UNITED STATES WILLIAM w. PIOKFORD, OF EAST PALESTINE, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN CURTAIN-FIXTURES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,677, dated December 25, 1877 application filed July 9, 1877.
To'all whom it may concern;
Be it known that I, WILLIAM W. PIoK- FORD, of East Palestine in the county of Golumbiana and State of )hio, have invented a new and Improved Curtain-Fixture, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a front elevation. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of a part of the device.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention relates to improvements in fixtures for that class of rolling curtains which are adapted to be lowered from the top. The improvements relate to the holders and clamps for the curtain-cords.
In the drawing, A indicates the curtainroller, having groove 0 to receive the curtaincord d. The roller-journals 6 rest in hooks B, that slide on rods j, which are attached to the casing by screws. The rods f are offset at their ends, to allow the hooks B to slide freely up and down without touching the easing, and at their upper ends theyare bent to form loops 9, which serve as eyes or guides for the cords 0, that are attached to the hooks B. These cords pass together through one of the loops, and are attached to a larger cord, h. The cords d hpass through eyes '6, formed from a single piece of wire, and attached to the window-casing by the screw that holds the lower ends of the rod f. A double spring, is, also made from one piece of wire, is attached to the casing by two screws, and is capable of clasping the cords d "h.
When it is required to let down the curtain and roller together, the cord h is removed from the spring k, and the curtain and roller are allowed to drop; and they, may be retained at any point by slipping the cord h under the spring k.
The curtain is rolled and unrolled by means of the cord (1, and is retained in any position by slipping the cord under the spring k.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new anddesire to secure by Letters Patent The double T- shaped holder for the curtain-cords, formed of a single piece of wire, having an eye to receive an attaching-screw, and terminal eyes i i, to receive the cords.
