Abstract
A machine for Improved Curve Step and Stretching Device unique design of the Aerobic Curve gives a deeper stretching and muscle toning. A stretching routine before and after your work out or playing sports, will give better results, help prevent injury and promote flexibility. Stretching and exercising on the Aerobic Curve is a wonderful stretching and building routine to maximize your work out, build a strong body, enhance balance, body alignment, flexibility and maximize users muscles. The Aerobic Curve prepares and trains the core, (human mid section), and the whole body to get strong and hold up the body. The Aerobic Curve prepares the body to receive results. With a semicircular base unit made from preferably wood or a plastic like material, a padded rubber mat is preferably made from a rubber like material. An exercising, toning, stretching device for use in performing exercises, toning, stretching muscles.

- In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, there is disclosed a machine for Improved Curve Step and Stretching Device comprising: a base unit made from preferably wood or a plastic like material, as shown in
FIG. 1 , a padded rubber mat is preferably made from a rubber like material, as shown inFIG. 1A , an adhesive is a preferably glue like in character, recessed handles are preferably made from wood or a plastic like material used in the base, as shown inFIG. 1 , adjustable strap is preferably made from a fiber like material such as nylon, as shown inFIG. 4 , the resistance bands with two handles is preferably made from a rubber like material, semisolid and stretchable, as shown inFIG. 5 , the recessed groves are preferably a part of the base, as shown inFIG. 2 , the friction pad is preferably made from a rubber like material, as shown inFIG. 2 , and the resistance ribbons are preferably made from rubber like material, and stretchable. as shown inFIG. 5 . 1. An exercising, toning, stretching device for use in performing exercises, toning, stretching muscles. The relationship between parts preferably revolves around the base comprising: a semicircular base made from preferably wood or a plastic like material, which is substantially strong enough to support a users weight while stretches and exercises are being performed and having: a) a substantially flat, lower base portion including a first pair of spaced, generally parallel, opposite edges, a second pair of spaced, generally parallel, opposite edges generally perpendicular to said pair of edges, b) a pair of upstanding sidewalls, each being operable connected to one of said first pair of opposite edges of said base portion and having a substantially semicircle shaped configuration, c) an upper portion spanning said first and second pair of opposite edges of said base portion in a covering relation, including a first pair of opposite edges of said upper portion operable connected to said second pair of opposite edges of said base portion, and a second pair of opposite edges of said upper portion forming a co-planar surface with said walls and correspondingly abutting said side walls in a substantially semicircular configuration, each of said second pair of upper portion opposite edges being operable connected to one of said upstanding side walls. 2. An exercise device as recited in claim 1 further comprising a rubber like pad rectangular in shape attached to the flat portion of the base. 3. An exercise device as recited inclaim 2 further comprising of grooves to the flat portion of the base, between the rectangular pads running centered parallel and centered perpendicular to base side walls. 4. An exercise device as recited in claim 1, wherein said device is preferably made of wood or rigid plastic like material. 5. An exercise device as recited in claim 1 further comprising a cushion secured to and sized and configured to substantially cover said upper spanning portion of said device. 6. An exercise device as recited in claim 3 wherein said recessed grooves provide a means for placement of resistance band with two handles. 7. An exercise device as recited in claim 3 wherein said recessed grooves provide a means for placement of resistance ribbons. 8. An exercise device as recited inclaim 4 wherein said recessed handles is secured to upper portion of said upstanding side walls of said device. - The drawings constitute a part of this specification and include exemplary embodiments to the invention, which may be embodied in various forms. It is to be understood, however, that the present invention may be embodied in various forms. Therefore, specific details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but rather as a basis for the claims and as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to employ the present invention in virtually any appropriately detailed system, structure or manner.
