It is. an, objectof the present invention to provide-a display stand of a fibrous-material such as cardboard and which .may be collapsed into a flat compact body 'to adapt it for packing and shipping" or for other forms'of' transportation. I
Another object of thepresentinvention-isto provide a displaystand from asingle body of sheet material", the bodybeing of a; design readily foldable into the desired assembly. Another object of the present invention is to provide-a display stand with panels as abackground: for articles placed-upon its base in order thatrthose articles may be set off to better advantage.

The applied force, because'of the absence' of' slippage between the cohering sec- 'tions, causes all of the sections forwardly moved Sections 22, 24 and 30 are forced into a position normal to the sections remaining in the vertical position. "Concurrently to the forward pivotal movement of the sections 22 and 24 about the fold lines 14. and 25, the sections 26, 29 and 31, retain their vertical position. (See Figure 2.) This is because sections of equal width connect with opposite edges or fold lines of opposed sections. It will be noted in Figure 2 that the sections 12, 22; 24 and 26 enclose a section configuring a parallelogram. Likewise the sections 24, 26, 30 and 31 enclose a space havinga section with the opposed sides in parallelism.
Just before the forwardly projected sections reach thehorizontalposition the wings 16 are swung forwardlyabout the fold lines 36 until they are brought in contact with the diagonal section edges 37 'and 38 which are at that time in a mutual vertical plane. Subsequently, as the latches 2'7 are carried upwardly, the slits 20 coincide with the slots 28 and finally envelope the shanks 39 of the said latches. Simultaneously the tongues 23 bear upon the flaps 18 to force the latter outwardly. When the tongues 23 have reached the slit like apertures 1'7, an inward 'push upon the tongues 18 by means of the ball of the thumb deforms the tongues 18 slightly .to'bring the'upper and freeedges thereof beneath the tongues 23. Whilethetongues 18 arethus disposed with their upper edges beneath...tongues 23, the tongues 23 may be inserted through the slit 1'7.
At this time the stand is locked in place. Movement of the platform 22 laterally-of the panels 16 is prohibited by the tongues 23 engaging either the tongues 18 or the upper edges of the aperture s17; This locking position of the tongues 23within the apertures 17 is maintained by the slots 28 securing the wings 16 against swinging from theyposition adjacent to the diagonal edges of the step and platform. A forward movement of the section 26, and hence of the step 30,- is precluded by the engagement ofthe slits 20 with the shanks 39 of the latches To disassemble the device,-it isfirst necessary to reach to the inner side of thesections 16 and push the tongues 18' outwardly beyond theends ot the tongues 23. Access to the inner side of the fiaps 18 is readily had byway of the bottom'of the device. "It is then possible to chronogically lower theplatform. and step, swing the panels 16 back into :alinement with the back panel 13, and'fdrce the step and platform downwardly concurrently with the folding of V the downwardly moving parts. r
V The device is fiat and compact in its knocked down form. Usually the side panels 16 are of less width than the centerpanel-13 so that A platform; is provided by the section 22 while the "shorter 'adtical slots at the lower edge thereof, the side vwings being oblique to said rear Wall and converging'in the direction of the latter, a plat- ?form-forming section integral with said rectangular section and formed of material between saidwings, said platform-forming section having 1 oblique edges opposed to said side wings, a series of sections integral one with another and depending from the edge of said platform-forming section,said series including a first section'having the same length as the maximum length of said platform, a second section having oblique ends parallel in the assembled device with the oblique edges of said platform but in a lower horizontal plane; a third section of the same' length as the maximum length of said second section, a fourth section disposed beneaththe device, the width of said fourth section equaling the combined widths of said platform and said second section, a section from said fourth section upwardly turned and engaged'and secured to the rear wall of said rectangular rear wall forming section, and extensions turned upwardlyfrom said fourth section into engagement with the second section and secured thereto, there being latch means on said extensions, the slots in said side walls receivingsaid' latch means and cooperating therewith for holding said 'device in the assembly.

A display-devicewhich when assembled has a horizontally disposed elevated platform with an upwardly projecting wall at its rear, two opposed side walls and a step leading upwardly thereto at its front, and comprisinga blank having a rectangular section forming said upwardly projecting rear wall, wings at each side of and integral with said rectangular section and forming said opposed side walls, the side walls being oblique to said rear wall and converging in the formed of material between said wings, said platform-forming section having oblique edges opposed to said side walls, a series of sections integral one with another and depending from the edge of said platform-forming section, said series including a first section having the same length as the maximum length of said platform, a second section having oblique ends parallel in the assembled device with the edges of said plat form but in a lower horizontal plane, a third section of the same length as the maximum length of said secondsection, a fourth section disposed beneath the device, the width of said fourth section equaling the combined widths of said platform and said second section, an extension from said fourth section-upwardly turned and engaging and secured to the rear of said rectangular section, and holding means comprising slots in said wings and. projections upon said platform'and said fourth section, said 'projections interlocking with said slots for maintaining 'the device in assembled relation.

