Abstract
A confection support holder is disclosed. The confection support holder includes, a support chamber, a resilient insulation cover, an outer support cover, a plurality of protrusions and a reservoir. The resilient insulation cover includes a second resilient insulation side contacting said support chamber and a first resilient insulation side. The outer support cover includes a first cover side contacting a confection and a second cover side contacting said first resilient insulation side, a bottom cover portion, a top cover portion and a body cover portion. The plurality of protrusions contact said first cover side of said outer support cover and contact said confection, providing support. The reservoir, including a plurality of ridge members, is sealed to said bottom cover portion, providing protection from said confection dripping.
Description
- 1) Field of the Invention
- The invention relates to confection holders.
- 2) Discussion of the Related Art
- Frank Epperson developed the Popsicle™ when he left his fruit flavored soda outside on the porch with a stir stick in it. The drink froze to the stick and tasted good. It took 18 more years, and in 1923, Epperson applied for a patent on a “frozen ice on a stick” called the “Epsicle” ice pop, which his children re-named the Popsicle™.
- There have been many advances in confection holders since Frank Epperson invented the Popsicle™. Inventions have advanced in areas including; the prevention of confection dripping, including the ability to insert Popsicle™ sticks into a holder and providing holders for ice cream confections with or without cones.
- Disadvantages of previous confection holders are their inability to take advantage of positioning to support a confection for children. Confections are large. Some are six to twelve inches in length or larger, making current confection holder handling unwieldy for children. Moreover, children comprise the majority of confection consumers, yet current confection holders have not captured their interests.
- The invention is described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a confection support holder. -
FIG. 2 is a bottom view of the confection support holder. -
FIG. 3 is a top view of the confection support holder. -
FIG. 1 of the accompanying drawings illustrates components of aconfection support holder 2, according to an embodiment of the invention, which includes asupport chamber 4, adapted to fit at least one finger, aouter support cover 6, contacting aconfection 18, areservoir 20, including a plurality ofridge members 22, aresilient insulation cover 24 and a plurality ofprotrusion members 30. -
FIGS. 2 and 3 illustrate the components of theconfection support holder 2 in more detail. Saidsupport cover 6 includes afirst cover side 8, asecond cover side 10, atop cover portion 12, abottom cover portion 14 and abody cover portion 16. Said plurality of protrudingmembers 30 contact saidfirst cover side 8, said bottom cover portion, sealed to saidreservoir 20. Saidresilient insulation cover 24, includes a firstresilient insulation side 26, contacting saidsecond cover side 10, and a secondresilient insulation side 28 contacting saidsupport chamber 4, finger, upon insertion. - In use, a consumer inserts at least one finger into the
support chamber 4, saidsupport chamber 4 contacting saidsecond cover side 10, saidfirst cover side 8, contacting and supporting saidconfection 18, saidbottom cover portion 14 sealed to saidreservoir 20, saidreservoir 20 protecting the consumer from a dripping of theconfection 18. In an embodiment, saidtop cover portion 12, saidbottom cover portion 14 and saidbody cover portion 16, at a first, a second and a third diameter, respectively, are. substantially similar, as saidconfection holder 2, can encompass a variety of shapes and sizes. In another embodiment, saidreservoir 20 includes a plurality ofridge members 22, aiding consumer in insertion of at least one finger into thesupport chamber 4. - In an embodiment of the invention, said
confection support holder 2 includes saidresilient insulation cover 24, supporting said consumer and controlling temperature. The consumer inserts at least one finger into saidsupport chamber 4, contacting said secondresilient insulation side 28, said firstresilient insulation side 26 contacting saidsecond cover side 10. Theresilient insulation cover 24, contracting, secures said at least one finger within saidconfection support holder 2. - In another embodiment of the invention, said
resilient insulation cover 24 is continuous with saidouter support cover 6 andsupport chamber 4, providing maximum support to said at least one finger. In another embodiment, a width of saidresilient insulation cover 24 is substantially similar to a width of saidouter support cover 6, saidreservoir 20 and saidsupport chamber 4, providing temperature stability, protectingconfection 18 from heat of said at least one finger, increasing longevity of saidconfection 18, and protecting said consumer from cold temperatures in cases of holding saidconfection 18, that is formed of ice. - The
confection support holder 2, in an embodiment, includes said plurality of protrudingmembers 30, contacting saidfirst cover side 8 of saidouter support cover 6 and saidconfection 18, providing support and stability to saidconfection 18. In another embodiment, said plurality of protrudingmembers 30 are square-shaped. In another embodiment, said plurality of protrudingmembers 30 are staggered. In another embodiment, a width of said plurality of protruding members is substantially similar to said outer support layer. - An advantage of the confection support holder is the structure. The
outer support cover 6 and saidresilient insulation 24 accommodates small appendages of a child, allowing the child to maintain control of any sizedconfection 18, in a position that is most comfortable. Theresilient insulation cover 24 also provides temperature control, maintaining a comfortable environment throughout the duration of consuming theconfection 18, by reducing the amount of heat transfer to theconfection 18 and the amount of cold to said inserted at least one finger inside thesupport chamber 4. - Another advantage of said
confection support holder 2 is its ability to maintain the integrity of saidconfection 18. The plurality ofprotrusions 30, contacting saidfirst cover side 8 of theouter support cover 6 andconfection 18, provide support to saidconfection 18 by allowing the confection to adhere to multiple shapes and arrangements, increasing the longevity of saidconfection 18. The plurality of protrudingmembers 30 can be square-shaped and/or staggered, or at a width similar to said outer support layer, maximizing the stability ofconfection 18. - While certain exemplary embodiments have been described and shown in the accompanying drawings, it is to be understood that such embodiments are merely illustrative and not restrictive of the current invention, and that this invention is not restricted to the specific constructions and arrangements shown and described since modification may occur to those ordinarily skilled in the art.
