Co-operating with the magnet 33 in circuit 46 is a spring-held switch 56 adapted and arranged to control a circuit 51, said circuit 51 being the circuit which operates the arc light for machine II.
The switch 43 carries two switch contacts 58 and 58, the former controlling a circuit 68 and the latter controlling the corresponding branch circuit 41, as shown. The circuit 60 is the circuit which operates or controls the operation of the sound mechanism for the picture machine II so that, when the corresponding secondary circuit 35 or branch circuit 41 is closed, the circuit 68 will also be closed for operation of the sound for the machine Il. The switch 43 also carries a switch contact 6I controlling the branch circuit 49 from secondary control circuit 31, as indicated, and so that when circuits 41 and 60 are closed, the circuit 48 will be opened..
Co-operating with the electro-magnet 33 in the branch circuit 41 is a spring-held switch 62 carrying a contact 63 controlling a circuit 64, the circuit 64 being the circuit which controls or operates the shutter or automatic cut-out for the light for the machine I I so that when branch circuit 41 is closed, the light for machine II will be established. Switch 62 also carries a switch contact 65 included in secondary control circuit 35, so that when circuits 41 and 64 are closed, secondary control circuit 35 will be broken.

The switch member 44 carries two contacts 68 and 68', contact 68 controlling a circuit 69 and contact 68 controlling the branch circuit 48. Circuit`63 includes an electro-magnet co-operating with the switch which controls the operating circuit 1I for machine I0 so that when branch circuit 43 is closed, the operating circuit 1I for machine I0 is also closed and the operation of machine I6 begun.

All of the circuits are supplied with current, as indicated, from a supply circuit 18.
In operation, with the parts in the positions indicated in Fig. 1, in which positions the iilm I3 has just passed beyond the contacts 24 and 25, the iilm I2 will be in full operation. The film I3 is at once removed from the projecting machine II and a new iilm I3 substituted for it. Sometime, also, during the operation of film I2 and prior to the passage of theextreme end thereof through the contacts 22 and 23, the manual switch 46' in the branch circuit 46 is closed. Then, when the switch member I4 passes into co-operative relationship with the contacts 22, the primary control circuit I8will be grounded, thereby unbalancing and actuating the tube 26 to permit flow of suicient current in circuit I3 to excite the corresponding magnet 33, thereby closing switch 38. The flow of current through the circuit I8 is so small and the resistance oi the pencil mark switch I4 is so great that there will and can be absolutely no sparking when circuit I8 is made or broken. This permits use of the apparatus in vconjunction with moving picture lms or other iniiammable objects without danger of fire. Closing the switch 38 closes secondary control circuit 34 through the corresponding electromagnet 33 which operates to close circuits 46 and 52. Closing of circuit 52 starts the operation of projecting machine I l for the commencement of the operation of the newly inserted iilm I3. At the same time, branch circuit 46 is closed, thereby exciting the corresponding magnet 33 to close switch 56 which closes circuit 51 so that the arc circuit 51 for the light or arc for machine II is operated to establish the arc and thereby place the newly inserted iilm I3 in operation.
It is to be noted that the branch circuit 46 leads from the circuit 34 from a position beyond the magnet 33 so that the circuit 46 will itself operate to keep itself and the circuit 52 closed, notwithstanding the almost immediate breaking,
of circuit 34 due to the passage of the switch member I4 beyond the contacts 22.
As soon as the switch member I5, through the continued operation of the iilm I2, closes the primary control circuit I9, the secondary control circuit 35 will be closed to excite electro-magnet 33, thereby closing branch circuit 41 and control circuit' 60. The closure of control circuit 64 startsthe operation of the sound mechanism of machine Il and, at the same time, circuit 48 is broken, opening circuits 13 and 16 and closing circuit 41. The opening of circuit 13 closes the light shutter for machine I0, thereby extinguishing the saine, and the opening of circuit 16 stops the sound mechanism for machine I6, as indicated in Fig. 3.
The operation of machine I8 continues until iilm I2 completely passes therethrough, whereupon the switch 48 is opened to break the circuit 48, thereby also opening circuits 61 and 68, as indicated in Fig. 3.

A new film I3 is now substituted for the iilm I2 and switch 48 closed to prepare the system for continued operation.
In the meantime, as explained above, the machine I I is in complete operation and so continues until the end of thelm comes to the contacts 24 and 25, whereupon the operations above described are repeated in conjunction with iilm I3 as they were for iilm I2. Thus, when switch member I6 passes into co-operative relationship with the contacts 24, primary circuit 20 is grounded to close secondary circuit 36, thereby closing circuits 61 and 63. The closing of circuit 61 starts the arc for machine I0 and the closing of circuit 68 starts the motor for machine I8, thus starting the-operation of iilm I2, as indicated in Fig. 4.-
Then when switch member I1 passes into cooperative relationship with the contacts 25, primary circuit 2I is grounded to close secondary circuit 31, thereby closing circuits 13 and 16 and breaking circuit". Closing oi circuit 13 opens the light shutter for iilm I2 of machine il and closing of circuit 18 starts the operation of the sound mechanism for machine il and film I2. Breaking the circuit 41 opens circuits ll and M, thus placing the parts in condition for repeating the above cycle of operation, as indicated in Pig. 1.
In this manner, the two light projecting machines will be automatically controlled, each by the illm of the other, so that there will be no perceptible interruption in the performance as the change is made from one tllm to another. It is also to be noted that Ythere will be no sparking or other material-electrical disturbance when the lchange is made so that the system may be safely employed in conjunction with moving picture illm or other inflammable elements.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred form of construction for carrying my invention into eilect, this is capable of variation and modiiication without departing from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come within thescope of the appended claims.
I claim: y
1. 'Ihe combination of two primary control circuits each including a switch operating magnet; two secondary control circuits each includmg 4a switch operable by one of said magnets; a grid glow control tube in each of said primary circuits; a moving picture projector including a traveling moving picture iilm carrying longitu- VdLnally spaced means for unbalancing and thereby actuating said tubes in succession to actuate said primary circuits to actuate said switches to actuate said secondary circuits; and separate operating circuits operable by said secondary circuits 4and arranged to cause actuation of desired instrumentalities.
2. The combination of two primary control circuits each including a switch operating magnet; two secondary control circuits each including a switch operable by one of said magnets; a grid glow control tube in each of said primary circuits;
a moving picture projector including a traveling moving picthre iilm vcarrying longitudinally spaced means for grounding the grids of said tubes in succession to unbalance and thereby actuate said primary circuits to actuate said switches to actuate said secondary circuits; and separate operating circuits operable by said secondary circuits and arranged to cause actuation ot desired instrumentalities.
3. moving picture projectors including traveling moving picture illms each carrying longitudinally spaced means for grounding the grids ot one pair otsaidtubesinontounbalanceand thereby actuate the corresponding pair of primary circuits to actuate the corresponding pair oi switches to actuate the corresponding pair of secondary circuits; and separate operating circuits ior each oi' said projectors operable by said secondary circuits.

