Abstract
A curved temporary display wall consisting of vertical structural members and a curved rail used both as a base and a top rail holding the structural members from which a cornice bracket assembly allowing graphics to be displayed offset from the curved display wall is attached at any height along the vertical length of the structural members.
Description
- This invention is in the field of wall structures, specifically temporary display wall structures. Previously, temporary display walls were flat and composed of many dissimilar components. The invention solves these problems.
- A curved temporary display wall consisting of a reduced number of unique components. A curved base/top rail holds vertical supports from which a panel or display graphic may be attached at various levels along the length of the vertical support piece. A cornice bracket assembly that attaches to the vertical supports anywhere along their length allows hanging of panels or display graphics offset at a variable distance from the wall. The various components are designed to be inexpensive to manufacture, lightweight, quick to assemble/disassemble, and easy to transport.

- The invention may be assembled in many configurations, examples of which are shown in FIGS. 11, 16,21, 30, 35, 45, 52 and associated schematic views of same. In these embodiments, all of the structural components are fabricated from 18 gauge cold rolled steel. Surface finishes of the components may be, for example: painted, galvanized, anodized, chrome or zinc plating.
- The top-bottom rail is constructed from a
planar base member 1 as shown in FIG. 1, combined with left and right “L” shapedflanges 2 to form arail 3, as shown in FIG. 2, which is used upon both the top and bottom surfaces. For long walls, top-bottom rails 3 may be joined to each other by aconnection plate 4. Shortened top-bottom rail pieces 12 andcorner rail pieces 7 allow custom sizing and clean corner edges. - The
vertical members 5, as shown in FIGS. 3, 4, and 5, are formed in a “Z” configuration having slots along their front face. The “Z” configuration is formed from a single piece of flat material, substantially increasing the materials structural rigidity. As shown in FIGS. 12, 13, 17, 18, 22, 23, 31 and 32,vertical members 5 are inserted into the bottom and top rails and fixed with screws or bolts. Corner flashing 6 creates a flush corner surface. -
Cornice bracket assemblies 20, shown in FIGS. 6, 7 and 8, may be used to hang the panels ordisplay graphics 11 offset from the curved wall structure. The cornice bracket has a base 21 which has hooks that mate with the slots in the vertical members. For additional support, a stabilizingbracket 22 may be used between thevertical member 5 and the cornice bracket. Connected to the cornice bracket is a pair ofchannels pivot bracket 25 and a clinch plate 26. Thepivot bracket 25 is attached to thetelescoping channel 24, having a flat surface for attaching panels ordisplay graphics 11 thereto. Thecornice bracket assembly 20 may be placed at any height along thevertical structure members 5. To provide structural stability along or at either end of the curved display wall, cornice brackets attaching the curved wall to a permanent wall may be used. - Curved and straight rail base pieces may be used to create outward, flat, or inward curving walls of any combination. The invention may also be used to create a flat wall anchored to an existing curved surface. Complex wall designs may include attaching
rectangular structures 9 and/orarchways 10 in a seamless manner. The size of the curve radius may be varied as well as the overall height of thevertical members 5. To minimize permanent damages to the installation area, the base rails 3 may be mounted on adummy flooring material 8, for example, plywood. - The patent invention is entitled to a range of equivalents and is to be limited in scope only by the following claims.
Claims (10)
1) A curved temporary display wall comprising:
vertical structural members having a front face, top and bottom ends, curved top and bottom rails;
said vertical structural members removably connected at top and bottom ends to said curved top and bottom rails.
2) The curved temporary display wall of claim 1 further including:
cornice bracket assemblies having a base and an outer end;
said cornice bracket base attached to said vertical structural member along its length, display graphics are attachable to said outer end of said cornice bracket assembly.
3) The curved temporary display wall of claim 2 wherein:
said vertical structural members have slots along said front face for receiving at least one hook on the base of said cornice bracket assemblies.
4) The curved temporary display wall of claim 2 wherein:
said cornice bracket assembly further comprises an inner and an outer telescoping channel disposed between said base and said outer end.
5) The curved temporary display wall of claim 1 wherein:
said top and bottom rails are configured to create a concave curved temporary display wall.
6) The curved temporary display wall of claim 1 wherein:
said top and bottom rails are configured to create a convex curved temporary display wall.
7) The curved temporary display wall of claim 1 further comprising at least one stabilizing offset attached at an end of said curved temporary display wall to increase lateral stability of said curved temporary display wall.
8) The curved temporary display wall of claim 1 wherein:
said vertical structural members have a substantially z shaped cross section.
9) The curved temporary display wall of claim 1 further comprising at least one corner flashing extending between said top and bottom rails, said corner flashing creating a flush corner surface.
10) The curved temporary display wall of claim 2 wherein:
A first part of the curved temporary display wall has display graphics attached to said outer end of said cornice bracket assemblies; and
a second part of the curved temporary display wall has display graphics attached to said vertical structural members;
said first and second parts arranged and configured so that said display graphics are aligned to present a common contiguous curved surface.
