Description
- The present invention relates to a suction device having a magnet, and more particularly to a suction device having a magnet, which has a magnet contained in a suction device body made from rubber, so that it can be attached even to wood, cement wall surfaces, and so forth, to which a conventional suction device cannot be attached, thereby remarkably increasing the range of objects to which the suction device can be attached.
- In general, a suction device has a conical body made from rubber. When the suction device is attached by suction to a surface of an object such as glass, the suction device is located in contact with the surface of the object and force is then applied inward upon the suction device, that is, directly downward toward the object surface from the apex portion of the cone. Then, a base portion of the flexible conical body made from rubber is compressed toward the surface of the object, while a vacuum is formed between the suction device and the surface of the object. Therefore, the suction device having the construction described above provides adhesive force to a surface of glass or car window, a smooth surface of a tile, or the like, even without a separate adhesive agent, thereby enabling a small toy, a blind for a car window, or the like, to be hung on a surface of a mirror, car window, or the like.
- However, the conventional suction device as described above can provide adhesive force only for a smooth surface, so that its usable range is inevitably restrictive. Further, the conventional suction device may easily slide down or may be easily separated from a surface of an object by impact, deformation, change of moisture or temperature, or the like. Moreover, the conventional suction device has a relatively small suction force capable of holding up only a light load.
- Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above-mentioned problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a suction device having a magnet, which has a conical suction device body having a magnet contained in an apex portion of the suction device body, so that the suction device can provide not only a vacuum suction force but also a magnetic force by the magnet contained in the apex portion, that is, the suction device can provide an increased holding force toward an object to which the suction device is attached.
- It is an object of the present invention to provide a suction device having a magnet, which increases the range of objects to which the suction device can be attached, even to include wood, cement wall surfaces, and so forth, and which is prevented from easily sliding down or being easily separated from the surface of an object by impact, deformation, change of moisture or temperature, or the like.

- The suction device may further comprise a magnetic member disposed inside of the suction device body, the magnetic member having a shape of a net, sizes of meshes of which increase in radial directions from the apex portion, the magnetic member being electrically connected with the magnet.
- According to another aspect of the present invention, there is provided a suction device having a magnet, comprising: first and second suction device bodies made from soft rubber, the first suction device body including a first apex portion and a first base portion, the second suction device body including a second apex portion and a second base portion, the first and second apex portions being integrally connected with each other through a connecting portion, each of the first and second suction device bodies having a conical shape, the first and second base portions being oriented in opposite directions to each other, each of the first and second suction device bodies providing a suction force after they are elastically compressed against an object; and first and second magnets inserted in the first and second apex portions of the first and second suction device bodies, respectively, each of the first and second magnets having a magnetic force of a predetermined gauss.
- It is preferred that the magnet has two poles of N and S divided in one body and the magnetic member is made from electro-conductive paint. Also, the suction device may further comprise a release hook, one end of which is connected with the apex portion of the suction device body, and the other end of which is connected with the base portion of the suction device body, thereby enabling a user to easily release a suctioned state of the suction device body.
- A suction device having a magnet according to the present invention has an increased suction force and an enlarged usable range.
- The foregoing and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings in which:
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a suction device according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention;
- FIG. 2 is a sectional view of the suction device, taken along line A-A′ in FIG. 1;
- FIG. 3 is a sectional view illustrating a suctioned state of the suction device shown in FIG. 1;
- FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a suction device according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention; and
- FIG. 5 is a view showing a construction of a magnet employed in a suction device according to the present invention.
- Reference will now be made in detail to the preferred embodiments of the present invention.
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a suction device according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 2 is a sectional view of the suction device, taken along line A-A′ in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 is a sectional view illustrating used state of the suction device shown in FIG. 1, and FIG. 5 is a view showing a construction of a magnet employed in a suction device according to the present invention.
