Suitably fixed to the support, as by welding, are blocks 6 and 7 upon which are mounted rubber cups 8 and 9 to receive and hold golf balls 10 and 11 which are of different construction for the purpose explained above. v
Mounted to rotate in the side frames 1 and 2 is a shaft 12 having counterweight 13 to balance the! strikers described below. Fixed to shaft 12 is gear 14 driven by gear 15 on motor shaft 16 of motor 17, the latter being controlled by switch 18. Belt 19 is driven by pulley 20 on shaft 12 and drives pulley 21 operatively connected to speedometer 22.
Studs 23 and 24 are suitably fixed to shaft 12. Slidably mounted on studs 23 and 24 are sleeves 25 and 26 to which are clamped at 27 and 28 the shanks 29 and 30 of strikers 31 and 32, the main portions of the strikers being preferably ofsteel but having preferably aluminum heads 33 and partial elevation showing differv the path of trip member 39; turning the latter connected at one end with portion 13 and at 34suitably connected to said main portions; each striker being of the same material and the same weight and of thesame form and construction as the'otheras to all offits parts including its head a.

under the infiuence of centrifugal force, said sleeves move radially outward until their integral collars 45 and 46 engage rubber collars 47 and 48, as shown best'in Figure 2. These rubber collars rest against steel collars 49 and 50', all of said collars being frictionally held on their studs, the head 51 of stud 23 preventing undesired removal of the collars 4'7 and 49, a similar head 52 being provided on stud 24. Springs 53 are theother end with bridge 35 and act to retard the outward radial movement of the sleeves 25 and 26 and act also to return the sleeves to inner radial position as the machine slows down after the strikers have acted, this slowing down following the shutting off of the motor.
Our machine may also be used to test different heads, such as heads of different golf clubs, by connecting such heads to the two strikers and then simultaneously applying blows to objects of the same structure to determine the relative merits of such heads.
In using our'machine the motor is started and the strikers are rotated until the desired speed is indicated by the speedometer, the strikers as shown in Figure 5 and as indicated by the:

What, we claim is;
1, A testing machine comprising a shaft; two strikers; means to rotate said shaft; means connecting said.- shaft and strikers to cause said strikers to rotatefree of certain objects when the shaft rotates. but. with provision to permit movement of the strikers outwardly radially of the shaft;v and means'toi act; on said connecting means to permit such radial movementof the strikers simultaneously so that the strikers strike said objects simultaneously.

A testing machine comprising a shaft; two strikers; means to rotate said shaft; means connecting said shaft and strikers to cause said strikers to rotate free of certain objects when the shaft rotates but with provision. to m r mitt movement of the strikers outwardly radially-bf said shaft; a latch member engaging said connecting means to hold the strikers in their inner radial position; and means to release said latch to permit simultaneous outward radial movement of said strikers;