- As illustrated in
FIG. 1 , the present invention is directed towards an improved exercise device, generally indicated as 10. The exercise device comprises a substantially flat lower base portion, 11, which in the preferred embodiment is rectangular in shape, although it will be understood that the device would function equally as well in a square, trapezoidal, or similarly shaped base portion. As best shown inFIG. 2 , the base 11 includes four resistance and stabilizing pads, generally parallelopposite edges opposite edges first pair sidewall 12 has a substantially semicircular shaped configuration. Although not clearly shown in the drawings, a second upstanding side wall which is a mirror image tofirst side wall 21 is operable connected at its lower end to the base portion at the other of the first pair of opposite and parallel edges, such as at 12, and also has an upper end having a substantially semicircular shaped configuration. The device further includes anupper portion 13 which spans opposite edges of the base 11 in a covering relation and as best shown inFIG. 1 , is sized and configured to form a co-planar surface between the sidewalls which is substantially semicircular in shape, correspondingsidewalls 12. More particularly, upper spanningportion 13 has a first pair ofopposite edges opposite edges portion 13 also includes a second pair of opposite edges, 12 and 21, each of which is operable connected to one of theupstanding side walls 12 along its upper ends, as shown inFIG. 1 . In the preferred embodiment, the overall size and dimension of device 10 allows it to be conveniently transported and stored in places such as under a bed or even in the overhead compartment on an airplane, train, etc. - In the most preferred embodiment, the exercise device 10 is a simple, integrally formed, one piece body. While the device 10 could be made of metal, wood, or any other suitably strong material, it is preferably made of a molded plastic like material. It is contemplated that when the body of device 10 is integrally formed of a suitable plastic material, it has the advantages of being substantially rigid, yet lightweight, and of being relatively inexpensive to manufacture. Additional advantages to forming the body of device from a suitable plastic material include providing a smooth surface for the user, which would be less likely to cause injury to the user and/or to tear or snag clothing. It will however, be appreciated by those skilled in the art that the base, sidewalls and upper portion of the device could be formed of another type of material such as wood or metal, and in such a case, sidewalls 12 could be connected to the base portion edges 12, 21 and the upper spanning
portion 13 could be interconnected with the base 11 and sidewalls 12, 21 by other means such as adhesives, nails, staples, or other securing means known in the art which will nonetheless ensure that the device is sufficiently sturdy to support the body weight of an exerciser. - As has been described, the device 10 will support the exerciser's upper body weight when in use, as best shown in
FIG. 1 . Because the exerciser directly contacts the device 10 along the rigid surface of upper spanningportion 13, it is preferable to provide the device with acushion 24 for comfort. As shown inFIG. 1A , the cushion is preferably sized and configured to cover the spanningupper portion 13. While thecushion 24 can be fixedly secured to the device 10 by way of adhesives. - In the preferred embodiment, the device 10 will also include at least one recessed
handle 17 thereon, as shown inFIG. 1 . In the most preferred embodiment where the device is integrally formed of a suitable plastic material, the handle will be integrally formed within the device 10, and positioned withinupstanding side walls upstanding side walls - As shown in
FIG. 1 , the device 10 can be used directly on the ground or a floor surface. The device prepares and trains the core, (human body mid section), and the whole body to get stronger and hold up the body. The Curve prepares the body to receive results. The exercises are described in a copyrighted 90 page manual entitled “Aerobic Curve” by Dahlene and Ross Rester 2005.
- While the invention has been described in connection with a preferred embodiment, it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention to the particular form set forth, but on the contrary, it is intended to cover such alternatives, modifications, and equivalents as may be included within the spirit and scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
Claims (9)
1. A machine for Improved Curve Step and Stretching Device comprising:
a base unit made from preferably wood or a plastic like material;
a padded rubber mat is preferably made from a rubber like material;
an adhesive is a preferably glue like in character;
recessed handles are preferably made from wood or a plastic like material used in the base;
adjustable strap is preferably made from a fiber like material such as nylon;
the resistance bands with two handles is preferably made from a rubber I like material, semisolid and stretchable;
the recessed groves are preferably a part of the base;
the friction pad is preferably made from a rubber like material; and
the resistance ribbons are preferably made from rubber like material, and stretchable.
2. An exercising, toning, stretching device for use in performing exercises, toning, stretching muscles as recited in claim 1 . The relationship between parts preferably revolves around the base comprising:
a semicircular base made from preferably wood or a plastic like material, which is substantially strong enough to support a users weight while stretches and exercises are being performed and having:
a) a substantially flat, lower base portion including a first pair of spaced, generally parallel, opposite edges, a second pair of spaced, generally parallel, opposite edges general perpendicular to said pair of edges;
b) a pair of upstanding sidewalls, each being operable connected to one of said first pair of opposite edges of said base portion and having a substantially semicircle shaped configuration;
c) an upper portion spanning said first and second pair of opposite edges of said base portion in a covering relation, including a first pair of opposite edges of said upper portion operable connected to said second pair of opposite edges of said base portion, and a second pair of opposite edges of said upper portion forming a co-planar surface with said walls and correspondingly abutting said side walls in a substantially semicircular configuration, each of said second pair of upper portion opposite edges being operable connected to one of said upstanding side walls.
3. An exercise device as recited in claim 2 further comprising a rubber like pad rectangular in shape attached to the flat portion of the base.
4. An exercise device as recited in claim 3 further comprising of grooves to the flat portion of the base, between the rectangular pads running centered parallel and centered perpendicular to base side walls.
5. An exercise device as recited in claim 1 , wherein said device is preferably made of wood or rigid plastic like material.
6. An exercise device as recited in claim 1 further comprising a cushion secured to and sized and configured to substantially cover said upper spanning portion of said device.
7. An exercise device as recited in claim 4 wherein said recessed grooves provide a means for placement of resistance band with two handles.
8. An exercise device as recited in claim 4 wherein said recessed grooves provide a means for placement of resistance ribbons.
9. An exercise device as recited in claim 5 wherein said recessed handles is secured to upper portion of said upstanding side walls of said device.
