Abstract
A desk of the present invention has a plank member with a slot and a retractable board. Two parallel rails are provided in the slot and engaged with the retractable board. The retractable board is moved between a retracted condition and an extended condition. When the retractable board is moved to the retracted condition, the retractable board is located in the slot of the desk, and when the retractable board is moved to the extended condition, the retractable board is moved out of the slot and substantially perpendicular to the plank member.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates generally to a device for presentation, and more particularly to a desk with a retractable board and the retractable device.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- In assembly room, there are a desk a couple of chairs and a white board. People can write on the white board for presentation. The white board usually takes a lot of space that might take the path of walking.
- In many companies, there are a couple of assembly rooms bit only have one white board. The white board has to be moved between the rooms that also makes inconvenient.
- The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a desk with a retractable board that take less space of the assembly room.
- The secondary objective of the present invention is to provide a retractable board assembly to be mounted on any desk, such that the desk can provide a white board when necessary.
- According to the objectives of the primary present invention, a desk of the present invention has a plank member with two parallel rails and a retractable board provided on the rail for movement. The retractable board is moved between a retracted condition and an extended condition. When the retractable board is moved to the retracted condition, the retractable board is located in the desk, and when the retractable board is moved to the extended condition, the retractable board is moved out of the desk and substantially perpendicular to the plank member.
- According to the objectives of the secondary present invention, a retractable board device includes a base to be fixed to a desk, on which two rails are mounted. A retractable board is engaged with the rails for movement. The retractable board is moved between a retracted condition and an extended condition. When the retractable board is moved to the retracted condition, the retractable board is located in the base, and when the retractable board is moved to the extended condition, the retractable board is moved out of the base and substantially perpendicular to the base.
- 10. The retractable board device as defined in claim 9, wherein the base has a plate, on which the rails are provided, and a cover mounted on the plate to mask the rails.

FIG. 10 is a perspective view of a part of the fourth preferred embodiment of the present invention. - As shown in
FIG. 1 toFIG. 5 , the first preferred embodiment of the present invention provides adesk 10 having aplank member 12 with aslot 14 on a bottom thereof. The slot is open at the bottom and an edge of theplank member 12 and has twosidewalls 16. Tworails 18 are mounted on thesidewalls 16 respectively. - A
retractable board 20 has abase board 22 and amovable board 24 connected together byhinges 26, such that themovable board 24 is tuned relative to thebase board 22. Aratchet device 28 is provided between thebase board 22 and themovable board 24, such that themovable board 24 can be fixed at any angle. Thebase board 22 and themovable board 24 have slidingmembers rails 18, such that thebase board 22 and themovable board 24 can slide along therails 18. - In a retracted condition, as shown in
FIG. 1 andFIG. 3 , themovable board 24 is turned 180 degrees relative to thebase board 22 and both of thebase board 22 and themovable board 24 are received in theslot 14 of theplank member 12. In use, themovable board 24 is drawn out of theslot 14 and disengaged with therails 18, and thebase board 22 has a portion still received in theslot 14 and engaged with therails 18. Now, themovable board 24 is turned upwards about 90 degrees to an extended condition, and the ratchet will fix themovable board 24 at the extended condition, as shown inFIG. 4 . - In the retracted condition, the
desk 10 of the present invention is as same as the normal desk. In the extended condition, thedesk 10 of the present invention has the verticalmovable board 24 at an edge of the desk to be used as white board, show board, screen (for projector) and the like. - As shown in
FIG. 5 , adesk 32 of the second preferred embodiment of the preset invention, which is similar to thedesk 10 of the first preferred embodiment, except that amovable board 34 is pivoted with two extendedboards 36 on opposite edges along a horizontal orientation. In a folding condition, the extendedboards 36 are turned inwards and rested on themovable board 36. In an extended condition, the extendedboards 36 are turned outwards for 180 degrees, such that we will have the board with greater area on thedesk 32. -
