a A plait of the type described above is adapted 55 to be used in sport coats, garments in general, and other similar articles. Other material necessarily must be attached to and associated with the material 10 and such material is illustrated on the drawing along the top and bottom edges thereof and indicated by the reference numerals 25. This material is secured down or connected with the material 10 by the stitches 24.

In Figs. 6 and 7 another variation of the invention has been disclosed wherein the material 10 is shown provided with a double plait each half of the plait is substantially identical to the one previously described. This may be readily understood by carefully inspecting Figs. 6 and '7.

It should be noticed that the double plait is formed plaits of different'sizes. More particularly aresilient frame is shown comprising parallel

20 and 21 connected at the top and bottom ends by elements 22. These elements 22' are composed of separate sections adjustably connected so as to be capable of holding the side like, comprising sheet material formed with a

20 and 21 .at various adjustable distances- More particularly prongs 26 project from the edge of one of the sections of the element 22' and engage around the other of the sections so as to slidably connect the sections of the element. With. this arrangement it is possible to move the

20 and 21 away from each other or towards each other so as to change the distance between them; 'This resilient frame'may be applied into a plait as previously describedrelative to the frame illustrated in Fig. 5, the only exception being that this resilient frame may be adjusted to accommodate plaits of different depths.

While I'have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it isto be understood that I do-not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims. I

Having thusdescribed my inventionfwhatl claim as new and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:

l 1. A plait for sport coats, garmentsand the plait extending the entire width and consisting of a front layer continuing with a bend extending" the width of the material to an I intermediate layer and continuing with a bend also extending the width of the material toa rear layer, a line of stitches securing the front and intermediate layers together near the bend this forming a passage, other stitches securing the intermediate and rear layers together near the bend forming another passage, openings formed in said intermediate layer, and a resilient frame comprising parallel flexible'members extending through said passages, and elements connecting the ends of' said'flexible members and passing throughopenings in the intermediate layer.

2. A plait for sportcoats, garments and the like, comprising sheet material formed with a plait extendin the entire width and consisting of a front layer continuing with a bend extending the width of the material to an intermediate layer and continuing with a bend also extending the width of the material to a rear layer, a line of stitches securing the front and intermediate layers together near the bend this forming a passage, other stitches securing the intermediate and rear layers together near the bend forming another passage, openings formed in said intermediate layer, and a resilient frame comprising parallel flexible members extending through said pa'ssages,'and elements connecting the ends of said flexible members and passing through openings in the intermediate layer, and stitches along the top and bottom of said sheet material for holding the plait closed.

A plait for sport coats, garments and the like, comprising sheet material formed with a plait extending the entire width and consisting of a front layer continuing with a bend extendpassage, other stitches securing the intermediate and rear layers together near the bend forming another-passage, openings formed in said intermediate layer, and a resilient frame comprising parallel flexible members extending through said passages, and elements connecting the ends of said flexible members and passing through openings in the intermediate layer, and stitches along the top and bottom of said sheet material for holding the plait closed, said flexible members extending the width of the material and the elements being located immediately within the edges of said material.

A plait for sport coats, garments and the like, comprising sheet material formed with a plait extending the entire width and consisting of a front layer continuingwith a bend extending the width of the material to an intermediate layer and continuing with a bend also extending the width of the material to a rear layer, a line of stitches securing the front and intermediate layers together'near the bend this forming a passage, other stitches securing the intermediate and rear layers together near the bend forming another passage, openings formed in said intermediate layer, and a resilient frame comprising parallel flexible members extending through said passages, and elements connecting the ends of said flexible members and passing through openings in the intermediate layer, and stitches along the top and bottom of said sheet material for holdingthe plait closed, said latter mentioned stitchesbeing arranged in lines above and below said elements so as to encase the elements.

A plait'for sport coats, garments and the like, comprising sheet material formed with a plait extending the entire width and consisting of a front layer continuing with a bend extending the width of the material to an intermediate layer and continuing with a bend also extending the width of the material to a rear layer, a line of stitches securing the front and intermediate layers together near the bend, other stitches securing the intermediate and rear layers together near the bend this forming a passage forming another passage, openings formed in said intermediate layer, and a resilient frame comprising parallel flexible members extending through said passages, and elements connecting the ends of said flexiblemembers and passing through openings in the intermediate layer, and stitches along the top and bottom of said sheet material for holding the plait closed, said openings in the intermediate layer comprising slits extending in from the edges thereof.

A plait for sport coats, garments and the like, comprising sheet material formed with a plait extending the entire width and consisting of a front layer continuing with a bend extending the width of the material to an intermediate layer and continuing with a bend also extending the width of the material to a rear layer, a line of stitches securing the front and intermediate layers together near the bend this forming a passage, other stitches securing the intermediate and rear layers together near the bend forming another passage, openings formed in said intermediate layer, and a resilient frame comprising parallel flexible members extending through said passages, and elements connecting the ends of said flexible members and passing through openings in the intermediate layer, and stitches along the top and bottom of said sheet material for holding the plait closed, said elements comprising sections slidably connected with each other, whereby said flexible members may assume various adjustable positions from each other to adapt the resilient frame to plaits of different sizes.

'7. A plait for sport coats, garments and the like, comprising sheet material formed with a.

plait extending the entire width and consisting of a front layer continuing with a bend extending the widthof the material to an intermediate layer and continuing with a bend also extending the width of the material to a rear layer, a line of stitches securing the front and intermediate layers together near the bend this forming a each other to adapt the resilient frame to plaits of different sizes, prongs from one of the sections engaging around the other of the sections to produce a slidable arrangement.