The combination of four primary control circuits arranged in two co-operating pairs each including a switch operating magnet; four secondary control circuits each including a switch operable by one ot said magnets; a grid glow control tube in each oi said primary circuits; two moving vpicture projectors including traveling moving picture illms each carrying longitudinally spaced means for unbalancing and thereby actuating one pair o! said tubes in succession to actuate the corresponding-pair of primary cir-- cuits to actuate the corresponding pair of switches toactuate thecopairofsecondary circuits; separate operating circuits for each of said projectors operable by said secondary circuits; a branch circuit leading from each of said secondary circuits at a point to cause, when closed, excitation of the corresponding secondary circuit magnet; a magnet in each of said branch circuits; a control circuit including a switch operable by each branch circuit magnet; and means on each switch in each secondary circuit for simultaneously closing the corresponding branch circuit.

The combination of four primary control circuits arranged in two co-operating pairs each including a switch operating magnet; four secondary control circuits each including a switch operable by one o! said magnets; a grid glow control tube in each oi said primary circuits; two moving picture projectors including traveling moving picture iilms each carrying longitudinally spaced means for grounding the grids of one pair of said tubes in succession to unbalance and thereby actuate the pair ot primary circuits to actuate the pair ot switches to actuate the corresponding pair of secondary circuits: Separate operating circuits for each o! said projectors operable by said secondary circuits; a branch circuit from each of said secondary circuits at point to cause, when closed, excitation o! the secondary circuitmagnet; amagnetineachofsaidbranch circuits; a control circuit including a switch operle by each branch circuit magnet; and means oneachswitch ineachsecondarycircuiti'or simultaneoly closing the corresponding branch circuit.

'lbe combination of two moving picture projecting machines, each including atraveling picture illm; electric circuits for operatingsaid machines; switch contacts in each o! said circuits; and two longitudinally spaced succenively operating electric switch members on each nlm, each preceding switch member controlling the switch contacts in the circuit i'or` tbe other machine and eachsucceedingswitchmembercontrollingthe.-
switch contacts in the circuits for both machines.
8. The combination of two moving picture proiecting machines each including a traveling picture nlm; electric circuits, including a switch, for
operating said machines; tour primary control circuits each including a switch operating magnet; a secondary control circuit for each primary control circuit and including a switch oper-- able by said magnet; a grid control tube in said primary circuit; a mechanism and cooperating flexible destructible band-like traveling member movable endwisely, said mechanism operating on and causing travel of said member; an operating circuit for said mechanism; means operable by said secondary circuit for controlling said operating circuit; and means on said traveling member for unbalancing and thereby actuating said tube to actuate said primary circuit to actuate said switch to actuate said secondary circuit.
l0. The combination of a primary control circuit including a switch operating magnet; a
lsecondary control circuit including a switch operable by said magnet; a grid control tube in said primary circuit; a moving picture projector including a traveling moving picture lm; an operating circuit for said projector; means operable by said secondary circuit for controlling said operating circuit; and means on said lm for unbalancing and thereby actuating said tube to actuate said primary circuit to actuate said switch to actuate said secondary circuit.
ll. The combination specied in claim 1() in which the unbalancing of the grid is eieoted b grounding the same. y
12. A primary control circuit including a switch operating magnet; a secondary control circuit including a switch operable by said magnet and also a second switch operating magnet; a double switch operable by said second magnet; an operating circuit operable by said double switch; a iirst mechanism connected for operation by said operating circuit; a branch circuit including said double switch and leading from said secondary control circuit at a pointV to cause, when closed, excitation of said secondary magnet; a magnet in said branch circuit; a second operating circuit including a switch'operable by said last mentioned magnet; a. second mechanismconnected for operation by said second operating circuit; and means for closingsaid primary control circuit.
13. The combination specified in claim 12, in which the first mechanism includes a traveling member operated on and caused to travel thereby and the means for closing the primary control circuit is carried by said traveling member.
14. The combination specied in claim 12 in which the rst mechanism includes a traveling member operated on and caused to travel thereby, the primary circuit includes a grid glow tube and the means for closing the primary control circuit is carried by the traveling-member and arranged to unbalance said tube.

The combination specied in claim. l2 in which the first mechanism includes a traveling member operated on and caused to travel thereby, the primary circuit includes a grid glow tube and the means for closing the primary control circuit is carried by the traveling member and arranged to unbalance said tube by grounding the same.