- As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the suction device according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention has a conical
suction device body 100 made from soft rubber, which has a conical shape increasing in a radial direction from anapex portion 110 to abase portion 120. When thesuction device body 100 is located in contact with a surface of an object and force is applied to theapex portion 110 directly downward from theapex portion 110, thesuction device body 100 made from rubber is compressed onto the surface of the object, so as to form a vacuum between thesuction device body 100 and the surface of the object, thereby providing a holding force for the surface of the object. - A
magnet 130 having a magnetic force of a predetermined gauss is inserted in theapex portion 110 of the conicalsuction device body 100. Themagnet 130 inserted in theapex portion 110 may have two poles of N and S divided in one body, thereby maximizing a suction force of thesuction device body 100 utilizing magnetism. - Further, a
magnetic member 140 is electrically connected with themagnet 130. Themagnetic member 140 is disposed inside of thesuction device body 100 and has a shape of a net spreading in radial directions from theapex portion 110 to thebase portion 120 of thesuction device body 100, that is, the net having meshes, sizes of which increases in radial directions from theapex portion 110 to thebase portion 120. Themagnetic member 140 may be formed by applying paint containing conductive material and may include a conductive member attached to the inner surface of thesuction device body 100, such as a flexible iron wire. - The suction device according to the present embodiment further includes a
release hook 150 for enabling a user to easily release a suctioned state of thesuction device body 100. Therelease hook 150 is wound like a hook to form a hollow space inside thereof. One end of therelease hook 150 is connected with theapex portion 110 of thesuction device body 100, while the other end of therelease hook 150 is connected with thebase portion 120 of thesuction device body 100. Therefore, in a state where the suction device has been attached by suction to a surface of an object, when a user pulls therelease hook 150 with a slight force, thebase portion 120 is pulled up and detached from the surface of the object, so that the entire suction device can be easily detached from the suctioned surface of the object. - FIG. 4 is a perspective view of a suction device according to another preferred embodiment of the present invention.
- The suction device shown in FIG. 4 includes first and second suction device bodies100A and 100B, and first and
second magnets first apex portion 110A and afirst base portion 120A, and the second suction device body 100B includes asecond apex portion 110B and asecond base portion 120B. Thefirst apex portion 110A and thesecond apex portion 110B are integrally connected with each other through a connectingportion 101. Thefirst base portion 120A and thesecond base portion 120B are oriented in opposite directions to each other. Each of thefirst base portion 120A and thesecond base portion 120B has an area increasing in a radially outward direction from the connectingportion 101, so that each of the first suction device body 101A and the second suction device body 100B has a conical shape. Thefirst magnet 130A and thesecond magnet 130B are disposed in thefirst apex portion 110A and thesecond apex portion 110B of the first suction device body 101A and the second suction device body 100B, respectively. - The suction device shown in FIG. 4 is useful in holding two bodies spaced from each other, such as two spaced steel plates, since each of the first suction device body100A and the second suction device body 100B can provide a separate suction force.
- In order to attach the suction device according to the present invention, which has the construction described above, to a rough surface such as a surface of wood or cement wall, a
steel plate 200 which attracts a magnet is attached to the rough surface such as a surface of wood or cement wall by means of an adhesive agent. Then, the suction device according to the present invention is pressed onto thesteel plate 200, so that the suction device made from rubber is compressed and thereby forms a vacuum between the suction device and thesteel plate 200, thereby providing a suction force, while attraction is applied between thesteel plate 200 and themagnet 130 inserted in the apex portion. As a result, the suction device according to the present invention can provide an increased holding force. - Further, the suction device shown in FIG. 4 is useful in connecting two spaced members such as two spaced steel plates. That is, in the suction device shown in FIG. 4, the
first apex portion 110A and thesecond apex portion 110B are integrated with each other through the connectingportion 101, and thefirst base portion 120A and thesecond base portion 120B are oriented in opposite directions to each other from the connectingportion 101 containing thefirst base portion 120A and thesecond base portion 120B, so that the suction device can simultaneously provide two holding forces in opposite directions. - When the
release hook 150 connected to an outer surface of theapex portion 110 is pulled upward, thebase portion 120 of the conicalsuction device body 100 can be easily detached from a surface of an object. Therefore, therelease hook 150 can be effectively used in releasing the attached state of the suction device from the suctioned surface of the object. - Industrial Applicability
- As can be seen from the foregoing, a suction device according to the present invention has a conical suction device body having a magnet contained in an apex portion of the suction device body, so that the suction device can provide not only a suction force but also a magnetic force by the magnet contained in the apex portion, that is, the suction device can provide an increased holding force for an object to which the suction device is attached. Moreover, the suction device according to the present invention increases the range of objects to which the suction device can be attached, for example, the suction device can be attached even to wood, cement wall surface, etc. In addition, the suction device according to the present invention is prevented from easily sliding down or being easily separated from the surface of the object by impact, deformation, change of moisture or temperature, or the like.
- While this invention has been described in connection with what are presently considered to be the most practical and preferred embodiments, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the disclosed embodiments and the drawings, but, on the contrary, it is intended to cover various modifications and variations within the spirit and scope of the appended claims.
