Abstract

A chair of a racing car includes a main body, and a strengthening support member used for strengthening the main body; liquid fiberglass is applied on the main body and over the strengthening member such that the strengthening member will be secured on the main body after the liquid fiberglass solidifies; instead of using liquid fiberglass to secure the strengthening member in position, both the strengthening member and the main body have holes thereon, and the strengthening member is secured on the main body by means of threaded elements, which are passed through the holes.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a barrel shaped chair of a racing car, more particularly one, which is structured in such a way that it is easy to secure a strengthening member to the main body thereof.
  • 2. Brief Description of the Prior Art
  • Chairs of racing cars should be so strong as to provide enough security to the drivers of the cars.
  • Referring to FIGS. 5 and 6, a conventional chair 4 of a racing car includes a back 41, a seat 42, and two strengthening members 43. Both of the back 41 and the seat 42 are made of fiberglass therefore they are light in weight. The strengthening members 43 are shaped in such a way as to substantially look like an U, and they are respectively held in the back 41 and the seat 42 to strengthen same.
  • However, the above car 4 has a disadvantage: in order for allowing the back 41 and the seat 42 to hold the strengthening members 43 therein, they must include two parts respectively, between which the strengthening members 43 are sandwiched.
  • Therefore, it will take relatively complicated processes, and cost more money to manufacture such chairs. Consequently, such chairs aren't competitive.
  • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • It is a main object of the invention to provide an improvement on a chair of a racing car to overcome the above disadvantage.
  • The chair of the present invention includes a main body, and a strengthening support member. Liquid fiberglass is applied on the main body and over the strengthening member such that the strengthening member will be secured on the main body after the liquid fiberglass solidifies. The strengthening member and the main body have screw holes thereon such that the strengthening member can be secured on the main body by means of threaded elements instead of fiberglass.

  • The present invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the first embodiment of a barrel shaped chair of a racing car according to the present invention (1),
  • FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the first embodiment (2),
  • FIG. 3 is a vertical section of the chair of the invention,
  • FIG. 4 is a perspective view of the second embodiment of a barrel shaped chair according to the present invention,
  • FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view of the conventional chair of a racing car, and
  • FIG. 6 is a vertical section of the conventional chair.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, a first embodiment of a barrel shaped chair of a racing car includes a main body 1, and two strengthening support members 2.
  • The main body 1 includes a back 11, and a seat 12. Each of the strengthening support members 2 includes a frame 21, several spaced apart strengthening support rods 22 secured to the frame 21, and several pairs of opposing screw holes 23 on two lateral portions thereof.
  • To assemble the chair, the strengthening support members 2 are positioned on the back 11 and the seat 12 respectively, and liquid fiberglass is applied over the back 11, the seat 12, and the strengthening support members 2. Thus, the strengthening support members 2 will be secured on the back 11 and the seat 12 respectively when the liquid fiberglass solidifies. Next, an adjustment mechanism 3 of the back 11 is secured on lateral sides of the main body 1 by means of threaded elements (not numbered), which are connected to the screw holes 23 of the strengthening support members 2; thus, the sitter can adjust the chair to a suitable position with the help of the adjustment mechanism 3.
  • Referring to FIG. 4, a second embodiment of a barrel shaped chair of a racing car includes a main body 1, and two strengthening support members 2.
  • The main body 1 includes a back 11, and a seat 12. Connecting units 13, each of which has a screw hole, are inserted in the back 11 and the seat 12, and fiberglass is applied between the connecting units 13 and the back 11 as well as between the connecting units 13 and the seat 12 such that the connecting units 13 is secured to the back 11 and the seat 12.
  • Each of the strengthening support members 2 includes a frame 21, several spaced apart strengthening support rods 22 secured to the frame 21, several pairs of opposing screw holes 23 on two lateral portions thereof, and several connecting protrusions 24, each of which has a hole; the connecting protrusions 24 are formed at such places that the holes thereof will be able to face respective ones of the screw holes of the connecting units 13 when the strengthening support members 2 are positioned on the back 11 and the seat 12 respectively.
  • To assemble the chair, the strengthening support members 2 are positioned on the back 11 and the seat 12 respectively, with the holes of the connecting protrusions 24 facing respective ones of the screw holes of the connecting units 13, and threaded elements 241 are passed through the holes and the screw holes such that the strengthening support members 2 are secured to the back 11 and the seat 12 respectively. Next, an adjustment mechanism 3 of the back 11 is secured on lateral sides of the main body 1 by means of threaded elements (not numbered), which are connected to the screw holes 23.
  • From the above description, it can be easily understood that the invention has an advantage: it will be easier and cost less money to manufacture the chairs of the invention than it will to manufacture the conventional ones described in Background, and the chairs will be more competitive.

Claims (6)

1. A barrel shaped chair of a racing car, comprising
a main body, and
a strengthening support member used for strengthening the main body; liquid fiberglass being applied on the main body and over the strengthening support member such that the strengthening support member will be secured on the main body after the liquid fiberglass solidifies.
2. The barrel shaped chair of a racing car as claimed in claim 1, wherein the strengthening support member includes a frame, and a plurality of strengthening support rods secured to the frame.
3. The barrel shaped chair of a racing car as claimed in claim 1, wherein the main body includes a back, and a seat while the strengthening support member has plural pairs of opposing screw holes on two lateral portions thereof; an adjustment mechanism of the back being secured on lateral sides of the main body by means of plural threaded elements, which are connected to the screw holes.
4. A barrel shaped chair of a racing car, comprising
a main body, the main body having a plurality of connecting units thereon; the connecting units being secured to the main body by means of fiberglass, which is formed around the connecting units; each of the connecting units having a screw hole; and
a strengthening support member on the main body for strengthening the main body; the strengthening support member having a plurality of connecting protrusions, each of which has a hole; the strengthening support member being secured to the main body by means of plural threaded elements, each of which is passed through a respective one of the holes of the connecting protrusions and a respective one of the screw holes of the connecting units.
5. The barrel shaped chair of a racing car as claimed in claim 4, wherein the strengthening support member includes a frame, and a plurality of strengthening support rods secured to the frame.
6. The barrel shaped chair of a racing car as claimed in claim 4, wherein the main body includes a back, and a seat while the strengthening support member has plural pairs of opposing screw holes on two lateral portions thereof; an adjustment mechanism of the back being secured on lateral sides of the main body by means of plural threaded elements, which are connected to the screw holes.
