Referring now to the drawings, and first to the construction shown, in Figures 1 to 5, the hair curler comprises a body portion 25 which maybe of any suitable configuration and which is diselongated in one direction; thebody portion 25 has at one edge a. flap 26 preferably integral with the body portion and V of the wire maybe overturned against the rear which is proportioned to overlap to 'atleast a considerable extent against one side of said end of the body portion to enclose an interposed lock of hair 27, as shown to advantage "in Figures 2 and 4. The lower end of the'body {portion 25 is in the form of a tongue equipped with means,

To carryout this feature of the invention, the.

body portion '25 may have a pair of transversely spaced apart slots 30 therein for the reception of aprong or jaw31 of a clamp, shown in detail 'in' Figure 3, so that the prong 31may be threaded through the slots 30 so as to lie against the outer side of the curler, while the'opposite prong'or V jaw 32 may engage acrossthe opposite outer side of the curler, as'shownin Figure 5. In the modified form shown in Figures 9 and 19, the body'portion 460i the curler isprovided with spaced slots 47 near its upper end, and at one edgeh'as a fiap 48 adapted to 'be' overturned against the inner face of the body portion 46 to enclose a lock of hair. The flap'48 has a slot 49' therein. The lower end of thebody portion 46 has a pair'of slots 50 transversely spaced apart to detachably receive a rolling and holdingdevice. of any construction such as shown in Figure 6.

The clamp shown in Figures 9 and 10' comprises a pair of flat prongs 511and 52 which are prefer-'1 ably flared slightly at their outer ends, as at 53, for ease of insertion'in'the slots 47 and49. The inner ends of the prongs: 51 and 52 have overturned flanges 54 attheir longitudinal edges which bindu'pon'the oppositeedge portionsof a U-shaped flat spring 55 normally urged to expanded position, as shown in Figure 10, to hold the prongs 51 and 52 together.

The spring 55,alsointerconnebtsthe prongs and acts as'a substitute forthe usual pivot. Of course, any suitable construction of clamp may be used. The inner ends of the prongs 51 provide handles 56 by means of whichthe prongs maybe spread and supported. By releasing the front jaw handle the latter is now urged against the look of hair 92 for holding the device in suspended relation from the lock of hair.

It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the "details of construc tion and design of the above specifically described embodiment of this invention without departing from the spirit thereof, such changes and modi ficationsbeing restricted only by the scope of the following claims:
