  • This invention relates to weft replenishing looms such as are provided with means for automatically inserting a transferable bobbin member into the shuttle upon the practical exhaustion of the filling carried by a used bobbin, and more particularly to an improved combination of means ina loom of this character for insuring proper and adequate tension on the weft thread at all times and adapting the tension means for transfer with the bobbin in such a manner as to render the tension means uniformly effective during all parts of the weaving operation.
  • One object of the present invention is the provision of a loom structure of the character described organized to enable a filled transferable bobbin to be supplied to the shuttle in such a manner that the weft end is subjected to constant and uniform tension immediately upon its insertion within the shuttle and thereby rendered effective for use under tension on the first pick after transfer, thus eliminating anypossibility of imperfection in the weave due either to the lack of appropriate tension or failure to thread properly.

Claims.
This invention relates to weft replenishing looms such as are provided with means for automatically inserting a transferable bobbin member into the shuttle upon the practical exhaustion of the filling carried by a used bobbin, and more particularly to an improved combination of means ina loom of this character for insuring proper and adequate tension on the weft thread at all times and adapting the tension means for transfer with the bobbin in such a manner as to render the tension means uniformly effective during all parts of the weaving operation.
In the use of weft replenishing looms as heretofore organized and employed with transferable bobbins, the bobbin alone has been subject to transfer to the shuttle upon the exhaustion or practical exhaustion of a filling, and suitable tensioning of the weft thread after transfer has been dependent upon the chance of the inserted weft end being thrown promptly into its operative relation with the shuttle eye. Proper positioning of the weft end in the shuttle eye after transfer frequently fails of accomplishment, and even when successfully achieved the newly added weft end is seldom if ever given the degree of tension to which it is or should be normally subjected until the second or third pick after transfer. This failure or partial failure to tension the thread properly on the first pick after transfer has resulted in imperfections in the woven fabric which have been particularly noticeable and especially objectionable in the formation of silk, rayon and light weight cotton fabrics.
One object of the present invention is the provision of a loom structure of the character described organized to enable a filled transferable bobbin to be supplied to the shuttle in such a manner that the weft end is subjected to constant and uniform tension immediately upon its insertion within the shuttle and thereby rendered effective for use under tension on the first pick after transfer, thus eliminating anypossibility of imperfection in the weave due either to the lack of appropriate tension or failure to thread properly.
Another object of the invention is the provision in a 10cm of this character of a shuttle member organized to receive a transferable bobbin and tension device in such a manner that automatic transfer of these instrumentalities may be effected substantially simultaneously and under conditions rendering them fully operative to perform their desired functions immediately after transfer and to a degree commensurate in every way with that which they are capable of affording in their normal operation.
A further object of the invention is the provision in a loom of this character of novel means for supporting the transferable bobbin and tension device in suitable relation with each other so as to eflect their transfer to the shuttle member while maintaining them in operative relation during the transfer operation and so positioning them within the shuttle body that they may be suitably received and retained by appropriate holding means in such a manner as to be immediately and fully operative for the purpose intended.
Another object of the invention is the provision of improved means for supporting and maintaining a tension member in operative relation with a transferable bobbin for transfer to a loom shuttle.
A further object of the invention is the provision of means for supporting and guiding a tension member in its path of travel to a loom shuttle under the impulse of a transfer member in order to position the tension member accurately within the shuttle.
Another object of the invention is the provision of suitable means for effecting the transfer of the transferable bobbin and tension device to the shuttle upon the exhaustion or practical exhaustion of a filling in such a manner that the transfer of these members is eflfectedsubstantially simultaneously and without displacement of the members from their normal cooperative relationship.
Other objects and advantages of the invention relate to various improved details of construction and novel arrangements of the parts as will be more fully set forth in the detailed description to follow.

In that form of the invention illustrated in Figs. 1, 3, 4:, 6, '7, 8 and 9 of the drawings there is shown a portion of a replenishable loom structure comprising a side frame portion l and a lay beam 2 together with an end plate or bracket member 3 provided with a stationary flanged end casing 41 for one of the carrier disks of the rotary magazine and carrying a sleeve 6 mounted upon a spindle 6 for rotatably supporting the spaced transferable bobbin disks l and 6 in appropriate position with reference to a shuttle box 6 mounted upon the lay beam 2.