A display device which when assembled has a horizontally disposed elevated platform with an upwardly projecting wall at its rear, two op posed side walls and a step leading upwardly thereto at its front, and comprising a blank having a rectangular section forming said upwardly projecting rear wall, wings at each side of and integral with said rectangular section and forming said opposed side walls and having horizontal slots therein, the side walls being oblique to said rear wall and converging in the direction of the latter, a platform-forming section integral with said rectangular section and formed of material between said wings and having oblique edges with tongues thereon ,insertable into said slots to maintain said platform in a, predetermined horizontal position in the assembled device, a series of sections integral one with another and depending from the edge of said platform-forming section, said series including a first section having the same length as the maximum length of said platform, a second section having oblique ends parallel in the assembled device with the edges of said platform but in a lower horizontal plane, a third section of the same length as the maximum length of said second section, a fourth section disposed beneath the device, the width of said fourth section equaling the combined widths of said platform and said second section, an extension from said fourth section upwardly turned and engaging and secured to the rear side of said rectangular section, and holding means in said wings and on parts of said fourth section cooperating with said slots and tongues to hold said device in operative position.

A display device which when assembled has a horizontally disposed elevated platform with an upwardly projecting wall at its rear, two opposed side walls and a step leading upwardly thereto at its front, and comprising a blank having a rectangular section forming said upwardly projecting rear wall, wings at each side of and integral with said rectangular section and forming said opposed side walls, the side walls being oblique to said rear wall and converging in the direction of the latter, a platform-forming section integral with said rectangular section and formed of material between said wings, said platform-forming section having oblique edges opposed to said side walls, and a series of sections integral one with another and depending from the edge of said platform-forming section,
said series including a first section having the same length as the maximum length of said platform, a second section having oblique ends parallel in the assembled device with the edges of said platform but in a lower horizontal plane, a third section of the same length as the maximum length of said second section, a fourth section disposed beneath the device, the width of" said fourth section equalling the combined Widths of said platform and said second section, and an extension from said fourth section upwardly turned and engaging and secured to the rear side of said rectangular section, said bottom forming fourth section having integral flaps at the sides thereof, said flaps being foldable upwardly and having hooked latch portions engaging said wings and cooperating therewith to hold said device in assembled relation.

A display device which when assembled has a horizontally disposed elevated platform with an upwardly projecting wall at its rear, two opposed side walls and a step leading upwardly thereto at its front, and comprising a blank having a rectangular section forming said upwardly projecting rear wall, wings at each side of and integral with said rectangular section and forming said opposed side walls and having vertical slots at the lower edge thereof, the side walls being oblique to said rear wall and converging in the direction of the latter, a platform-forming section integral with said rectangular section and formed of material between said wings, said platform-forming section having oblique edges opposed to said side walls, and a series of sections integral one with another and depending from the edge of said platform-forming section,- said series including a first section having the same length as the maximum length of said platform, a second section having oblique ends parallel in the assembled device with the edges of said platform but in a lower horizontal plane, a third section of the same length as the maximum length of said second section, a fourth section disposed beneath the device, the width of said fourth section equaling the combined widths of said platform and said second section, and anextension from said fourth section upwardly turned and engaging and secured to the rear side of said rectangular section, said bottom forming fourth section having upwardly projecting flaps with hooked latch portions thereon interlocking with said slots in the wings to hold the device in assembled relation.

A display device which when assembled has a horizontally disposed elevated platform with an upwardly projecting wall at its rear, two opposed sidewalls and a step leading upwardly thereto at its front, and comprising a blank having a rectangular section forming said upwardly projecting rear wall, wings at each side of and integral with said rectangular section and forming said opposed side walls and having horizontal and vertical slots therein, the side walls being oblique to said rear wall and converging in the direction'of the latter, a platform-forming section integral with said rectangular section and formed of material between said wings and having oblique edges with tongues thereon projecting into said horizontal slots, and a series of sections integral one with another and depending from the edge of said platform-forming section, said series including a first section having the same length as the maximum length of said platform, a second section having oblique ends parallel in the assembled device with the edges of said platform but in a lower horizontal plane, a third section of the same length as the maximum length of said second section, a fourth section disposed beneath the device, the width of said fourth section equaling the combined widths of said platform and said second section, an extension from said fourth section upwardly turned and engaging and secured to the rear side of said rectangular section, and flaps projecting upwardly from said fourth section, each of said flaps being provided with a hooked latch portion interlocking with said vertical slots in said wings.
