Abstract

The Speargun Half-wrap is a new invention for spearfishermen that holds a half-wrap of speargun shooting line.

Description

    Background of the Invention
  • This patent application is for a speargun half-wrap a device that attaches to the barrel allowing it (the speargun) to hold an additional half-wrap of shooting line giving greater shooting range without adding a cumbersome second wrap of shooting line. It is a product that gives an advantage to a spearfisherman and was developed utilizing both my passion for diving and molding of plastic parts.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The “Speargun Shooting Line Half-wrap” is any device on the barrel of a speargun that holds a ½ wrap of shooting line.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWING
  • FIG. 1—This figure shows a side view of a Speargun Half-Wrap and the speargun shooting line.
  • FIG. 2—This figure shows a top view of a Speargun Half-Wrap and the speargun shooting line.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • To prevent lost fish, lost spears, or shooting a fellow diver spearguns utilize a leash or “shooting line” to keep track of the spear shaft after it is shot. Currently all techniques to attach the spear to the gun with a shooting line utilize a mechanical line release that is located near the rear of the speargun trigger that releases when the speargun is fired.
  • Today, if a spearfisherman wanted to add additional shooting distance and by increasing the shooting line length their only option would be to make a second wrap of line from the rear release mechanism to a forward pin, this process called adding a “double wrap”.
  • Although the addition of a “double wrap” is a very common practice it is not without drawbacks, the primary concern is that additional amounts of line in the water is always prone to tangle with SCUBA regulators, dive masks, watches, the speargun itself, or any other device in close proximity. To overcome this problem of a “single-wrap” being too short and a “double wrap” as having too much shooting line in the water I have invented the “half-wrap” a device that will hold a very manageable “half-wrap” of line. The “half-half” wrap is and clip, protrusion, hook, or release that attaches to the mid-section of a speargun barrel and holds a “half-wrap” of shooting line that is drawn from the front end of the speargun to the rear line release and finally held the “half-wrap” half-way up the speargun barrel.

Claims (1)