A picker stick ill of the usual construction is provided with a picker l l mounted for movement in appropriate relationship with a shuttle. A thread end holder i2 is carried by the spindle as is usual in devices of this character to provide an anchorage for the free ends of the weft threads from the transferable bobbins when the weft carrier members are mounted in operative position and supported by the carrier disks 1! and 6. A transfer member M is pivotally mounted, as at it, upon the end plate 3 and is provided with a fork portion l6 adapted to engage the bobbin, and an extended end portion H, suitably positioned for contact with the tension member to effect substantially simultaneous transfer of the bobbin and tension member from the rotary disks l and 6 to the shuttle.
The transfer member M is provided with a depending arm l6 which is pivotally connected at iii to a trip 26, notched at its active face 20 to engage a dagger 22 on the lay beam upon indication of filling replenishment. Such indication may occur in any suitable manner, as upon substantial exhaustion or exhaustion to a predetermined extent of the filling. A combined stop and guide member 23 is suitably supported by a portion of the side frame of the loom and is so positioned as to serve as a stop for and to guide a transferable bobbin in its insertion within a shuttle'body 26 mounted in replenishing position within the plain end shuttle box 6 located p n QKYOQQQQ the lay beam 2. An inclined passage 21! is formed in the lay beam 2 and suitably positioned with reference to the shuttle body 26 for the passage of an ejected bobbin and tension device to a suitable receptacle (not shown) The type of loom shuttle shown herein is of conventional form in so far as it consists of the usual shuttlebody 26 provided with an opening 2% extending entirely therethrough to permit the automatic insertion of a transferable bobbin upon one side of the shuttle body and its automatic ejection from the other after a manner well known in devices of this character. The loom shuttle 26, as shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, is provided at opposite ends thereof with yielding holding jaws 66 having suitable grooves or depressions 3i formed upon their inner surfaces for receiving the usual circular ribs 62 carried by the base 33 of the transferable bobbin M, as well as for receiving similar ribs 35 carried by a separate tension device 36.
As shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, one form of the invention comprehends the use of a transferable bobbin (i l, the base 33 of which is engaged by one set of opposed holding jaws 36 after the usual manner, while the tension member 36 is mounted in separated relation with and spaced from the tip 36 of the bobbin spindle, and is similarly positioned within and held by the set of opposed holding jaws 60 located within the opposite end of the opening 26 formed in the shuttle body. The detailed construction and arrangement of the bobbin and tension device, as well as the specific form of construction and arrangement of the parts of the tension device are more particularly set forth in my copending application Serial No. 664,854, to which reference is made for a more detailed description thereof.
In the modified form of transferable bobbin and tension device, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, the shuttle body 26 is similar in all respects to that shown in Fig. 1, and is similarly provided with an opening 26 extending entirely therethrough to permit the automatic insertion and ejection of a transferable bobbin, as is well known in devices of this character. The shuttle is provided with a pair of opposed holding jaws 31 located adjacent to one end thereof, each of which has suitable grooves or recesses 36 formed in the inner faces thereof for receiving circular ribs 39 carried by the base portion 46 of the bobbin 4|. A circular rib or enlargement 42 is located upon the base portion d6 of the bobbin for engagement with suitable grooves 43 formed in the split resilient end portion M of a cylindrical shell 45, which is so formed as to fit over the spindle portion of the bobbin and have the split resilient portions 44 engage over the rib 42 for holding the shell in position upon the bobbin.
A tension device 46 is mounted within the opposite end portion of the shell 45 and may comprise tensioning members 4'! arranged in staggered relation for imparting tension to the weft end 46 carried by the bobbin. Aligned openings W and 66 are provided in the tension device 46 for the passage of the weft end from the bobbin to the tension device and from the tension device for incorporation into the fabric. A more detailed description and showing of the parts of the bobbin ti, shell 45, tension device 46 and tension member 52 is contained in my copending application Serial No. 664,854, to which reference is made.
