From the foregoing it will be readily apparent that in a mop constructed in accordance with the present invention the swab thereof will be free for unrestricted movement during a mopping operation as the wringer element of the mop remains completely disconnected therefrom. When the mop swab is to be wrungout, however, the element 10 and parts carried thereby are readily shifted to operative position in the forward end of the swab loop so that when the intermediate portion of the shaft is rotated in the manner previously described the mop swab will be twisted up and thoroughly wrung out. The
Wringer element may then be reversely rotated and returned to its inoperative position without the necessity of the user of the mop touching the wet mop swab with the hands.
Having thus ,described the invention, what is claimed isz- Y 1. In a mop swab carrier designed toV have a looped swab attached thereto, an elongated handle, a head plate carried by the handle and extending longitudinally from an end thereof, said plate having an aperture there, means for securing said swab tothe plate, a shaft having one end disposed in the aperture in the plate and having an element extending transversely of the end for disposition within the swab, said shaft being divided into pivotally joined sections whereby the same may be shifted from a normal position longitudinally of the handle and Ysaid end portion thereof may be shifted through said aperture into the end of the swab loop remote from the plate and a crank formed to facilitate the turning of said end portion to effect the twist-l ing of the swab.

In a mop swab carrier designed to have a looped swab attached thereto, an elongated handle, a head plate carried by and extending longitudinally from an end of the handle, said plate having an aperture extending transversely therethrough, a shaft made up of a plurality of hingedly connected sections, one of said sections being relatively short and normally extending through said plate aperture, a pin extending transversely of the said short portion of the shaft,V a pair of roller members carried upon said pin with said shaft therebetween, and resilient means carried by the handle for securing the shaft to the handle, said shaft when released from said securing means being slidable through said head plate aperture andadapted to be broken to form a crank whereby to rotate the said short end portion of the shaft.
3; In a structure of the character described, an elongated handle, a relatively broad head plate secured to 'and extending from one end of said handle, a clamp plate disposed in opposition to one face of the head plate, a hinge connection between the clamp plate at one end and an adjacent end of the head plate, means for securing the clamp plate adjacent its other end to the head plate, said clamp plate being designed to secure a looped mop swab to the head plate, said plates having alined apertures therethrough, a rod divided into a plurality of hingedly connected sections, one of said sections being relatively short and adapted to position in the alined apertures with the other portion of the rod disposed against the handle, and a head formed across the end of the Vsaid short portion of the rod, said rod being extensible through said alined apertures to position the last mentioned head in the forward end of a mo'p swab and adapted to have the pivotally connected portions thereof adjusted to form a crank for effecting the rotation of the said head.
