UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
H. GAY AND REFINE J FOLLETT, OF COBRY, PENNSYLVANIA.
IMPROVEMENT IN FOUNTAINS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 199,821, dated January 29, 1878 application filed June 1, 1877.
tion of a revolving pan, A A, with a centrifugal fountain, I J, supply-pipe Gr, tunnel E, and discharging-pipe F.
Figure l is a perspective view, showing general plan of construction. Fig. 2 is a sectional view, illustrating details.
The revolving pan A A is of a circular form, with a concave bottom, at whose center is inserted a tube, P P, which, with the boss O 0, forms a hub. Any desirable number of partitions, B B, radiate from the hub to the rim at the circumference. Perforations M M are made in the bottom of the pan near the hub, and also at D D on the outer edge of the boss 0 0. These perforations effect aperfect and constant drainage from the pan.
As the waste-water descends into the tunnel E it enters the discharging-pipe F through perforations N, made for the purpose around the pipe and at the base of the tunnel. The extension of the discharging-pipe F above the tunnel E forms an axle for the hub of the pan. A supply-pipe, G, enters the larger or discharging pipe F, near the base of the tunnel, where, forming an angle, it extends upward and communicates with the fountain.
Water from an elevated tank is forced by its natural pressure through the supply-pipe G to the centrifugal fountain I J, and is distributed over the contents of the pan in drops or in the form of spray.
The clasps K K are for the purpose of holding the centrifugal fountain in position. For
discharging-pipe F.
We claim 1. Avegetable-pan,A,constructedas shown,
with its partitions B B, perforated hub O P, and made to revolve on the discharging-pipe F as its axle.
2. The centrifugal fountain, in combina-tion with the supply-pipe G and vegetable-pan A, for the purposes herein set forth.
