  • The thermal stability test of the present grenade was performed on Dec. 22, 2000 by Yeng Ta Toy Fireworks Company. The test showed that the material did not ignite, explode, or undergo significant decomposition during heating at 75 degree C. (167 degree F.) for 24 hours. This is to certify that the present grenade for which approval is requested conforms to APA standard 87-1 and the description and technical information contained in this application are complete and accurate. [0042]
  • In use, the pulling [0043] ring 7 is pulled downwardly from the bottom of the lower cardboard tube 2, the pulling thread 63 is moved and frictionally engaged or is in contact with friction composition 621 one another, thereby the friction composition (charge) 621 is ignited. Then the quick fuse 65 in the friction ignition means 6 is also ignited in about 2 to 3 seconds. In that time, the ignited friction composition 621 and quick fuse 65 produce a few white smoke (fog) and provide a detonation sound of about 30 db for a short period time which lasts about six to ten seconds after ignition. At this time, the toy hand grenade must be thrown immediately away to open space beyond 10 meters after the above white smoke is seen. Further, the ignition composition (charge) 622 coated on the safety fuse 64 is ignited by burning of the quick fuse 65. The safety fuse 64, in turn, ignites the smoke composition or smoke agent 3 to release a great quantity of smoke, and the emitting charge 4 acts to generate a great quantity of gases. The gases may destroy the structural shape of the upper cardboard tube 1 and blow out or set off massive color powder 5, giving out a detonation sound of about 60 db.
  • FIG. 3 shows another embodiment of the present invention and illustrates an example of differently shaped outer layer. Of course, the grenade body may be formed in any practical shape such as spherical, cylindrical, stepped cylindrical, or ovoid, i.e., egg-shaped. Preferably, the grenade body is shaped and balanced similar to the actual weapon. It is intended to simulate especially for military training purposes. [0044]
  • The [0045] grenade body 21 is preferably formed of a high strength and durability plastic material. It may be formed in halves (not shown), for more convenient manufacture and access to the interior, and assembled by suitable fasteners (not shown). The grenade body 21 has a cavity wherein a cardboard tube 11 is inserted. The cardboard tube 11 sealed by clay 23 and 24 to form a chamber between both. Pyrotechnic composition 26 is placed in the chamber. A fuse 25 is centrally embedded in pyrotechnic composition 26 from the above end and then the fuse extends to a release lever 27 attached to the grenade body 21 by means of the general methods, for example, adhering. A friction ignition means 28 is disposed inside the release lever 27.
  • When the toy hand grenade is to be used, it is held with the hand and the pulling [0046] thread 29 is pulled downwardly so that friction composition 30 is frictionally engaged, thereby it is ignited and simultaneously a detonation about 30 db is given out. Then, the fuse 25 is also ignited.
  • In that time, a few white smoke is produced and the toy hand grenade has to be immediately thrown at an open space beyond 10 meters. After about 3 to 9 seconds. [0047] Pyrotechnic composition 26 and a cover paper 31 are also ignited by burning of the fuse 25 and a great quantity of smoke is released.
  • There are many changes and modifications which can be made to applicant's single push button type storage case which would be obvious to one of ordinary skill in the art, and which are included in the scope of applicant's invention. It is intended that applicant's invention be limited only by the scope of the claims appended hereto. [0048]

Claims (5)

We claim:
1, A toy hand grenade, comprising
a cardboard tube sealed by first and second clay in both ends to form a chamber;
pyrotechnic compositions including a smoke agent, an emitting charge and a color powder being placed in the chamber of the cardboard tube;
a means for friction and ignition;
characterized in that said means for friction and ignition includes a mean for friction on which a friction composition is covered, and a means for ignition on which an ignition composition is covered, which is kept the means for friction at some distance and is above the means for friction; a quick fuse, one end of which is in contact with the friction composition and another one is connected to a pulling thread; and a safety fuse, one end of which is in contact with pyrotechnic composition and another one is in contact with the ignition composition, thereby when a pulling ring connected to the pulling thread is pulled downwardly, the means for friction is frictionally moved against one another so that the friction composition is ignited, by which the quick fuse and the safety fuse are also ignited in an orderly way, finally, pyrotechnic composition is burned upon ignition to release a great quantity of smoke.
2, A toy hand grenade according to claim 1, wherein said friction composition consists of 30 parts by weight of potassium perchlorate, 30 parts by weight of magnalium, 20 parts by weight of sulphur and 20 parts by weight of copper oxide.
3. A toy hand grenade according to claim 1, wherein said friction composition consists of 20 weight percent of phosphorus and 80 weight percent of potassium chlorate.
4, A toy hand grenade according to claim 1, wherein said friction composition consists of 75 weight percent of lead oxide and 25 weight percent of silicon.
5, A toy hand grenade according to claim 1, wherein said ignition composition consists of 75 weight percent of potassium nitrate, 10 weight percent of sulphur and 15 weight percent of carbon.