In effecting the transfer of the transferable bobbin and tension device to and from the shuttle body with that form and arrangement of bobbin and associated tension device as shown in either Figs. 1 or 2 of the drawings,1 have provided certain novel means and arrangements of mechanism for supporting these members in replenishing position and for effecting their transfer to the shuttle body while maintained in suitable operative relation with each other to insure a proper functioning of the parts immediately after transfer and avoid any tendency which might be present for distortion or disarrangement of the bobbin and tension device either during the act of transfer or as they may be positioned within the shuttle body after transfer. To that end I have provided a bobbin carrier disk I of the usual character for receiving and supporting the base portion of the bobbin, and have provided in association therewith a novel form and arrangement of parts in the opposed disk 8 so as to provide means for suitably supporting the bobbin or transferable bobbin and its associated but separate tension device in such position as to insure the maintenance of the proper operative relationship therebetween, both. when mounted in the opposed disks, and also during theirtransfer to the shuttle, these parts being so arranged as to insure the proper engagement of the base portion of the transferable bobbin and the cylindrical portion of the tension member with the opposed gripping jaws carried by and located within the opposite ends of the shuttle body.
In constructing and arranging the parts of the rotary magazine mechanism for receiving and supporting a transferable bobbin and tension de vice of the form shown in either Fig. 1 or Fig. 2 of the drawings, the carrier disk I is provided upon one face with a plurality of peripheral notches 60, each of which is adapted to receive the base portion 33 of a weft carrier member 34 or the base portion 40 of a transferable bobbin 4! with equal facility.
In that form of the magazine mechanism adapted for use in connection with a transferable bobbin and tension device of a type similar to that shown in Fig. 1 of the drawings, the carrier disk 8 may be provided with a plurality of spaced holding members 62 angularly positioned with reference to the disk 8, and which may be formed integral with the disk 8 as shown herein, or secured thereto in any suitable or desired manner. Supporting plates 63 are carried by the spaced holding member 62, and may be secured thereto by screws 64 or other suitable fastening means. The supporting plates 63 may each be formed of sheet metal or other suitable material, and are so positioned when attached to the holding members 62 of the carrier disk as to each cooperate with the member next adjacent thereto to provide a chamber for the reception of one of the tension devices or members 36.
Each supporting plate 63 may comprise a portion 65 for attachment to one of the spaced holding members 62, which is provided with an opening 66 for the reception of a screw 64, and a laterally offset yieldable portion 61 provided with a surface depression 63 upon its outer face to form a recess for the reception of the tip 38 of one of the bobbins 34. The offset portion 61 may be provided with a slot 69 terminating adjacent to the depression 68 for receiving that portion of the weft thread located between the tip 38 of the bobbin and the tension device 36. Each supporting plate 63 may also be provided with a lug 10 adapted to fit within a recess H of the plate next adjacent thereto, in order to anchor the supporting plates firmly in position and retain them against angular movement relative to the holding members 62.
Each holding member 62 may be provided upon one side thereof with a curved face 12 formed on an arc of substantially equal radius with that of the path of movement of the end portion ll of the transfer member and has a portion of the opposite side cut away, as indicated at 13, to form a recess and expose a portion of the screw 64 which serves as a shaft bearing for a pivotally mounted guide member 14. The guide member I4 is provided upon one face with curved surfaces 15 and I6, and has a heel portion 11 adapted to engage a portion of the holding member 62 as it pivots about the shaft portion of the screw 64 to limit its movement in one direction. A coiled spring 18 is interposed between each guide member 14 and the holding member 62 by which it is supported to maintain the guide member in such position relative to the holding member next adjacent thereto as to receive readily a tension member 36 between the curved face 15 thereof and the-curved face 12 of the holding member, as well as to retain the tension member between the curved face 16 of the guide member and the curved face 12 of the holding member until discharged therefrom by movement of the end portion H of the transfer member. The disk 8 may be provided with a plurality of peripheral notches 19, each of which communicates with one of the chambers 80, formed by adjacent holding members 62 and one of the supporting plates 63, and is arranged in substantial alignment with the corresponding slot 69 formed in the supporting plate to provide a recess for the reception of the weft end leadingfrom the tension device 36 to the thread end holder I2.
