In order to have accurate positioning of said stop-jaw and. of said table readily obtained, there are applied to said truck a number of marks which indicate the different positions occupied by said blades.
The framework which is situated' behind said device for cutting; comprises standards, the forwardly disposed ones of which are each com-- posed of four angularly shaped pieces 124 arranged in the form of a cross and between which are guided rack bars 20 adapted for up-and-down movement. Intermediate the members 20 and 21 are disposed flat iron pieces, which are made to penetrate at both sides between said angularly shaped pieces and guided therein. A U- shaped rail 22 which occupies a transverse position upon said rack bars 20, serves as adjustinggauge for the various lengths of the materialand is provided with an indicating scale 22', as clearly shown in Figures 1 and 2. The said scale is graduated in'millimeters from up to 12000 and more, as'the case may be, the said graduations being made so that the first three or five meters are divided into millimeters, whereas the remainder of the scale carries marks of division from to 5 millimeters. On the U-shaped rail 22 is'slidably mounted a stop 23 (see'Figure 2) fitted'with two screws 24 for clamping purposes. To prevent deflection of the profile rods during the cutting action, the said rack bar members 20 and the U-shaped members 21 are provided with angle tables having sliding rollers 25 upon which each rod is to be supported. Inthe case of rods of short length having to be cut, the said angle tables must be removed from the said members 20 and 21, respectively.
Raising and lowering of the said adjusting gauge together with said stop are obtained by meansof a shaft 26 and toothed'wheels 28, the said shaft being'journaled ingsingle bearings 27 and adapted for operation by a crank 29, as shown in Figure 3. In the body of the device for cutting, there has been provided'a passage, and through this passage, said shaft extends so that the attendant who is to occupy the space left between; framework and cutting device, is able to operate the shaft 26 by means of saidcrar k-handle 29 (see Figure 3). As clearly shown in Figure 7, there are provided strippers 32 which have for their oflice to throw down the material cut off the supporting rollers 25. The said strippers carry at top and base cranked flat iron pieces and are intended to be clamped to the upperand lower connecting piecesof angular shape at suitable places thereof, a set-screw 33 being provided for securing said strippers against displacement. If required, eachstripper maybe mounted so as to be .adaptedfor adjustment in height.
As ekemplified, the invention has for its object abutting device of the section iron and angle iron shears type, which'- may be "easily combined with a device for punching, as shown in'Figure 5. The device for punching is mounted upona framework composed of 'angula'rlyf shaped iron pieces and having preferably an extent of 15 meters in working length, and a suitable height measuring about 1050 millimeters from top to lower center of punch. "Upon said framework, there are disposedtracks in the nature of U-shaped rails 36, on which a carriage 37 carrying the materi'alto be punched, is adapted to travel at the left hand side of the punching device, and a carriage 38'having to transport the material punched, is adapted to travel at the right hand side of the said punching device. A rope drive 39 disposed on pulleys 40,"is provided for imparting movement to said carriage in either directionjoperation of said pulleys being effected eitherbya motor of 1 HP or by a motor with gearing of any kind. Forward feeding of said-carriagewhich feeding may have an extent of about 250- millimeters, maybe either obtained by said motor drive or by hand operated means. A' ha nd operatedtoothed wheel drive 122 is provided and adaptedto-accomplish accurate adjustment. The guide membersfaccommodated at the drill place, as ex{ emplified in Figure 15, are not stationary, but
adapted for lateral ti ping by means of hinges provided, so that any piece of work may :be bored at either side and without causing disa placement of the support.
