Description
- 1. Field of Invention
- The present invention is related to a collapsible closet.
- 2. Related Prior Art
- Referring to
FIG. 7 , aconventional closet 100 includes abottom board 110, twolateral planks 120, arear plank 130 and atop board 140. Thelateral planks 120 are installed on thebottom board 110. Therear plank 130 is installed on thebottom board 110 and connected with both of thelateral planks 120. Thetop board 140 is installed on thelateral planks 120 and therear plank 130. Thecloset 100 is not collapsible and hence occupies a large space during storage and transportation. - The present invention is therefore intended to obviate or at least alleviate the problem encountered in prior art.
- It is an objective of the present invention to provide a collapsible closet that can occupy only a small space during storage and transportation.
- According to the present invention, a collapsible closet includes a front frame, a rear frame and two foldable lateral plank assemblies through which the front frame is connected with the rear frame.
- Other objects, advantages, and novel features of the invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the attached drawings.
- The present invention will be described through detailed illustration of the preferred embodiment referring to the drawings.
-
FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a collapsible closet in a closed position according to the preferred embodiment of the present invention. -
FIG. 2 is a perspective partial view of the collapsible closet ofFIG. 1 in an open position. -
FIG. 3 is a perspective partial view of the collapsible closet ofFIG. 1 in a half collapsed position. -
FIG. 4 is a perspective partial view of the collapsible closet ofFIG. 1 in a completely collapsed position. -
FIG. 5 is an exploded view of the collapsible closet ofFIG. 4 . -
FIG. 6 is an enlarged exploded partial view of the collapsible closet ofFIG. 5 . -
FIG. 7 is an exploded view of a conventional closet. - Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 2 , a collapsible closet 1 includes a front frame and a rear frame. - The front frame includes two
front legs 10, afirst crossbar 11, asecond crossbar 12 and athird crossbar 13. Thefront legs 10 can stand on the ground. Thefront legs 10 are connected with each other by means of thecrossbars - The rear frame includes two
rear legs 20 that can stand on the ground. - Two
doors 40 are attached to the front frame between thefirst crossbar 11 and thesecond crossbar 12. Each of thedoors 40 is pivotally connected with one of thefront legs 10. - Two
doors 50 are attached to the front frame between thesecond crossbar 12 and thethird crossbar 13. Each of thedoors 50 is pivotally connected with one of thefront legs 10. - A
rear plank 60 is attached to the rear frame. - The collapsible closet 1 includes two foldable lateral plank assemblies 30 through which the front frame is connected with the rear frame. Each of the foldable
lateral plank assemblies 30 includes twolateral planks 31 connected with each other. In each foldablelateral plank assembly 30, onelateral plank 31 is pivotally connected with one of thefront legs 11 by means of threehinges 90 and the otherlateral plank 31 is pivotally connected with one of therear legs 20 by means of threehinges 90. - A
top board 70 can be mounted on the front frame, the rear frame and the foldable lateral plank assemblies 30. -
Several boards 80 are installed in the collapsible closet 1. - Referring to
FIGS. 3 and 4 , thetop board 70 and theboards 80 are removed from the collapsible closet 1. Thus, the foldablelateral plank assemblies 30 can be folded. That is, the collapsible closet 1 can be collapsed. As collapsed, the collapsible closet 1 occupies a small space. - Referring to
FIGS. 5 and 6 , threehallow cavities 22 are defined in each of therear legs 20 for receiving thehinges 90. In the bottom of eachshallow cavity 22, adeep cavity 24 and twoholes 26 are defined. Thedeep cavity 24 is located between theholes 26. - Three
shallow cavities 32 are defined in an edge of each of thelateral planks 31 for receiving thehinges 90. In the bottom of eachshallow cavity 32, adeep cavity 34 and twoholes 36 are defined. Thedeep cavity 34 is located between theholes 36. - For convenience, only one
exemplary hinge 90,rear leg 20 andlateral plank 31 will be described in detail referring toFIG. 6 . - The
hinge 90 includes twomembers 91 and several strips 96 for connecting themembers 21 with each other. How themembers 91 are connected with each other by means of the strips 96 will not be described in detail for being conventional. Eachmember 91 includes aplate 92 and astem 94 extending from theplate 92. Theplate 92 defines twoapertures 93 corresponding to theholes stem 91 defines a recess for receiving thestrips 26. - In assembly, the
stem 94 of first one of the members 91 (“first member”) is fit in thedeep cavity 24 and theplate 92 of thefirst member 91 is fit in theshallow cavity 22. As embedded in therear leg 20, thefirst member 91 will not hurt any person while working with the collapsible closet 1. Abolt 23 is driven into eachhole 26 through onehole 93 of thefirst member 91. Thus, thefirst member 91 is attached to therear leg 20. Thestem 94 of second one of the members 91 (“second member”) is fit in thedeep cavity 34 and theplate 92 of thesecond member 91 is fit in theshallow cavity 32. As embedded in therear leg 20, thesecond member 91 will not hurt any person while working with the collapsible closet 1. Abolt 23 is driven into eachhole 36 through onehole 93 of thesecond member 91. Thus, thesecond member 91 is attached to the edge of thelateral plank 31. - The hinges 90 used to connect one
lateral plank 31 with the otherlateral plank 31 in eachfoldable plank assembly 30 are preferably hinges made available with item nos. 20572, 20573, 20574, 21571 and 21527 by Four Winds Corporation based on 12th Floor, No. 176, Section 1, Keelung Road, Taipei, Taiwan.