When the supporting plates 63 are secured to the holding members 62 throughout the periphery of the disk 8, they each cooperate with a portion of the disk to provide a series of laterally closed chambers 60, each of which is located in axial alignment with one of the notches 60 formed in the carrier disk I. These chambers are located circumferentially of the carrier disk 8 and are open radially of the disk to permit the insertion therein and ejection therefrom of tension devices 36 in a direction radially of the carrier disk 8.
In filling the magazine, a plurality of transferable bobbins 34 are mounted therein so that the base 33 of each bobbin is fitted within one of the notches 60 and its tip 38 rests within the aligned depression 68 formed in the yieldable portion 61 of one of the supporting plates 63. The tension device 36 accompanying the bobbin 34, and in which the weft end carried by the bobbin 34 is threaded prior to the insertion of the bobbin into the magazine, is mounted in the chamber 80 which is in alignment with its bobbin in such a manner as to be engaged and releasably held between the curved face 16 of one of the guide members I4 and the curved face 12 of the adjacent holding member 62, after the manner shown in Figs. 6 and 7 of the drawings.
When the transferable bobbin 34 and its associated tension device 36, mounted in the magazine, reach the position for transfer, as indicated in ,Fig. 4 of the drawings, the transfer member I4 is actuated to cause the fork i6 and extended end portion IT to engage the bobbin 34 and tension device 36 and forcethem out of their resiliently held positions with reference to the carrier disks and into the shuttle 26, after the manner indicated in Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawings. The bobbin 34 and tension device 36 are moved into the shuttle 26 substantially simultaneously under the influence of the force exerted by the transfer fork l6 and extension I1, and that while main taining these parts in substantially their normal operative relationship with respect to each other, so that they enter the shuttle properly positioned for engagement with the gripping jaws located in opposite ends of the shuttle body and in position to become immediately operative for supplying the weft thread under suitable and appropriate tension to the weave. The curved face I5 of the guide member 14 and the curved face 12 of the adjacent holding member 62 serve to provide an arcuate path for the tension device which substantially coincides with the path of travel of the extension I! of the transfer member, whereby the tension device is properly guided into position in the shuttle 26.
In that form of magazine and transfer mechanism shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings, the carrier disk I, sleeve 5, spindle 6 and other cooperating and associated parts are similar in all respects to those shown in Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawings, except the carrier disk 84, which is of a modified construction, as shown in Fig. 5, and the transfer member 85,.which is somewhat differently proportioned t the transfer fork i6, and from which the end, extension I1 is omitted.
The form of magazine and transfer mechanism shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings is illustrated in connection with the form of combined transferable bobbin and tension device shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings, wherein a tension holding shell 45 is mounted upon a bobbin H in such a manner as to be removably held in operative position relative thereto.
In this form of the mechanism, the carrierdisk 84, most remote from the flanged end casing 4, is provided with a plurality of resiliently mounted holding members 86, which are located each in substantial alignment with one of the notches formed in the carrier disk i. Each holding member 86 is interlocked with a portion of the disk 84 at 8T and'88, as shown, and a coiled spring 89 is provided for confined engagement with a portion of the member 86 and the carrier disk 84 to yieldingly hold the member 86 in engagement with the tip SI of the combined transferable bobbin and tension member 52. The carrier disk 84 is provided with bridge portions 92, each surrounding a portion of one of the resiliently mounted holding members 86, and a lug 93 carried by the holding member 86 engages one face of each bridge portion 92 to provide slight rocking movement of the holding member 86 under the influence of the spring 89 and thus provide suflicient adjustment in the position of the holding member 86 for insuring suitable engagement with the tip SI of the combined transferable bobbin and tension member.