The drilling machine described may bejointly employed as punching machine. All of ,the, means provided remain unchanged, with the ex ception however of the bedwhich is made sink-n able and which is to besubstitutedby the de vice for adjusting the marking gauges. The whole arrangement, in lieu of being stationary, may be movably mounted, so .that the device for drilling may be shifted ,tothe device for punching, and vice versa, and inthis way used for punching or drilling purposes, asthe case may be. Besides, the punchingdevice inconnection with a cutting device for section iron, may be'combined with adevice for cutting profile rods of any kind,.without the employment of special marking elements (see Figure 5) 1 What I claim, is;

A device suitable for drilling section iron, comprising two stationary iron scaffolds of identical structure and disposed at both sides df the drilling device, tracks mounted upon both scaffolds, carriages adapted to travel on said tracks and having the function to feed the material to the drill and to serve as a stop for the first perforation to be drilled, a subtable mounted on the first one of said carriages, means for clamping said material to said sub 7 table which is made interchangeable, this means comprising jaw members, a spindle and a crankhandle for operating said jaw members in either direction, said jaw members which have to serve as stops for the backs of the pieces of work, being capable of simultaneous adjustment in the longitudinal direction with respect to the axis of the drill spindle, an indicating scale for allowing said adjustment, the said means further comprising other jaw members, a spindle and a crank-handle for simultaneously operating said last mentioned jaw members, said operation causing clamping of the pieces of work, guide means disposed in close prox-' imity to the drill place and adapted for adjustment in transverse position to the tracks, this means being adapted for supporting a plurality of pieces of work, and means for supporting the free extremities of said pieces of Work. I

A device suitable for drilling section iron, comprising two stationary iron scaffolds of identical structure and disposed at both sides of the drilling device, tracks mounted upon both scaffolds, carriages adapted to travel on said tracks, the said carriages having the function to feed the material to the drill and to serve as a stop for the first perforation to be drilled, a sub-table interchangeably mounted on the first one of said carriages, means for clamping said material to said sub-table, this means comprising jaw members, a spindle and a crank-handle for operating said jaw members in either direction, said jaw members which have to serve as stops for the backs of the pieces of work, being capable of simultaneous adjustment in the longitudinal direction with respect to the axis of the drill spindle, an indicating scale for controlling said adjustment, the said means further comprising other jaw members, a spindle and a crank-handle for simultaneously operating said last mentioned jaw members, said*operationeausing clamping of the lpiec'e's of work, guide means disposed .in'
close proximity to the -drill place, this means comprising a sub-table, stillother jawmembers,
a spindle and a crank=handle for operation of said last-mentioned jaws "in either direction, identical spacings provided between the last mentioned-and the first mentioned jaw members, the said last mentioned jaws being made adjustable with respectto the axis-of the drill spindle, an indicating-scale for controlling said adjustment, rollers being 5 provided for taking up the-angle' 'sidepressureduring the drill ac-J tion, said rollers-*being of conical shape and.
disposed: in oblique position, and having the function to maintain contact with the inner round corners of the pieces of work to prevent rough drill, rollers accommodated between the last mentioned jaw members and adapted for supporting the pieces of work, said rollers being mounted on a common fiat iron bar and intended, for tipping from one side to the other, thereby causing the pieces of work to occupy a reverse position and allowing of drilling perforations into the reversed angular sides of the section iron pieces.
8. A device suitable for drilling section iron, comprising two stationary iron scaffolds of identical structure and disposed at both sides of the drilling device, tracks, mounted upon said scaffolds, carriages adapted to travel on said tracks, the said carriages having the function to feed the material'to the drill and to serve as a stop for the first perforation to be drilled, a sub-table interchangeably mounted on the first one of said carriages, means for clamping said material to said sub-table, means for simultaneously adjusting said clamping means in the longitudinal direction with respect to the axis of the drill spindle, an indicating scale for controlling said adjustment, guide means disposed in close proximity to the drill place and adapted for adjustment in transverse position with relation to the tracks, means for operating said guide means which are adjustablev with respect to the axis of the drill spindle, an indicating scale for controlling said adjustment, means for taking up the angle side pressure exerted on the pieces of work during the drill action, means for supporting the pieces of work and allowing same of being tipped into the reverse position for continuation of the drill action, an additional carriage mounted on said second carriage which is adapted for adjustment, a support carried by said additionally mounted carriage, jaw members disposed in said support, a common spindle for said jaw members, a crank-handle for operating said spindle and said jaws members simultaneously, square iron members in connection with said jaw members, said square iron members, which are fastened to said support, serving as a stop for the material to be drilled, means for looking the additional carriage to the second carriage to prevent displacement thereof, a special support adapted for the reception of the material in clamped position thereby realizing a connection with the said second carriage, means movably disposed within guides and adapted to be raised and lowered, a rack-bar for operating said means so ass to allow drilling of perforations in accordance with linear and ered, a spindle and a crank-handle for operating said jawmembers which? are connected :by a bridge piece. forming yoke ,over the, object; to be dri1led,a die-rod laterally attached to said yoke which is adapted for horizontal movement inreither :direction'and for raising and lowering holes. provided ,in said-die-rod and adapted for theremovably. made receptionvof drill-bushes corresponding in cross-section ,to various diameters of perforations to be drilled, a steel-tape-measure and rollers ,for supporting same, the said steel tape-measurewhich isof the endless type, being adapted jjto travel laterally of the frameworkand allowing of'adjustment of the spacings, a protecting cover ,for
