SlTRAW-CUTTER.
Specification of Letters Patent No. 19,779, dated March 30, 1858.
To all whom 'it may concern.'
. Be it known that I, W. WV. HOLLMAN, of Eddyville, in the county of Lyon, State of Kentucky, have invented a new Improvement in Straw-Cutters; and I do herebydeclare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
Figure l is a perspective view of my improved straw cutter, and Fig. 2 a perspective view of the movable bottom.
The bottom is operated by two cams A, and B, on shaft C, one end of rod D, attached to cam B, and the other end to the bottom. By raising the lever W the lower part of the knife sash O, bears against cam A, which moves the bottom forward, placing the projection of straw under the knife P. This is done at an elevation of the knife sufficient to admit the straw between it and the bearing E.