The yoke portion 94 of the transfer member is so proportioned as to engage the tip 9i of the combined transferable bobbin and tension member together with the base 40 of the bobbin for moving these parts bodily in a direction radially of the spindle 6 in effecting transfer of the combined transferable bobbin and tension member into the shuttle body upon actuation of the transfer member. In this case the combined transferable bobbin and tension member have the parts held in proper operative relation with each other at all times by the releasable connection between the bobbin 4| and the shell 45 as previously described.
It will be seen that in each form of the invention illustrated herein, there is provided means for supporting the transferable bobbin and tension device in a rotary magazine whereby the parts are maintained in cooperative relationship with each other in such a manner as to be capable of transfer substantially simultaneously into a replenishable shuttle in such a manner that the cooperative relationship of the parts is unchanged and they are operatively mounted within the shuttle in position for immediately tensioning the weft thread on the first pick after transfer.
It will be understood that both in the case of the structure shown in Fig. l of the drawings as well as that illustrated in Fig. 2, the weft end carried by the transferable, bobbin is threaded within the tension device prior to the mounting of these parts between the carier disks of the rotary magazine so that the weft thread is immediately subject to the suitable and desired tension upon movement of the shuttle after transfer takes place.
As in the case of transferable bobbins alone, the insertion of the transferable bobbin and tension device effects the ejection of the previously used bobbin and tension device automatically in all cases, thus carrying with the ejected bobbin and tension device the previously severed weft end and preventing a portion of the previously used weft end being drawn into the weave.
In that form of the invention shown in Fig. 5 of the drawings, the combined transferable bobbin and tension device, being normally interconnected for purposes of handling and transfer, are placed in position between the carrier disks and transferred to the shuttle as unitary devices. It is to be understood that the manner of and means for interconnecting the transferable bobbin and tension device, as shown in Figs. 2 and 5, are capable of considerable variation, as well as the instrumentalities employed and arrangements of the parts for supporting and transferring the transferable bobbin and tension device in each of the forms shown herein, and various modified arrangements of means may be employed for these purposes without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claims which are to be broadly construed in the light of my disclosure.
It will be noted that the invention, in each of the forms shown and described, involves the use of a transferable bobbin having a base portion provided with means for detachable engagement with the usual or any suitable form of holding means carried by the shuttle, and involves the provision of a magazine mechanism for supporting the transferable bobbin and a tension member in replenishable position for transfer to a shuttle.
In view of the above, it is to be understood that the invention contemplates the use of a transferable bobbin of a type capable of being held transferably in a shuttle body through direct engagement of the bobbin base with suitable holding means carried by the shuttle body of such a character as to allow automatic insertion or ejection of the bobbin itself into and out of the holding means, as well as suitable magazine mechanism for supporting the transferable bobbin and its associated tension member in replenishable position for transfer to the shuttle. It is to be understood, therefore, that whenever the term transferable bobbin is employed in ,the specification and claims it is used to designate a bobbin structure having a part thereof directly engageable with holding means carried by the shuttle to permit automatic transfer of the bobbin to and from the shuttle through the direct insertion or ejection of the engageable portion of the bobbin with the holding means of the shuttle, and that the magazine and associated transfer mechanism described and claimed in combination with the bobbin are such as are adapted for and capabio of use in supporting and transferring a transferable bobbin of the character described together with an associated tension member.
What I claim is:-
1. In a weft replenishing loom, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type, a tension device, a shuttle, means for supporting separately said bobbin and tension device in replenishable position with relation to said shuttle, and means for effecting the transfer of said bobbin and tension device to said shuttle, substantially simultaneously.
2. In a weft replenishing loom of the rotary magazine type, a shuttle, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type, a tension device, rotatable disks spaced from each other and provided with means for supporting the bobbin and tension device in longitudinally spaced relation with each other to permit their insertion into the shuttle upon movement of the same out of engagement with the disk and in a direction radially of the disk, and means for effecting common movement of said bobbin and tension device in a direction radially of the disk for transferring said members to said shuttle.
