freely'moved in either direction therein.

A shaft 32 runs transversely of the yoke and is fixed into the sidewalls 33 ant 34 of the yoke.
A pressure cam 35 is hingedly secured to the shaft 32. A lever 35 is secured to the cam and the lever is used for rocking the cam 35 into and out of clamping engagement. The lever 36 is so positioned asto be placed and moved within the elongated slot 15.
When the lever 36 is in position asillustrated in Fig. 6 the cam is out of contactengagement with the shoe 31. a The shoe 31 has projecting ends 38 and 39 that outwardly extend from the central section of the shoe and the same engagethe verticaledges of the side walls 33 and 34 of the yoke. A hinge pin 40 is secured to the opposite edge of the shoe to that in, which the projections 38 and 39 of the baseare disposed and the ends of the shaft 40 and the projections 38 and 39 form a guideway so that the shoe 3'! will float up and down between the top 4| of the base and the bottom 4201f the camming surface. When the with the lever depressed, the shoe 3! and the base 4| are spaced apart to permit a free movement of the pressing assembly along the flattened surface 42 of the partially collapsed tube l6. A pressing plate 43 is hingedabout .the hinge pin 48 anda hand engaging lever 44 is secured to the free end of the pressing plate 43. The underside 45 of the pressing plate 4'3also' forms the segment of a circle and the application of pressure to the pressing plate 43 flattens the collapsible tube into a strip along its medial line to thereby exude the plastic material from the tube in an orderly manner and substantially central to that of the exuding slot disposed within the exuding head of the collapsible tube.
Th hand lever 44 is also positioned to be moved within the elongated slot [5 and when it is desired to place the container in which the collapsible tube is placed within a bag, the same may be moved toward the base end of the tube and entirely repressed within the assembly and into the position as illustrated in Fig. 6.
While the form of mechanism herein shown and described is admirably adapted to fulfill the objects primarily stated, it is to be understood that it is not intended to confine the invention to the embodiment herein shown and described, as it is susceptible of embodiment in various forms, all coming within the scope of the claims which follows What I claim is:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination of a pair of shell-forming members hinged together upon their one end and means disposed upon their opposite end for latching the shell members together, a pressing device removably disposed within the shell members and adapted to be moved longitudinally within the shell members, means for clamping the pressing device to a collapsible tube and means for applying pressure to the tube and for urging the contents of the tube toward the discharge end of the tube both of said means including clamping levers extending outwardly from the pressing device, a slot disposed in the wall of one of the shell members and the levers of the pressing means being normally disposed within the slot and for being manually manipulated within the slot and for being repressed within the encompassing walls of the shell-forming members. 1

In a device of the class described, the combination of a pair of shell-forming members fixedly secured together upon their one end and means disposed for removably attaching them together ipon their otherends, means for fixedly maintaining a tube within the shell members, pressure-applying means having clamping levers secured thereto disposed within and movable repressing the same within the confines of the shell-formingmembers.
3. In a device of the class described, the combination of a pair of shell-forming members fixedly secured together at their one end and means for removably attaching them together at their opposite ends, means for fixedly maintaining a.
