Abstract

A golf club is disclosed that includes a shaft; a hollow cylindrical head including a shell formed of light metal, the shell including a right section, an intermediate neck, and a left section, and two blocks formed of a heavy metal, the blocks being secured in the right and the left sections respectively; and a ring member for fastening the shaft and the neck of the head together. The right section has an inclined face formed on one end and a plurality of parallel ridges formed on the inclined face. An axial hole of the shell through the right and the left sections has a diameter larger than that of the axial hole through the neck. The ridges can increase friction between the head and a ball hit by swinging the golf club.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of Invention
  • The present invention relates to golf clubs and more particularly to a golf club head having a light shell and two heavy blocks fastened in both ends of the shell so as to increase score while playing golf.
  • 2. Related Art
  • A conventional golf club (e.g., putter) is shown in FIG. 1 and comprises a short shaft A, a head C including a bezel C1 and a plurality of widthwise threaded holes C2 in the bezel C1, and a bent member B having an upper end secured to a bottom end of the shaft A.
  • A golf player may drive a fastener (e.g., screw) through the lower end of the bent member B into one of the holes C2 for fastening the bent member B and the head C together. It is understood that center of gravity of the putter head C may shift when the lower end of the bent member B is secured to different holes C2. It is also found the lower end of the bent member B is not secured to center of gravity of the head C. Thus, the percentage of successfully puffing a ball into a hole by swinging the putter is relatively low due to poor maneuverability of the golf club. Hence, a need has arisen for an improved golf club head.
    • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a golf club comprising a shaft including an upper gripping portion; a hollow cylindrical head including a shell formed of a first metal material, the shell including a right section, an intermediate section, and a left section, and two blocks formed of a second metal material heavier than the first metal material, the blocks being secured in the right and the left sections respectively; and a connection member for fastening the shaft and the head together.
  • In one aspect of the present invention the right section has an inclined face formed on one end and a plurality of parallel ridges formed on the inclined face.
  • In another aspect of the present invention an axial hole of the shell through the right and the left sections has a diameter larger than that of the axial hole through the intermediate section.
  • In a further aspect of the present invention the intermediate section is a neck, and the connection member comprises an upper projection adapted to secure to a lower end of the shaft, and a ring adapted to securely put on the neck.
  • The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following detailed description taken with the accompanying drawings.

    • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 to 4, a golf club in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention comprises a shaft 1 formed of a lightweight alloy and having a pad 11 formed on an upper gripping portion to provide a golf player with a degree of comfort while playing golf, and a lower threaded section 12.
  • The golf club further comprises a hollow cylindrical head 2 including a shell 21 formed of a lightweight metal. The shell 21 comprises an inclined face at one end and a straight face at other end. An axial hole of the shell 21 has two enlarged sections formed at its left and right portions respectively. The head further comprises two cylindrical blocks 22 formed of a heavy metal material in which the right block 22 has an inclined face at one end formed with a plurality of parallel ridges 221. The blocks 22 are dimensioned and shaped to fit securely within the enlarged sections of the hole of the shell 21. The shell 21 further comprises an intermediate neck.
  • The golf club further comprises a connection member 3 including an upper projection having inner threads adapted to secure to the threaded section 12, and a ring adapted to securely put on the neck of the shell 21 by threading.
  • The provision of the ridges 221 can increase friction between the head 2 and a ball hit by swinging the golf club. It is contemplated by the invention that a player can increase score by using the golf club in golf game.
  • While the invention herein disclosed has been described by means of specific embodiments, numerous modifications and variations could be made thereto by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention set forth in the claims.

Claims (6)

1. A golf club comprising:
a shaft including an upper gripping portion;
a hollow cylindrical head including a shell formed of a first metal material, the shell including a right section, an intermediate section, and a left section, and two blocks formed of a second metal material heavier than the first metal material, the blocks being secured in the right and the left sections respectively; and
a connection member for fastening the shaft and the head together.
2. The golf club of claim 1, wherein the shaft further comprises a pad formed on the gripping portion.
3. The golf club of claim 1, wherein the right section has an inclined face formed on one end.
4. The golf club of claim 3, further comprising a plurality of parallel ridges formed on the inclined face.
5. The golf club of claim 1, wherein an axial hole of the shell through the right and the left sections has a diameter larger than that of the axial hole through the intermediate section.
6. The golf club of claim 1, wherein the intermediate section is a neck, and wherein the connection member comprises an upper projection adapted to secure to a lower end of the shaft, and a ring adapted to securely put on the neck.
