Abstract

A process for producing at least one preselected article having at least one preselected scene imprinted thereon. The process comprises the steps of selecting at least one of a photograph and a painting having a desired scene disposed horizontally thereon then turning the photograph or painting substantially 90 degrees. Another step is determining if the resulting vertically disposed image is at least one of attractive and interesting enough to use on the at least one preselected article. Another step is placing an image, having the photograph or painting that was rotated in a previous step and determined to be at least one of attractive and interesting, on a preselected material to be used to produce the at least one preselected article and using the preselected material having the image placed thereon to produce such at least one preselected article.

Description

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS

This application is closely related to and claims benefit from U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 60/574,272 filed on May 25, 2004.

FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates, in general, to articles of clothing, such as shirts, and other articles and accessories such as neckties, tote bags etc. and, more particularly, the present invention relates to a process for producing such articles of clothing and accessories that have vertically oriented color photographs printed on the clothing and accessories.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

It is a common practice for manufacturers to decorate men's and women's clothing and accessories with printed designs or pictures. The pictures may be transferred from a photograph by means of a direct image transfer or some other process or it may even be hand painted. The pictures may be of a sport's hero, wildlife or any other desirable subject. Shirts, including sweatshirts, and neckties are two very common items that have been used for this type of image.
However, one drawback to the image transfer from a photograph is that most of the photographs present a figure or a feature that is presented in a horizontal orientation. In most instances this presents a problem, particularly for items such as neckties, in that the horizontal orientation allows only a small portion of the image to transfer. Thus, many photographs of beautiful scenes do not lend themselves to transfer to clothing or accessories.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a process for producing at least one preselected article having at least one preselected scene imprinted thereon. The process comprises the steps of selecting at least one photograph or painting having a desired scene disposed horizontally thereon then turning the photograph or painting substantially 90 degrees. Another step is determining if the resulting vertically disposed image is at least one of attractive and interesting enough to use on the at least one preselected article. Another step is placing an image, having the photograph or painting that was rotated in a previous step and determined to be at least one of attractive and interesting, on a preselected material to be used to produce the at least one preselected article and using the preselected material having the image placed thereon produce such at least one preselected article.
Another embodiment of the invention provides an article of clothing having at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene in a substantially vertically oriented direction imprinted thereon.
Yet, another embodiment of the invention provides an accessory having at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene in a substantially vertically oriented direction imprinted thereon.

OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

It is, therefore, one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a process whereby horizontally disposed photographs or paintings are vertically oriented on articles of clothing.
Another object of the present invention is to have horizontal photographs of golf courses vertically oriented on articles of clothing.
Yet, another object of the present invention is to have horizontal photographs of golf courses vertically oriented on accessories such as neckties.
Still, another object of the present invention is to have horizontal photographs of golf courses vertically oriented and transferred on articles of clothing or accessories by any known process.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a variety of horizontally disposed photographs of sports stadiums, landscapes, seascapes, nature's wonders, city skylines, scenic rivers, bridges, sporting events, national parks, and wildlife vertically oriented to provide a panoramic view on articles of clothing or accessories.
These and various other objects and advantages of this invention will become apparent after a full reading of the following detailed description, particularly, when read in conjunction with the attached drawings as described below and the appended claims.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PRESENTLY PREFERRED AND ALTERNATE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION

Prior to proceeding with the more detailed description of the present invention it should be noted that, for the sake of clarity, identical components which have identical functions have been designated by identical reference numerals throughout the several views illustrated in the drawings.
The present invention in the broadest sense provides a process that takes beautiful horizontal panoramic pictures or photographs and prints them on items in a vertical orientation, which creates an interesting and attractive format. The process is designed to produce at least one preselected article having at least one preselected scene imprinted thereon.
The process comprises the steps of selecting at least one photograph or painting having a desired scene disposed horizontally thereon then turning the photograph or painting substantially 90 degrees. Another step is determining if the resulting vertically disposed image is at least one of attractive and interesting enough to use on the at least one preselected article. Another step is placing an image, having the photograph or painting that was rotated in a previous step and determined to be at least one of attractive and interesting, on a preselected material to be used to produce the at least one preselected article and using said preselected material having the image placed thereon to produce such at least one preselected article.
The process further includes, prior to a previous step, the step of creating a desired effect the photograph or painting will exhibit on the at least one preselected article. The desired effect is created by cropping the photograph or painting.
The process further includes the step of using a color process for placing the image on such preselected material. Such preselected material is selected but not limited to a group consisting of silk, cotton, cotton-polyester blends, satin, acrylic, Dacron, lycra, cotton-lycra blends, nylon rayon, hemp, muslin, linen, canvas and various combinations thereof.
The color process is substantially a four-color process for placing the image on the preselected material.
The preselected article is selected from one of clothing and accessories. Such clothing would include, but again is not limited to, a group consisting of shirts, skirts, dresses, shorts, jackets, sweaters, jerseys, swim wear, vests, rain gear, underclothing and socks. The accessories would include but not limited to a group consisting of neckties, caps, hats, backpacks, purses, belts, tote bags and scarves.
The process further includes the step of selecting a photograph from at least one of scenes of golf courses, sports stadiums, landscapes, seascapes, nature's wonders, city skylines, scenic rivers, bridges, sporting events, national parks, and wildlife. Thus the perfect gift for a golfer might be a necktie or a shirt having his favorite golf hole in panoramic view or a sports fan might could have a tie with his college stadium depicted thereon.
There is an additional step in the process and that is prior to any of the previous described step the process would include the step of selecting a scene to be photographed and photographing such scene.
An alternate embodiment of the invention provides an article of clothing, generally designated 10, having at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene, generally designated 20, in a substantially vertically oriented direction 2 imprinted thereon. Such article of clothing is selected from the group consisting of shirts, skirts, dresses, shorts, jackets, sweaters, jerseys, swim wear, vests, rain gear, underclothing and socks.
It is within the scope of the invention that such article of clothing includes a plurality of scenes imprinted thereon. The scenes are selected, although not limited to, from the group consisting of scenes of golf courses, sports stadiums, landscapes, seascapes, nature's wonders, city skylines, scenic rivers, bridges, sporting events, national parks, and wildlife.
In yet another embodiment of the invention there is an accessory, generally designated 30, having at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene 20 in a substantially vertically oriented direction 2 imprinted thereon. The accessory is selected from the group, although not limited to, consisting of neckties, caps, hats, backpacks, purses, belts, tote bags and scarves. It is within the scope of the invention that Such accessory includes a plurality of scenes imprinted thereon.
Such accessory 30 having at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene 20 oriented in a substantially vertical direction 2 is selected from the group consisting of scenes of golf courses, sports stadiums, landscapes, seascapes, nature's wonders, city skylines, scenic rivers, bridges, sporting events, national parks, and wildlife.
While both the presently preferred and a number of alternative embodiments of the present invention have been described in detail above it should be understood that various other adaptations and modifications of the present invention can be envisioned by those persons who are skilled in the relevant art without departing from either the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

