Abstract

A cosmetic container has a base and a cap. The base has a sidewall half. The sidewall half has a first end, a second end, a lower pivot element and a lower engagement element. The lower pivot element is formed on the first end. The lower engagement element is defined on the second end. The cap is mounted pivotally on the base and has a sidewall half. The sidewall half is mounted pivotally on the lower pivot element of the base and has a first end and an upper engagement element. The upper engagement element engages detachably with the lower engagement element of the base and is formed on the first end of the sidewall of the cap. The sidewall half of the cap contacts a table surface on which the cosmetic container is put to prevent the cosmetic container from falling down.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a cosmetic container, and especially a cosmetic container with a pivotal cap so that the cosmetic container can be stood stably.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • Conventional cosmetic containers are classified into different types. One type of a conventional cosmetic container comprises a base and a cap. The base has a cavity receiving a cosmetic product such as lipstick or cream. The cap is mounted detachably on the base. When the cap is opened, the cap is easily lost since the cap is detached from the base. The other type of a conventional cosmetic container comprises a base and a cap. The base also has a holder to mount cosmetic. The cap is mounted pivotally on the base. When the cap is opened, the conventional cosmetic container falls down and spills the cosmetic out since a position of a center of gravity of the conventional cosmetic container is outside the base.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The objective of the present invention is to provide a cosmetic container that protect the cosmetic from spilling out and has a base and a cap always mounted on the base.
  • To achieve the foregoing objective, a cosmetic container in accordance with the present invention has a base and a cap. The base has a sidewall half. The sidewall half has a first end, a second end, a lower pivot element and a lower engagement element. The lower pivot element is formed on the first end. The lower engagement element is defined on the second end. The cap is mounted pivotally on the base and has a sidewall half. The sidewall half is mounted pivotally on the lower pivot element of the base and has a first end and a upper engagement element. The upper engagement element engages detachably with the lower engagement element of the base and is formed on the first end of the sidewall of the cap.
  • Other objectives, advantages and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of a cosmetic container in accordance with the present invention;
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the cosmetic container in FIG. 1 with the cap opened;
  • FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the cosmetic container in FIG. 1 with a closed cap; and
  • FIG. 4 is a top view in partial section of the cosmetic container in FIG. 3.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • With reference to FIGS. 1 to 4, a cosmetic container in accordance with the present invention comprises a base (10), a cap (20), a pivot pin (25) and a mirror (16).
  • The base (10) comprises a bottom, a plane (11), a flange (12) and a sidewall half (13). The plane (11) is formed on the bottom of the base (10) and comprises a bottom, a top and an annular edge. The flange (12) is formed on and protrudes upward from the top of the plane (11). The sidewall half (13) is formed on and protrudes perpendicularly out from the annular edge of the plane (11) and comprises a first end, a second end, a lower pivot element (14) and a lower engagement element (15). The lower pivot element (14) is defined on the first end of the sidewall half (13) and comprises a pin hole (141). The pin hole (141) is defined in the lower pivot element (14). The lower engagement element (15) is formed on the second end of the sidewall half (13) and comprises a hook (151). The hook (151) protrudes outward from the lower engagement element (15) of the base (10).
  • The cap (20) is mounted pivotally on the base (10) and comprises a top (21) and a sidewall half (22). The top (21) of the cap (20) has an annular edge. The sidewall half (22) is mounted pivotally on the sidewall half (13) of the base (10), is formed on and protrudes perpendicularly out from the annular edge of the top (21). The sidewall half (22) comprises a first end, a second end, an upper pivot element (23) and an upper engagement element (24). The upper pivot element (23) is formed on the first end of the sidewall half (22) of the cap (20) and comprises a pin hole (231). The pin hole (231) is defined in the upper pivot element (23) and aligns with the pin hole (141) of the base. With further reference to FIG. 4, the upper engagement element (24) engages detachably with the lower engagement element(15) of the base (10), is formed on the second end of the sidewall (22) of the cap (20) and comprises a hook (241). The hook (241) hooks detachably on the hook (151) and is formed on and protrudes inward from the upper engagement element (24).
  • The pivot pin (25) is mounted in the pin holes (141, 231) to pivot the cap (20) on the base (10).
  • The mirror (16) is detachably mounted in the bottom of the base (10).
  • With reference to FIG. 3, a user unfastens the hook (241) on the cap (20) and then opens the cap (20). When the cap (20) is opened, the cosmetic container is stood firm since a height of the sidewall half (22) of the cap (20) is as same as a height of the sidewall half (13) of the base (10) and the sidewall half (22) of the cap (20) contact the a table surface on which the cosmetic container is put. Furthermore, the cap (20) is still mounted on the base (10) when the cap (20) is opened and will not be lost.
  • Even though numerous characteristics and advantages of the present invention have been set forth in the foregoing description, together with details of the structure and features of the invention, the disclosure is illustrative only. Changes may be made in the details, especially in matters of shape, size, and arrangement of parts within the principles of the invention to the full extent indicated by the broad general meaning of the terms in which the appended claims are expressed.
