Abstract
An extruded section which preferably serves the production of a frame or of an edge for parts of furniture such as doors or drawers is provided with at least two webs which bound the side flanks of a groove. To give the extruded section an appealing and aesthetic appearance and to protect it against contamination, the webs are provided with supports or holding devices for a cover rail covering the groove.
Description
- The invention relates to an extruded section having at least two webs which bound the side flanks of a groove, preferably for the production of a frame or of an edge for parts of furniture such as doors or drawers.
- Extruded sections of this kind are frequently used to bound and to protect edges of plate-like components. An extruded section is known, for example, from the German utility model G 201 07 535.3 which is placed onto the edge of a side wall of a body part or whose sections are connected to form a frame enclosing a door or flap, with fittings, for example hinges, then being able to be secured to the extruded section. If an extruded section of the kind first mentioned has at least two webs, which can, for example, serve the securing of fittings, these can appear in an unattractive manner in particular with pieces of furniture or shelves, with dirt also being able to be deposited in the groove enclosed by the webs.
- It is therefore the object of the invention to provide an extruded section of the kind first mentioned which has an appealing, aesthetic appearance and is largely protected against contamination.
- This object is solved in accordance with the invention in that the webs are provided with supports or holding devices for a cover rail covering the groove.
- The cover rail covering the groove can be connected to the supports, for example, by adhesive or by holding devices which effect a form-locking or force-locking connection without adhesive.
- The cover rail provided in accordance with the invention does not only improve the appearance of the extruded profile and protect it against contamination, it can also form a constructive element, for example as an abutment for a sealing strip or a buffering abutment.
- The extruded section expediently consists of metal, for example, of aluminium or of an aluminium alloy.
- The webs bounding the groove can extend parallel to one another.
- The cover rail can consist of plastic or of metal, for example of aluminium or of an aluminium alloy.
- The cover rail can have a rectangular, angled or round section.
- In accordance with a preferred embodiment, provision is made for the webs to be provided with grooves or receiving grooves for spring-like latch or plug-in rails of the cover rails. The connection of the cover rail to the webs takes place in this manner by a groove and tongue connection.
- The cover rails are preferably held longitudinally displaceably in the receiving grooves such that they can be pushed toward the regions to be protected.
- The central planes of the receiving grooves expediently extend at an angle, for example at a right angle, to one another. In this way, the hold or latch connection can be improved. The spring-like latch or plug-in rails disposed in the region of the side edges of the cover rails are preferably inserted into the receiving grooves with an elastic deformation of the cover rails such that the force-locked connection is improved.
- An embodiment of the invention will be explained in the following with reference to the drawing. There are shown in this:
- FIG. 1 a cross-section through a frame spar of a frame enclosing a glass door which is formed by an extruded section, which is provided with a cover rail and which is connected to the side wall of a piece of furniture by a double link hinge;
- FIG. 2 the extruded section provided with a cover rail in accordance with FIG. 1 in a perspective view;
- FIGS.3 to 6 sections through cover rails with different profiles; and
- FIG. 7 a representation in accordance with FIG. 2 of an extruded section in which the groove formed between webs is covered by a cover rail with a shallow or rectangular profile.
- A section can be seen from FIG. 1 through an
extruded section 1 which forms a spar of a frame enclosing a glass door 2. This extrudedsection 1 forming a frame spar is connected in the manner described in German utility model 201 07 525.3 to thepivotal hinge part 3 which is connected to a hinge arm 4 by two links which is secured in a usual manner to the inside of acupboard wall 5. Reference is made to German utility model 201 07 525.3 with respect to the kind of securing of themovable hinge part 3 to the extrudedsection 1. - The
extruded section 1 has two limbs orwebs 7, 8 standing at right angles on the web part 6, of which the web 8 forms the inner wall of a box-shaped section part with a rectangular cross-section. The web 8 is provided at its upper end region with a receivinggroove 9 parallel to the section. Theweb 7 carries ashallow section part 10 which is parallel to the web part 6 and which is provided at its inner edge region with two receivinggrooves 11, 12 parallel to one another. - The
receiving grooves cover rails 13 to 16 visible from FIGS. 3 to 6. - The
cover rail 13 provided with an angle and thecover rail 14 curved in arc-like manner in profile have spring-like latch rails or plug-inrails 17 at their side edges or ends and these engage into thereceiving grooves - As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 7, the web8 is provided with a further receiving
groove 18 adjoining the upper side of a section projection 19 which is located at approximately the same level as theshallow section part 10. This receiving groove serves the reception of spring-like plug-inrails 17 which are arranged at the end faces of the holding rails 15, 16 consisting of flat strips. The cover rails 15, 16 are provided at their opposing end region with spring-like cover rails 17 which stand on these at a right angle and which latch into the receivinggrooves 11, 14, in dependence on the width of the cover rails of which thecover rail 16 is broader than thecover rail 15. - A good force locked holding of the spring-like plug-in
rails 17 of the cover rails 13 to 16 of the associated receiving grooves is improved in that these are at right angles to one another. - As can be seen from FIG. 1, the
shorter limb 20 of thecover rail 13 additionally takes on the function of a sealing rail which, when the door is shut, sealingly contacts therounded sealing profile 21 which is secured to the end face of thecupboard wall 5. Impact damping buffer elements can be provided in a corresponding manner instead of the sealingstrip 21.