Claims

1. A process for producing at least one preselected article having at least one preselected scene imprinted thereon, said process comprises the steps of:

(a) selecting at least one of a photograph and a painting having a desired scene disposed horizontally thereon;

(b) turning said at least one of a photograph and a painting 90 degrees;

(c) determining if the resulting vertically disposed image after step (b) is at least one of attractive and interesting enough to use on said at least one preselected article;

(d) placing an image having said at least one of said photograph and said painting rotated in step (b) and determined to be at least one of attractive and interesting in step (c) on a preselected material to be used to produce said at least one preselected article; and

(e) using said preselected material having said image placed thereon in step (d) to produce said at least one preselected article.

2. The process, according to claim 1, wherein said process further includes prior to step (d) the step of creating a desired effect said at least one of said photograph and said painting will exhibit on said at least one preselected article.

3. The process, according to claim 2, wherein said desired effect is created by cropping said at least one of said photograph and said painting.

4. The process according to claim 1, wherein said process further includes the step of using a color process in step (d) for placing said image on said preselected material.

5. The process according to claim 4, wherein said color process is a four-color process for placing said image on said preselected material.

6. The process, according to claim 1, wherein said preselected material is selected from a group consisting of silk, cotton, cotton-polyester blends, satin, acrylic, Dacron, lycra, cotton-lycra blends, nylon rayon, hemp, muslin, linen, canvas and various combinations thereof.

7. The process, according to claim 1, wherein said preselected article is selected from one of clothing and accessories.

8. The process, according to claim 7, wherein said preselected article is selected from the clothing group consisting of shirts, skirts, dresses, shorts, jackets, sweaters, jerseys, swim wear, vests, rain gear, underclothing and socks.

9. The process, according to claim 7, wherein said preselected article is an accessory selected from the group consisting of neckties, caps, hats, backpacks, purses, belts, tote bags and scarves.

The process, according to claim 1, wherein said process further includes the step of selecting said at least one of said photograph and said painting from at least one of scenes of golf courses, sports stadiums, landscapes, seascapes, nature's wonders, city skylines, scenic rivers, bridges, sporting events, national parks, and wildlife.

11. The process, according to claim 1, wherein said process prior to step (a) further includes the step of selecting a scene to be photographed.

The process, according to claim 1, wherein said process in step (d) includes placing said image on said preselected material by one of direct image transfer, direct transfer printing, thermal transfer, thermal wax transfer, image screening, multiple screen printing, direct digital inkjet printing on fabrics, dye sublimation, dye diffusion, D2T printing, silk screen and multiple screen printing.

13. An article of clothing having at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene in a substantially vertically oriented direction imprinted thereon.

14. An article of clothing, according to claim 13, wherein said article of clothing is selected from the group consisting of shirts, skirts, dresses, shorts, jackets, sweaters, jerseys, swim wear, vests, rain gear, underclothing and socks.

15. An article of clothing, according to claim 13, wherein said article of clothing includes a plurality of scenes imprinted thereon.

16. An article of clothing, according to claim 13, wherein said at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene oriented in a substantially vertical direction is selected from the group consisting of scenes of golf courses, sports stadiums, landscapes, seascapes, nature's wonders, city skylines, scenic rivers, bridges, sporting events, national parks, and wildlife.

17. An accessory having at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene in a substantially vertically oriented direction imprinted thereon.

18. An accessory, according to claim 17, wherein said accessory is selected from the group consisting of neckties, caps, hats, backpacks, purses, belts, tote bags and scarves.

19. An accessory, according to claim 17, wherein said accessory includes a plurality of scenes imprinted thereon.

20. An accessory, according to claim 19, wherein said at least one preselected horizontally disposed scene oriented in a substantially vertical direction is selected from the group consisting of scenes of golf courses, sports stadiums, landscapes, seascapes, nature's wonders, city skylines, scenic rivers, bridges, sporting events, national parks, and wildlife.
