Description

NLR. HELIKER. Reciprocating Churn-Dasher.
WITNESSES v INVENTORI BY ATTORNEYS.
, specification:
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MARTIN R. HELIKER, OF W'AUSEON, 01110..
IMPROVEMENT IN RECIPROCATING CI -IURN-DASI- IERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 200,194, dated'February 12, 1878; application filed January 4, 1878. p
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MARTIN It. HELIKER, of Wauseon, county of Fulton, and State of Ohio, have invented a new and Improved Ohurn-Dasher, of which the following is a Figure l is a side elevation of my improved churn-dasher. Fig. 2 is a plan view.
Similar lettersof reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of my invention is to provide a churn-dasher which will thoroughly agitate and break up the cream, and which at the same time is so simple and plain in its construction as to be easily and cheaply made and easily cleaned.
Referring to the drawing, A is the .dasherrod, to which are attached two sets, a b, of bifurcated arms, which are arranged a short distance apart. These arms project radially from the dasher-rod, and are arranged in relation to each other so that the arms in the upper set are above thespaces between the arms in the lower set. The two branches of each forked arm are inclined in'the same direction to a horizontal plane, theirv surfaces being parallel. The sides of alternate arms are inclined in opposite directions, so that the cream is thrown in different directions, and is thoroughly agitated and broken up by the action of the dasher.
To increase the effectiveness of the dasher, transverse holes 0 are made in the arms, which assist in breaking up the cream.
The advantages claimed for the improvement are, that the several parts of the dasher are permanently secured'together and fixed to the dasher-rod, so that there can be no wear from the movement of one part upon another; and there are no interstices for the accumulation of cream or butter, so that the dasher may be readily cleaned.
- Having thus fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A churn-dasher consisting of two sets of bifurcated apertured arms, arranged as shown, and having inclined sides, the sides of alternate arms being inclined in opposite directions, substantially as herein shown and described.
MARTIN R. HELIKER.
