This invention relates to shelf trimmings for china closets, pantriesand the like, and'aims to provide a novel trimming having a vshelf top covering and a shelf edge covering section, that 5 will naturally tend to stay Vin positionon the shelf, without being tacked'or otherwise fastened,
and resist the usual inclination to slide out of positionron the shelf edge.

While shelf trimmings of -various kinds have long been used, yet the usual form has comprised one or more sheets of material of suitable width, adapted to overlie the shelf front edge and hang down more or less closely to the front shelf edge, usuallyY in an outward curve from the shelf edge.
These trimmings have had a tendency to slide on the shelf top, and thus get out of position, which tendency it is oneobject of my invention to overcome.
Referring rst to Figs. l to 3, my novel trimming comprises a shelf top covering section I, of either one or more thicknesses, herein one, of any suitable material as oil cloth, textile fabi ric, paper, or the like, to the front edge 2 of which is secured, in any manner, as by stitches 3, a strip of flexible binding 4.
This binding may comprise either two pliesV 5, 6, formed by folding Ythe binding o-r bonding f strip 4 lengthwise to provide a smooth, rear edge 1, or a single layer 5, with a selvage, may be used, if preferred. This ply 5 is then carried down vertically against the shelf cover edge, and then 50 or ply I0 may, Fig, 7, end at the edge of the 55 folded and turned upward and parallel thereto y,

There is thusprovided a shelf edge trimming, comprising two multi-ply sections connected by a thin, as a single ply, section, that will stayin position, whereas thev usual trimming vedge will slide, or yield, so that the trimming easily becomes misplaced on the shelf. This trimming also may be made of contrastingcolor sections, as stated,or different kinds of material, and with the formation described present a bead-like edge to the eye.Y Y Y In the embodiment shown in Figs. 4 to 6, n'-

3.' Shelf trimming comprising, in combination,
` Va. shelf-top-cover-section, a shelf-edge-coversection, and a connecting hinge-like strip binding member, comprising a top-section-upperedge multi-ply area; a top-section-lower-edge multi-ply horizontal area extended rearwardly of the edge-cover section forming an edge cover positioning structure, and folded closely to the cover section downwardly to form a shelf-edgecover-outer multi-ply area and a; shelf-edgecover-inner multi-ply area folded adjacent to the cover'secton, and at an acute, angle to the horizontal areas forming a top cover positioning structure to alignthe cover edge in parallel relation with the shelf edge, with the multi-ply top and front edge areas at right angles to each other forming a shelf trimming with a recessed edge.

Binding structure for securing a plurality of sheets of material to each other in substantiallykright angle relation with a beadvat the joint, comprising a horizontal core strip I with a sheet of bonding-,material thereon folded longitudinally on itself to provide an area of a plurality of pliesy El,l 6; the front edge of ply 6 turned at right `angles thereto and again folded longitudinally on itself ,against the opposite side of the core sheet providing a multi-ply area 9, I0, I I, said multi-ply area secured to the core strip; said latter ply II turned at` right angles, folded on, itself longitudinally forming plies I3, I4; and again turned at substantiallya right angle and then turned again at a right angle downward to form a multi-ply area I1, I9, a second core of strip material l5 secured between the I3, I4 multi-ply area and the IT, I9 multi-ply area either of said core strips with'its multi-plies constructed to he secured to a desired sheet of body material.
