3 Claims. (Cl. ill-51) The invention relates to a pasting machine and suitable manner. Located in this frame A, prefermore especially to that type of machine for the ably at one side of the median thereof, is a paste pasting together of materials, such for instance container or well it, this being f a y pp d as footwear bands and soles or other articles of form and open at its top, while arranged trans- 5 similar nature. The Vamps or soles, which are of versely of the container or well is a, paste feed 5 cloth, leather or imitation of leather, are fed into roller !3 having its axle itsuitably journaled and the machine from a moving table, where they are extended bey n the pp Side pieces I Q of the picked up by a paste roll for delivering paste frame. t one side of the roller i3 is a movable thereto and subsequently stripped from the paste table or bed B, while at the opposite .side is a roll, whence they are passed along to a conveyor ave g y r these being hereinafter 10 convenient to operators at either side thereof, f y described.
where and by whom the linings are placed on The table or bed B includes. a traveling end the Vamps, the machine operating automatically loss e pp d up rollers it and p to avoid manual handling of the material and tively, the a o W of t latter being mou d the paste applied will be uniformly delivered to n dju le be in s it, h e bein contro11 d 15 the material or the work. by set screws l9 fitted in the boxings 25 for the Another object of the invention is the provision said bearings, the h being Supported p of a machine of this character wherein the paste e S e p e es 5 5 of t e f a e A. The ax e 2! of is uniformly fed to the material and the pasting the other roller it, through a pulley 22' and belt operation carried forth with dispatch under the connection 23,1 is driven from the axle M, the 20 automatic operation of the machine, the latter latter through the pulleytt and belt 25 being being novel in make-up and in the assembly of ven f o a pow W l 26. its parts. Each size and includes spaced parallel side pieces it bearing is susceptible of adjustment through a joined with vertical uprights or legs ii and set screw it fitted within said upright 39 and. also transversely joined with each other in any the purpose of the roll 36 is to advance material 55 over the roller l3, and such material may be slipper or shoe bands M which are placed upon the table B and carried thereby in the direction of the roller i3, whence each is picked up by the roll 36 and conveyed across such roller it, so that the latter may apply paste to the face of the band at its contact side with the roller it, the paste 35 being delivered to the roller 13 from the container or well l2, as should be apparent.
At the pick-up side of the roller 53 is arranged a scraper blade adjustable by a device 43 manually controlled, the blade @2 being for the purpose of relieving excess paste from the roller I3 during the pick-up of the paste thereby, while at the other side of the roller 53 is a stripper blade 44 for stripping the work M from the roller [3 subsequent to the application of paste thereto by said roller and this stripper blade directs the Work onto the conveyor C, whence the operators on either or both sides of this conveyor will apply linings to the work, thereby completing the operation of the machine.
The roll 35, through the pulley 45 and belt 35, has driven connection with the axle Hi, the wires or spikes of this roll 365 functioning as pickers for action upon the work t! to carry it across the roller I3 during the paste applying activity of said roller.
The roll 36 can be termed a picker roll and the function thereof is to hold the material evenly onto paste roller l3 and such roll 35 can be retarded in speed as well as advanced to any degree desired to allow the paste to be applied to the material by the paste roller l3 in such quantities as may be desired and thus providing the same effect as the material being held down on top of paste roll uninovable until said paste roll has worked into the material the desired amount of paste necessary for the Work used, or, in other Words, this picker roll not moving at the same speed to conform with the paste roller allows the paste to be brushed into the material to the extent necessary for said material.