3. In a weft replenishing loom of the magazine type, a shuttle, a pair of spaced rotary disks mounted for movement transversely of said shuttle, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type supported by said spaced rotary disks, and a tension device carried by one of said disks, said bobbin and tension device being supported in spaced relation with each other and movable upon movement of said rotary disks into position for transfer to said shuttle, and means for moving said bobbin and tension device out of engagement with said disks and into said shuttle.
4. In a weft replenishing loom, a rotary magazine having a plurality of compartments for retaining transferable bobbins and tension members respectively in corresponding longitudinally spaced relation with each other and in position for transfer to a shuttle upon being brought into transfer relation therewith, a shuttle, and means for effecting the transfer of a bobbin and its associated tension member to the shuttle substantially simultaneously.
5. In a weft replenishing loom of the rotary magazine type, a transferable bobbin and associated tension device, a pair of spaced disks, means carried by said disk for supporting said transferable bobbin and tension device in longitudinally spaced operative relation with each other, and transfer means engageable with said transferable bobbin and tension device in their positions as carried by said disks for transferring them to a shuttle.
6. In a weft replenishing loom, a transferable bobbin, a tension device, a shuttle, a rotary magazine comprising spaced disks rotatable about a common axis, means carried by said disks for supporting said transferable bobbin, means carried by one of said disks for supporting said tension device in operative relation with said transferable bobbin, and means for transferring said transferable bobbin and tension device to said shuttle while in operative relation with each other.
'7. In a weft replenishing loom, a shuttle, transferable tension members, a magazine comprising a rotatable disk provided with a plurality of radial chambers, means in said chambers for receiving and resiliently engaging opposite sides of said transferable tension members, and means adapted for movement in a direction radially of said disks for transfering one of said transferable tension members to said shuttle.
8. In a weft replenishable loom, a transfer disk comprising a plurality of spaced holding members each providedwith a curved face, a plurality of plates carried by said holding members and forming with said holding members and disk a plurality of radial chambers a resiliently mounted guide member located within each of said chambers and provided with a curved face adapted to cooperate with the curved face of one of said holding members for retaining a transferable member within the chamber and guiding the same in its movement from the chamber.
9. In a weft replenishing loom, a weft carrier member, a separately transferable member auxiliary to said weft carrier member and adapted for transfer to a shuttle with said weft carrier member, a rotary magazine comprising a disk, means carried by said disk forming a plurality of radial chambers, means in said chambers for resiliently supporting said transferable members, and means for forcing said transferable members from said chambers in directions substantially radially of said disk.
10. In a weft replenishing loom, a carrier disk, means carried by said carrier disk forming a plurality of laterally closed radial chambers, transferable tension members located within said chambers, means in said chambers for resiliently engaging opposite sides of said tension members, means for ejecting said tension members from said chambers successively, and means for guiding said tension members on their ejection from said chambers.
11. In a weft replenishing loom, tension members, a carrier disk, means carried by said disk for forming a plurality of radial chambers, pivotally mounted holding members located in said chambers for releasably supporting tension members within the chamber and movable to permit the ejection of the tension members from the chambers radially of the disk.

The combination in a replenishing loom structure, of transferable bobbins, means for supporting the bobbins in replenishable position, tension members, a carrier disk provided with. a plurality of chambers for the reception of said tension members, and means in each of said chambers for releasably engaging a tension member to receive and retain the tension member in position therein with its axis in substantial alignment with the axis of a bobbin.
13. The combination in a replenishing loom structure, of transferable bobbins, means for supporting the bobbins in replenishable position, tension members, a carrier disk provided with a plurality of radially positioned cooperating holding members arranged circumferentially thereof for releasably supporting a plurality of tension devices, and means operable upon transfer indication for ejecting one each ofsaid bobbins and tension devices from their holding members in a direction substantially radially of the disk.
14. The combination in a replenishing loom structure, of transferable bobbins, means for supsion members, a carrier disk provided with peripheral holding means for releasably engaging and supporting the tension members in position for transfer to a shuttle comprising a pivotally mounted resiliently controlled member having a recess upon one face thereof adapted to fit against one face of a tension member.

