Abstract
A hammer for physical exercise is disclosed to include a ball, which has two inflatable inner tubes surrounded by a spherical outer shell and a rigid center tube fixedly fastened to the spherical outer shell, and an operating cord member fixedly fastened to the center tube of the ball for operation with the hands to swing the ball so as to exercise the muscles of the hands and the waist.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates a hammer for physical exercises and more particularly to such a hammer that is practical for exercising the muscles of the hands and the waist and practicing the skill of keeping the body in balance.
- 2. Description of the Related Art
- A conventional hammer for physical exercises comprises a ball, a handle, and a connecting wire connected between the ball and the handle. The ball is stuffed with metal weights, ferrous sands, water or any of a variety of heavy substances to increase the weight. This ball does not rebound when hit a wall. Further, the center of the gravity of the ball may be not at the true center of the ball. It is dangerous to play with a hammer of this design.
- The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is one object of the present invention to provide a hammer, which is practical for exercising the muscles of the hands and the waist. It is another object of the present invention to provide a hammer, which is practical and safe in use for exercising the skill of keeping the body in balance. To achieve these and other objects of the present invention, the hammer comprises ball, which comprises a spherical outer shell, two inflatable inner tubes mounted inside the spherical outer shell, and a rigid center tube fixedly fastened to the spherical outer shell, and an operating cord member fixedly fastened to the center tube of the ball for operation with the hands to swing the ball or to hit the ball against a wall.

FIG. 5 is a schematic drawing showing another example of use of the hammer according to the present invention. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , aball 10 for hammer in accordance with the present invention is shown comprising a sphericalouter shell 13, two inflatableinner tubes outer shell 13, arigid center tube 14 fixedly fastened to the sphericalouter shell 13 at the center, and anair valve 12 extending from oneinner tube 11′ to the periphery of the sphericalouter shell 13. Through theair valve 12, aninner tube 11′ is inflatable with forced air. According to this embodiment, thecenter tube 14 is a ferrous tube formed integral with the sphericalouter shell 13 upon vulcanization of the sphericalouter shell 13. - The spherical
outer shell 13 has a predetermined thickness and weight so that theball 10 can be made in, for example, 2 KG, 4 KG, or 10 KG. - An
operating cord member 20 is inserted through thecenter tube 14 of theball 10, and made to have afirst knot 21 stopped at one end of thecenter tube 14 and asecond knot 21′ stopped at the other end of thecenter tube 14. After connection of theoperating cord member 20 to thecenter tube 14, theball 10 forms with theoperating cord member 20 the designed hammer. - When in use, the user can hold one end of the
operating cord member 20 to swing theball 10 over the head (seeFIG. 4 ), or to hit theball 10 against the wall (seeFIG. 5 ), thereby exercising the muscles of the hands and the waist, and training the skill to keep the body in balance. - Although a particular embodiment of the invention has been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention.
Claims (3)
1. A hammer comprising:
a ball, said ball comprising a spherical outer shell, two inflatable inner tubes mounted inside said spherical outer shell, and a rigid center tube fixedly fastened to said spherical outer shell; and
an operating cord member inserted through said rigid center tube, said operating cord member having a first knot stopped at one end of said rigid center tube and a second knot stopped outside an opposite end of said rigid center tube.
2. The hammer as claimed in claim 1 , wherein one of said inflatable inner tubes has an air valve extended to the periphery of said spherical outer shell.
3. The hammer as claimed in claim 1 , wherein said rigid center tube is a ferrous tube.
