Abstract

A simple fitted sheet will secure to new ‘thick’ style of mattresses; Pillowtop mattresses for instance. A non-elastic cord moves easily through the hem channel and is pulled tightly out through a single opening. The non-elastic cord then secures it to the mattress and is then fastened with a fastener. The cord is continuous (without ends) to ensure that washing, drying and general handling prevents the problem of the ends retracting into the hem.

Description

  • This application claims the benefits of provisional patent application number 60/733,576 filed on Nov. 7, 2005.
  • 1. FIELD OF THE INVENTION
  • This invention enhances the bed sheet for the thick luxury bedding such as Pillowtop mattresses. The enhanced bed sheet incorporates a non-elastic cord in the hem which can be pulled tight and fastened. The non-elastic cord is a continuous loop with no ends. There is an improvement with the continuous loop with no ends. The benefit of not losing the ends inside the hem during use, washing, drying and general handling is why the continuous cord is an improvement. The cord exits through a single opening that promotes ease when pulling the non-elastic cord tight and fastening with a fastener.
  • 2. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The purpose of the invention is to have a bed sheet that is appropriate for current day luxury bedding such as thick Pillowtop mattresses. The bed sheet will fasten to any thick sized mattress; and virtually stop sheet adjusting and corners slopping off. When sheets shrink; they will still fasten tightly on the thick sized mattress.
  • 3. DESCRIPTION OF THE ILLUSTRATION
  • FIG. 1 Drawing illustrates sheet pulled over mattress.
  • FIG. 2 View of thick mattress sheet from bottom after cord is pulled and fastened.
  • 4. DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
  • The preferred embodiment described declares generally how the invention operates. The chosen details are not to limit the inventions application in use.
  • The bed sheet is fashioned as a traditional fitted sheet. A sheeth with a flat portion of fabric is on the surface (A) and a border (B) formed covers the perimeter of the mattress (G). A hem (F) is sewn into the bottom edge of the border (B) around the perimeter. A non-elastic cord (D) is within the hem. The cord (D) is continuous and without ends. The cord exits the sheet through single opening (C). The non-elastic cord (D) (after being pulled tight) is then fastened in the tight position with a fastener (E). The shape of the sheet is of today's standard rectangular mattress sizes. The benefit of the non-elastic cord (D) being able to be fastened tight to the mattress allows the sheet to remain stationary and in place on the thickest of current day luxury mattresses; such as Pillowtop mattresses until it is removed. This is beneficial due to shrinking of linens and the problems of expanding, loosening or slipping of the standard bed sheet on popular thick luxury mattresses. A single opening (C) promotes ease when the non-elastic cord (D) is pulled and fastened with a fastener (E); it also promotes durability of the invention. A single opening (C) is also able to secure tighter and is easier to operate the pulling and fastening process. It resists room for the fastener (E) or non-elastic cord to slip.
  • The continuous non-elastic cord (D) is necessary in the function of the luxury bedding fastening bed sheet to prohibit problem situations of losing the non-elastic cord (D) ends inside the hem opening (C) during washing, drying and general use.

Claims (4)

1. A standard fitted bed sheet comprising of a sheeth of fabric with a border in which the bottom edge has a hem creating a channel which runs the perimeter of the sheet.
2. The sheet in claim 1 wherein the hem that runs the perimeter contains a non-elastic continuous cord that easily moves through hem channel.
3. The sheet in claim 1 wherein the hem at the bottom edge that contains a non-elastic continuous cord has a single opening for the non-elastic continuous cord to exit thereby simplifying the securing process making it easier to operate during the pulling and fastening process.
4. The continuous cord in claim 2 is continuous and provides a solution to the ends of said cord retracting inside the single opening in the hem of the sheet during washing, drying and general handling and use.