FIG. 6 shows adesk 38 of the third preferred embodiment of the preset invention, which amovable board 40 has an extendedboard 42 pivoted on a top thereof. In a folding condition, the extendedboard 42 is turned downwards and rested on themovable board 40. In an extended condition, the extendedboard 42 are turned upwards for 180 degrees, such that we will have the board with greater area on thedesk 38. - As shown in
FIG. 7 toFIG. 9 , the fourth preferred embodiment of the present invention provides aretractable board device 44. Theretractable board device 44 has abase 46 and aretractable board 54. Thebase 46 includes aplate 48, on which twoparallel rails 52, and acover 50 to mask therails 52. Theretractable board 54 has abase board 56 and amovable board 58. Thebase board 56 and themovable board 58 have slidingmembers rails 52, such that thebase board 56 and themovable board 58 can slide along therails 52. - The
plate 48 of thebase 46 is provided withbores 62 to fix theretractable board device 44 of the present invention on a bottom of aplank 66 of adesk 64 by screws. As same as above, themovable board 58 may be drawn out and turned upwards to form a vertical board at an edge of thedesk 64. - As shown in
FIG. 10 , thebase board 56 has a fixedportion 68 with twoholes movable board 74 has ahole 74. While themovable board 58 is turned downwards and upwards, thehole 74 of themovable board 74 is aligned with theholes base board 56 respectively, such that apin 76 can be inserted into the holes to fix themovable board 58 in horizontal condition and vertical condition.
Claims (16)
1. A desk having a plank member with two parallel rail and a retractable board provided on the rail for movement, wherein the retractable board is moved between a retracted condition, in which the retractable board is located in the desk, and an extended condition, in which the retractable board is moved out of the desk and substantially perpendicular to the plank member.
2. The desk as defined in claim 1 , wherein the plank member has a slot with two sidewalls, on which the rails are provided, and the retractable board is received in the slot in the retractable condition.
3. The desk as defined in claim 1 , wherein the retractable board has a base board with sliding member engaged with the rails for movement and a movable board pivoted on an end of the base board to be turned to the extended condition.
4. The desk as defined in claim 3 , further comprising means for fixing the movable board at the extended condition.
5. The desk as defined in claim 4 , wherein a ratchet is provided between the base board and the movable board.
6. The desk as defined in claim 4 , wherein the base board has a hole, and the movable board has a hole whereby the hole of the movable board is aligned with the hole of the base board when the movable board is moved to the extended condition to insert a pin in the holes.
7. The desk as defined in claim 1 , wherein the retractable board is pivoted with an extended board on an edge along a horizontal direction.
8. The desk as defined in claim 1 , wherein the retractable board is pivoted with an extended board on an edge along a perpendicular direction.
9. A retractable board device, comprising:
a base to be fixed to a desk;
two rails mounted on the base;
a retractable board engaged with the rails for movement, wherein the retractable board is moved between a retracted condition, in which the retractable board is located in the base, and an extended condition, in which the retractable board is moved out of the base and substantially perpendicular to the base.
10. The retractable board device as defined in claim 9 , wherein the base has a plate, on which the rails are provided, and a cover mounted on the plate to mask the rails.
11. The retractable board device as defined in claim 9 , wherein the retractable board has a base board and a movable board pivoted on the base board to be turned relative to the base board.
12. The retractable board device as defined in claim 9 , further comprising means for fixing the movable board at the extended condition.
13. The retractable board device as defined in claim 12 , wherein a ratchet is provided between the base board and the movable board.
14. The retractable board device as defined in claim 12 , wherein the base board has a hole, and the movable board has a hole whereby the hole of the movable board is aligned with the hole of the base board when the movable board is moved to the extended condition to insert a pin in the holes.
15. The retractable board device as defined in claim 9 , wherein the retractable board is pivoted with an extended board on an edge along a horizontal direction.
16. The retractable board device as defined in claim 9 , wherein the retractable board is pivoted with an extended board on an edge along a perpendicular direction.
