Description
L. S. BAUTISTA "NIDES" TWIN TOY Filed Jan.
MA 0 t n 8 U n I Patented May 28, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accom- 10 panying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views,
and in which:-
Fig. 1 is an elevation with parts in section.
Fig. 2 is a top plan View.
In this drawing, the numeral 1 indicates an elongated tubular member having a lateral hole 2 therein which communicated with the bore of the member. The numeral 3 indicates an elongated member which includes a pair of cylindrical enlargements 4, a stem 5 connecting the enlargements together, and a third cylindrical enlargement 6 which is connected with the outer end of one of the enlargements 4. The member 3 is placed in the tubular member with the parts 4 rotatably engaging the ends of the bore of the tubular member as shown in Fig. 1. The propeller is shown at I and has the cylindrical enlargements 8 at its ends which are connected together by a fiat stem 9, one face of the stem being recessed to receive a part of a portion 4 and these two parts are connected together by the nails I or other fastening means.
A string l l is suitably fastened to a part of the stem and passes through the hole 2 so that by rotating the member 3 by turning the part 6 or the propeller 1, the string can be partly wound upon the stem. Then by pulling upon the string, the member 3 and the propeller I will be rotated and the momentum of these parts will rewind the string upon the stem but in an opposite direction from the first one so that when the parts come to rest, the string can be pulled again to impart rotary movement to the p s 3 and 1 in an opposite direction.
If desired, two of the members can be used 5 with one end of the string attached to the rotary member 3 of one member and the other end of the string to the rotary member 3 of the other member. In this case, the ends of the string would be equally wound upon the two members and then by moving the two members in opposite directions, the string will impart rotary movement to the two rotary members of the two devices. When the two devices are used, they may be used by one player or by a pair of players and it will of course be understood that the device can be suitably colored to add to the attractiveness of the device.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A toy of the class described comprising an elongated tubular member having a hole in its intermediate part, a rotary member including a pair of cylindrical enlargements and a stem connecting the two enlargements together, the rotary member fitting in the tubular member with the enlargements located in and slightly projecting from the end parts of the tubular member, a string connected to the stem and passing through the hole, a propeller including a stem and enlargements at the end thereof, means for connecting the central part of the last-mentioned stem to the projecting end of one of the enlargements of the rotary member and a cylindrical part connected to the projecting end of the other enlargement of the rotary member.