In a weft replenishing loom, a shuttle provided with bobbin holding means, a transferable bobbin having a portion thereof provided with means engageable with the bobbin holding means carried by the shuttle, a tension device operatively associated with said bobbin, means for supporting said bobbin and associated tension device in spaced position relative to each other and in replenishable relation with said shuttle, and means for inserting said bobbin and associated tension device into said shuttle to bring the engaging means carried by the bobbin into detachable engagement with the bobbin holding means carried by the shuttle and support the bobbin and associated tension device in operative relation with each other within the shuttle body.
16. In a weft replenishing loom, a replenishable shuttle, spaced carrier disks, means carried by said disks for supporting a transferable bobbin in transfer relation with respect to said shuttle, means carried by one of said disks for supporting a tension member in spaced alignment with said bobbin, a transferable bobbin and tension member carried by said supporting means,
and means for transferring said bobbin and ten-.
sion member to the shuttle substantially simultaneously.
17. In a weft replenishing loom, a shuttle, a transferable bobbin, a tension member operatively associated with said bobbin, a rotary magazine provided with means for supporting said bobbin and tension member in longitudinally spaced co-operative transfer position relative to the shuttle, and means for effecting the transfer of said bobbin and tension -member from said rotary magazine to said shuttle substantially simultaneously.
18. In a weft replenishing loom, a shuttle, a transferable bobbin and associated tension member adapted for insertion within or ejection from said shuttle simultaneously, rotary means for supporting said bobbin and tension member in separated but associated relation for transfer to said shuttle, and means for inserting said bobbin and tension member within said shuttle while maintaining them in associated relation with each other and thereby ejecting the used bobbin and its associated tension member from said shuttle.
19. In a weft replenishing loom, a shuttle, a base supported bobbin transferable to the shuttle, a take-up tension member transferable to the shuttle, a rotary magazine for supporting said bobbin and tension member in replenishable relation to said shuttle, and means for effecting the transfer of said bobbin and take-up tension member from said rotary magazine to said shuttle.

In a weft replenishing loom, a transferable bobbin, a transferable tension member, a shuttle, a movable magazine provided with means for supporting said bobbin and tension member in mutually aligned longitudinally spaced relation for transfer to said shuttle, and means for transferring said bobbin and tension member to said shuttle substantially simultaneously.

In a weft replenishing loom, a shuttle, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type, a tension device, means for supporting said bobbin and tension device in longitudinally spaced relation from each other for transfer to said shuttle, and means for effecting the transfer of said bobbin and-tension device to said shuttle substantially simultaneously.

In a weft replenishing loom, a shuttle, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type and a tension device adapted for insertion within or ejection from said shuttle simultaneously, and means for inserting said bobbin a: tension device within said shuttle in longituoi nally spaced relation with each other and thereby ejecting a used bobbin and its associated tension device from said shuttle.
23. In a weft replenishing loom, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type provided with a fixed spindle, a tension device adapted for operative association with said bobbin, a shuttle, means for supporting said bobbin and tension device in replenishable position with relation to said shuttle with the tension device located outwardly of and in spaced relation with the bobbin spindle, and means engaging said bobbin and tension device substantially simultaneously for eifecting'their transfer to the shuttle while maintained in longitudinally spaced relation with each other during the transfer.
24. In a weft replenishing loom of the rotary magazine type, a shuttle, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type, a tension member, opposed disks mounted for rotation about a common axis, means carried by said opposed disks for supporting the bobbin and tension member in longitudinally spaced relation with each other, and means operable substantially simultaneously for effecting the transfer of said bobbin and tension member from said disks to said shuttle.
25. In a weft replenishing loom of the rotary magazine type, a shuttle, a transferable bobbin of the conventional ring base type, a tension device, rotatable disks spaced from each other and provided with means for supporting the bobbin and tension device in longitudinally spaced relation with each other to permit their insertion into the shuttle upon their movement out of engagement with the disks and in a direction radially of the disks, and means for effecting the substantially simultaneous movement of said bobbin and tension device in a direction radially of the disks for transferring said members to the shuttle.
